14 Cold, Cold Heart

Twas a cold and silent drive in the late evening, after the whole Yankee incident everyone's face looked deary and solemn. The two girls from Shido's group look listless and lost the light in their eyes. I guess killing their friend must have broken them.

<Wow...look how delicious they look, all broken and lost...hehehe I have to admit you're a cold motherfucker. AHAHAHAHA>

Busujima-nee who's sitting next to me looks at the surrounding scene...it looks like hell. Building caught on fire, destroyed and even vandalized were all round us. Car crashes, parts of human bodies litter the street. The world has truly gone to shit.

"What do you we should do next Arthur-chan?"

Busujima-nee asked me with a serious expression on her face. I look around the bus...everyone seem down plus the supplies might run out soon due to an increase in number. I stand up attracting the attention from everyone. I walk and see the pool of blood on the floor as casually walk over it to talk to Mari-nee.

"Mari-nee....we need to make a pit stop for supplies."

Mari-nee looks towards me with sad eye and nods quietly....I hate seeing her like this.

"Look..I did what I had too, I can't risk an infection spreading in here. I hope you understand."

Mari-nee look surprise by my word and look slightly angry.

"I do know that Arthur-chan...it's just that a kid shouldn't have done that. You should have left it to us adult to handle it...but what you did towards that poor kid was too much...how could you ask them to kill that kid...you threatened them with you're gun Arthur. You became a murde-

"Shut up Mari-nee....listened well. I don't care about them. They're nothing more but extra mouths to feed. I will do what I must to protect my people."

Mari-nee's tears starts to flow.

"I hate you...you're cruel and evil, you treat people as if there numbers or how useful they are. You've changed Arthur-chan."

I smile and laughs.

"No...you never knew the real me. I don't need your love Mari-nee... all I need from you is to survive and when we reach the Takagi Estate...we'll part ways if that will make you. For now, drive to a nearest convenient store for supplies."

Mari-nee quietly nods...and I return to my seat passing the others. Then Takashi-nii stands up and looks at me wanting to say something...shit, why did I said that to her? I didn't mean it, I'm getting emotional.

"Look..Arthur..I know that you think what you did was right and that you only want to protect us..but what you're doing is wrong...you cant just take a person life as if it's nothing."

You're lives is nothing but fiction, a construct to entertain others...can even imagine the number of people masturbating to your little girlfriend and wanting to fuck her. No...Takash-nii some lives are worthless especially to those that don't contribute.

"Let me tell a story Takashi-nii...once there was a boy, a sweet boy who's always curious about the world...you see the boy was something special, he didn't act like all the other children. The moment he came into the world his parents showered him with love and affection like all parents should.

Then the parents saw something extraordinary...their child was special because at the age of two he had finished reading a dictionary that he found while his parents were cleaning the house, and with that he spoke his first sentence....'I...love...you'. Upon hearing this, they believe their child was a prodigy and the next genius of his generation.

Days after days, after that incident his parents gave him various types of books from science to high school level mathematics. Due to his ability to memorize all he had seen, soon people starts to pay attention to him. Of course, why wouldn't his parents be elated by the idea that their son is famous.

All over the world people would know him as the Child who knows all. As he grew older, he solved various unsolved questions at the tender age of 5....but then the boy realized that he doesn't want this anymore...ever since he became famous, the time spend with his family grew less and less to a point they barely spoke.

So one day the boy decides to run away from it all and leave it all behind....because he love his family. Once he got home, he saw his parents but...but there was something different about them. They seem happy without their son.

He turns to see a baby girl walking towards them...the boy never knew that her mother was pregnant. He was furious and felt betrayed, He enters the house and looks at them with contempt. He felt his parents took advantage of him, living the life with their daughter while he works to the bone.

His parents saw him and starts smiling and hugs him, showering him love and affection he longed for...then his baby sister walks towards him hugging him and yell out BROTHER! while smiling. Then the boy soon lost all of his rage and contempt towards his family. He then hugs his sister tightly almost suffocating her he realize he love her too, as she struggle the boy didn't release her. H e continue to hug her tightly.....until the sounds of her neck snapped reverberating the room.

His parents screamed and try to separate them...but it was too late. She died in his arm, he...loves her too much that it killed her. He smiled and look towards his parents who were crying holding on to their dead daughter.

They look at him as if he was a monster. He smile and realize what he truly wants...to see the look on people's face when they're in their absolute despair."

Takashi-nii looks terrified by my story as well as the others.

"If you ask me Takashi-nii.... I think love is overrated. Ahahahahaha."

Mari-nee then stop the bus. It seem we have reach our first checkpoint. I quickly pointed to the two boys in Shido's group to pick the bags and gather supplies..they shook their head not wanting to leave.

"*Sigh*"

I shot one of them in the head causing everyone to scream and look at me with fear. The other boy then quickly run out of the bus to grab the supplies. I ask Shido to dispose of the body.

"Busujima-nee and Teshima-san...keep an eye on him as he gathers for supplies, Hirano cover them and the rest keep your eyes peel and if you see any special infected call for me.."

After giving out my orders the others nods their head. Mari-nee place her head on the steering wheel mopping. Chiaki-san then walks towards me asking me to follow her.

"We need to talk Arthur."

I nod and follow her.

"Chiaki and I will search the surrounding area then. Keep an eye out and leave the engine running for a getaway."

I walk towards the door and look at Mari-nee...hmm why my does heart stir seeing her like this....wait did I kill someone again?

"I'm sorry Mari-nee..."

I whisper it to her and it cause her to wake up and look towards me as I left the bus with Chiaki-san
