1 Prologue: Sausages and Eggs

"One,two,three."

*Splat*

*A man groaning and growling as he struggles*

"One,two,three."

*Splat*

"One,two,thr-"

*SPLAT*

*A woman can be heard crying softly*

The woman stands in fright while covering her mouth, her tears flow down her face as she see a naked young boy holding a bloody wrench bashing her husband head on the kitchen floor. The scene cause her to fall on her knees as she's trying to get a grip on the situation to what has happened.

As she was holding her head covering her face with her knees, she slowly looks up and see the young boy covered in blood standing in front of her. It cause her to crawl backward to get away from him.

"P-Please....please don't hurt me. Please I'm begging you."

The woman was pleading for her life while crying. It must have been traumatic to her given the situation. But the boy stood in front of her quietly,emotionless to a point where it's eerie for a child. The woman then look around for something to defend herself and that when she see the kitchen knife on the counter to her left.

The boy then slowly turns his head to where the woman is looking and sees the knife.

"I don't think that's a good idea."

The woman shook at boy's words. The woman tries to keep herself calm and plan on reasoning the boy.

"Do you have a name? Do you know where your parents are?...D-do you need help?"

The boy stood there in silence for a few minutes, the silence was killing her to point of suffocation, to her this child is a monster for killing her husband. Then he started smiling gently yet the woman's pupils dilate for what she saw was a young boy smiling but his smile...it's inhuman, his eyes are empty like an abyss.

'God...God help me.'

The woman wanted to run and call for help but she was too afraid to move.

"Arthur..my name is Arthur, My parents are dead and no I don't need your help because it's the other way around."

The woman was confused to what he had say but at least she understood something, the boy is able to communicate and reason with her.

"Arthur? are you going to k-kill me?"

The woman was hesitant but she needed to know if she gonna die at the very least she's gonna put up a fight, he's a child after all.

"Hmm...no, I have no reason to kill you."

"What, what do mean by that...then why did you killed my husband?"

The woman slowly stands up while holding the kitchen counter, as she stand she sees the knife next to her hand.

"I killed your husband because he was infected, he attacked you didn't he?"

The woman purse her lips, what the boy said was true, her husband did attacked her and tried to bite her but that doesn't justify killing the man she loved the were other ways. Her husband was a good man, working hard for his family, 'he was..he was about to be a father'. Then the woman again tries to calm herself, in the end the boy did saved her.

"What do you mean by infected, he's sick like as in rabies?"

The boy for the first time showed emotion of surprise, he's surprise on how strong willed this woman is to a point where he grin.

"Hmm, close but not exactly he was infected by a strain of virus that's currently plaguing this city. Soon the entire city population will be infected changing them into a monster that bites and spread the infection eventually leading to an endless cycle unless it is stop by someone."

The woman wanted to fall on her knees once more for the information that Arthur spoke. 'A virus in this city...then where's the government shouldn't they be involved in saving us.'

"They can't save you."

The woman immediately turns her head towards him. 'How...how can he stand there calmly.'

"Explain yourself, what do you mean by that?"

Arthur stood there smiling while walking towards her causing her to immediately grab the kitchen knife next to he-

*Bone breaking*

"AAAAAARRRRGGHH!!!!"

The woman fell to her knee while holding her arm, the boy swung his wrench breaking her arm.

"Now look, I did say it wasn't a good idea."

The boy crouch in front her using his knees to cover his penis.

"Say...do you have any clothes lying around that I could borrow. It's getting real chilly here."

The woman cry and she was in so much pain. The boy just gaze at her in silence until she respond and a few minutes and whimpers later she showed him her husband clothes. it was too big so he use his business shirt to cover his body temporary.

-Few Hours Later-

The woman is currently sitting on the sofa and next to her is Arthur, Arthur is currently watching the television after he buried her husband and took a shower. She adjusted the sling on her arm after the boy perform first aid on her. She wanted to give an excuse to go to the hospital for she's in great pain but he laughs and said it was a bad idea.

"Going to the hospital is suicidal. For majority of infected people will be there and that is where hell's door will open.

She gulped after listening to him, this child is quite knowledgeable for his age to a point that it's frightening.

"Where did you learn to perform first aid? you're quite good at it."

Arthur turns his head towards her and smiles

"In a mental asylum."

'A mental asylum, What the fuck....how could a child be locked up in an asylum. Wait doesn't that means he escape from it and that he's dangerous...this little shit, he's lying...then my husband is not infected, the city is not plague with virus, this child is simply insane. He murdered my husband and a father to our child.'

Arthur continue to slip channels on the television to find something interesting.

The woman purse her lips and her eyes are filled with conviction. She wanted to kill him. She stands up and walks towards the phone to call the cops but to her surprise the line didn't get through, she then tries to call her family and friends and again the lines wouldn't go through.

