37 Blind Fear

The woman in front of me shook in fear because of it...hmm she's definitely not part of Umbrella in any way. She's merely a tool to incite unrest. The tried her best to smile and put on a brave front.

"Haha..not infected then explain how you did it...how were you able to incite fear to all of us...that monstrous roar came from the dojo...I have witnesses to support this."

Witnesses...hmm so there was someone inside the dojo spying on us....but I didn't felt or notice anything.

"Hmm are you a doctor? a specialist? what made you so sure that I am infected? A monstrous roar could be anything."

For now, all I could do is let her slip. She might reveal to me who the spies are.

"What else could it be? I've read the report that Takagi-san tried to hid from us...the cause of the outbreak Umbrella Corporation."

My eyes widen by her words...report from Umbrella...Souichiro-san, why do you have the report? I quickly turn to him to see his eyes close...he's not defending himself.

"See silence from the man himself...what to hear something interesting child?..The report also mentioned you and how there is a possibility that you might be infected and granted powers beyond humans' comprehension. You could be the possible cure that humanity needed."

Her eyes starts go to insane...I've seen these before. To be drowned in fear and madness, losing oneself. This woman...she wanted to have her normal live back...and so are the others. They all look desperate for a cure to end this madness.

"So surrender yourself boy! you could save so many people, no one have to die anymore."

I starts to laugh at her words...causing her to look at me worryingly.

"No has to die....so it's fine if I die for the cause...HOW SELFISH!"

My yell frighten those behind her.

"What made you so sure I am the cure...because I'm slightly different you wish to send me to Umbrella to live as a guinea pig for a cure that will never come....I'm not immune nor am I the cure. I understand that all of you are afraid but have you ever stop to consider that Umbrella is playing all of you. Think about it why would Souichiro-san leave a report that is vital, out in the public and not in a safe."

She then tighten her fist and scowled at me.

"Not only that...you seem quickly adamant in pointing the finger at me and convincing those behind you, what were you expecting? to get the mobs to capture me...deliver me to Umbrella? Did Umbrella promise to send someone to save you by taking you out of the country?"

I begin laughing maniacally...how ridiculous, how naive could they be? Chiaki-san also looks angry at them for treating me this way.

"YOU DO KNOW THAT! YOU HAVE THE POWERS TO SAVE US SO WHY WON'T YOU! WE'RE WEAK!"

Her words suddenly annoyed me....weak?

"Weak....excuses, who's weak here? You or me?...my group and I survived Fujimi Academy..went through hell to get here..sure I have powers but what about the others in my group...I can't be there all the time, they had to fend for themselves at one time..but they never gave up. SO DON'T CALL US WEAK. We can be strong! look around you, each and everyone of you work are to protect one another! HOW IS THAT WEAK!"

Everyone look down in shame...to them the words of a child no older than 12 lecturing them, struck them hard. One of the them walks up to the woman and touch her shoulder asking her to let it go, She grit her teeth...but she remain adamant and stood her ground.

"We had to work hard because you refused to help! Have you have any idea how many lives were lost in trying to set up defenses. I lost my husband to them!"

Sweet Jesus...

'We can't...Solomon...we have to be better...we can't let the whispers see me being a hypocrite....though I am reeaaaaallllyy considering it.'

The woman walks towards me even though the man tries to hold her back....enough. I release a cold aura towards her. The killing intent hits her causing her knees to tremble. She fall while holding the man.

"Mo...monster."

Tears starts to stream down her cheeks.

I walks towards her, crouching down and holds her cheek.

"Listen...I will help you and try my best to protect everyone here....I'm not the enemy unless you make me one. Understand."

She nods reluctantly and looks to the floor despairingly. I look at Souichiro-san and Yuriko-san...they both nod in approvingly. I walk away and hold Chiaki-nee hand and head towards the dining hall for breakfast.

Chiaki-san looks at her with contempt.

"Arthur..I don't think this will end peacefully..you need to be careful. If anything happens to you....I know you don't know we that well and sometimes I felt that maybe father had a hand in it....the thoughts frighten me. You saved me...I owe you that Arthur. After seeing Alice...Shizuka-sensei, and the others....I've decided to protect you as well."

She smiles warmly at me, I tighten my grip on her hand and smile as well...

"Thank you."

"Alright, let's go and meet up with the others and have breakfast."

-Later That Day-

-The Woman's POV-

Damn that brat....can he see he should saving us by giving himself up...and how can people be blinded by his words...how many did we sacrifice to be this protected. I bit my fingernail feeling annoyed. Then I heard someone walking behind me...I quickly turn to see a familiar face.

"You...what were you doing? What were you thinking? You could have had help."

The person is standing under the tree, I recognized the male school uniform..it's from the Fujimi Academy, I can see the person face because he's wearing an Oni mask.

"It's not my fault that you failed. You were supposed to incite everyone to turn him in to us....since your inadequate in completing your job..then you can say goodbye to your flight out of here."

The person walks away causing me to feel scared..

"WAIT! I can do it! don't leave!"

"Do it right...or else."

The person walks away causing me to hold myself despairingly.....the boy..I must capture the boy! I want to leave this hellhole.

-Arthur's POV-

After we dealt with that woman...Chiaki-nee has been acting strange.

"Arthur...are you feeling alright?"

"Hmm...I'm fine Chiaki-nee."

"That's good."

...

This is awkward.

"Umm..so Chiaki-nee, about what happened in the dojo, I never truly apologize to you so....I'm sorry if I hurt you."

She look surprise and smile.

"Oh that, it's fine. I knew you didn't mean to hurt us...plus."

She looks down..and for some reason the atmosphere turns serious.

"Chiaki-san?"

She then looks at me with a serious expression on her face.

"Arthur!....I....I've been meaning to say this but I forgot due to that woman....Arthur, you're evil....but at the same time your not. The way you act, it's no different from any other individuals..the only difference would be your powers...yet you didn't abuse it. You didn't take advantage of us through your powers. At first I was afraid of you, I thought you're something inhuman...I thought you were a special kind of infected."

She bit her lips as she speak to me....

"But you're different..you've fought for us..I shouldn't have treated you that way...I'm sorry Arthur if I hurt your feelings."

She hugs me tightly...I hug her back and look at her.

"I'll protect you! I won't let anyone hurt you Arthur..."

I smile and nod.

"Alright..thanks Chiaki-nee."