Arthur grins as he flip through the channel, 'Hmm, no news on the infection. so "they" are trying to contain it as much as possible...won't be long then.' Arthur then hear his stomach growl, 'Right I didn't eat anything.'

The woman hear his stomach growl and have an idea how to subdue him.

"It seems that you're hungry, It's late in the afternoon and I too am hungry so how about I'll cook up some lunch."

The woman smile wryly as she speak to him. Arthur stop changing the channels while holding the remote. He turn towards her and smile gently.

"That a great idea, it's dangerous outside so it's better to be on the inside where it's safe. What will you be cooking ma'am?"

The woman walks towards the kitchen and smiles.

"Sausages and eggs."

Then Arthur's eyes is filled with life.

"That sounds delicious."

The woman then walks towards her kitchen with her heartbeat beating faster than normal. She prepare herself to cook. While preparing she sees the bloodstained floor where her husband was brutally murdered and now she's about to cook for him. Safe to say the woman's mind is currently not in a right place.

She peeks from time to time at Arthur to make sure he's there while cooking and when's she done she call Arthur to come to the kitchen.

"Can you do me a favor since my arm is broken, can you move these plates on the dining table while I'll go freshen up."

Arthur stand in front of her emotionless and nod. He begins to move plates on the dining table. She then quickly grab a box of rat poison and spread it on his plate and quickly pick it up. She made up her mind she was going to kill this young boy.

As Arthur set the plates down, The woman came and guide Arthur to his seat asking him to get comfortable, She then placed the poison food in front of him. To Arthur the food looks delicious as he hadn't had any meals for some time now. he is currently sitting across her and behind her are pictures of her family. 'Looks like a happy family.'

The woman who is currently sitting across Arthur who back is currently facing the living room. She smiles knowing that her husband's killer will soon die. After he dies, The woman plan on driving to the police station calling for help.

"Well then we wouldn't want our food to get cold, let's eat."

The woman said it with a smile and the two of them proceed to eat leisurely. The woman then place her spoon and fork down and gaze at Arthur with contempt.

"So how your food Arthur?"

Arthur smiles at her question and calmly reply

"Oh, it's to die for."

Then the woman's throat starts to itch and she felt uncomfortable. Then she hears her husband's record player playing.

"What's wrong ma'am? you look ill."

The woman begins to panic as she realized what he meant.

"YOU! WHAT DID YOU DO!"

Arthur continues to eat without a care in the world. The woman then starts coughing blood onto the table while struggling to breathe.

"*COUGH* *COUGH* HOw...how did you k-know?"

The woman was struggling to speak as she tries to make sense of the situation. How did he do it? she couldn't understand it.

"Hmm tell me what do you see?"

The woman stop coughing and tries to look at him, she didn't notice anything diffe-

The woman's pupils shrunk as she sees pictures of her husband and her as well as her parents. She then realized...she swapped place with him.

"Ho-how did you?"

Arthur then put down his spoon and fork and gaze at her coldly while smiling.

"It seems that the child inside is had fall...how unfortunate?

The woman realized what he meant she quickly place her hand on to her stomach and bit her lips and knows the child inside her is dead. While coughing blood she quickly grab her fork in an attempt to stab him but to no avail she lost all her energy and fell onto the floor while chocking on her blood.

"Pl-Please help me. I don't want to die."

The woman was crying and pleading for her life. Arthur just sat there and look at her as if she's nothing.

"I would save you but to honest you'll die either way and not by my hand by the way. After I preformed first aid on you I saw a particular bite mark that resemble that of a human. It seems that your husband managed to bit you before I killed him. So either way you'll die from the infection and come back as one of them and in the end I'll kill you."

Arthur said it casually as he rest his chin on his hand.

"You monster, I'll *cough* ki- *cough*"

The woman was coughing frantically and blood came out of her mouth after a few minutes she lay still on the floor with her eyes open which lost its light while tears streaming down her face.

Arthur then turns his hand facing the man sitting across him where the woman once sat. The man in front of him is tall and wears a black suit but his most defining feature is his face...he's faceless (Imagine Slenderman but black) plus that mouth of his that resemble Venom from Spiderman.

"Solomon, what are you doing here?"

A window appear before Arthur and he looks down to read.

[Quest Failed: Save the woman from being bitten by her husband]

<I'm truly impress Arthur, your first quest and you botched it up spectacularly.>

Solomon laughs while Arthur's mouth twitch slightly.

"Scram if you have nothing better to do, I'm eating."

"I know that a freak like you won't die from conventional means."

Arthur raise his glass to Solomon and he to vice versa.

Both of them drinks and proceed to eat.

While they are eating the television is currently showing the news where a woman is talking about a viral outbreak that's spreading around Tokonosu City and is advising everyone to head to the nearest hospital for a check up. Before the Television turn itself off.

Next chapter
