1 Chapter 1: The Reddit Post

<Main POV>

Bored, I scrolled through the home page of Reddit.

After a long (and hard) final exam at school, I was tired as heck.

And while Ma and Pa were still at work, I had to pass my time somehow until the pizza party tonight.

I thought scrolling through Reddit would've helped. But I guess there just wasn't anything interesting today.

'Sigh... Maybe I should just watch a YouTube video or something.' I thought in boredom.

-and just then, I happened upon a post titled 'WORM Interactive CYOA'.

Interested, I opened it.

WORM was a online novel series that I had binge read during the covid lockdown, and since then I had been a big fan of the series.

I had read the wikis, the fanfics and even reread the series couple of times when I didn't have anything to do.

There was just something about dark-adult type spin on the superhero genre that attracted me.

It was just... refreshing.

After the many copy-paste superhero films, something new was always appreciated.

Anyways.

I clicked open the post curiously and was surprised to see an empty comment section.

I thought for sure that there would atleast be some comments to make sure of the authenticity of the post (as there were many upvotes).

But I guess no one had tried it yet.

I didn't need to fear about an hack or a virus as my connection was well secured, because of running an VPN.

Now even more curious, I clicked open the provided link and was redirected to a fancy and well-made page with a bunch options and whatnots.

Like a traditional CYOA, it had asked me to choose a [Difficulty] before anything else. Depending on the [Difficulty] I would get [Points] which I could use to buy [Powers] or [Perks].

Of course, I chose the [Hard] mode. Which gave me zero points.

Now many of you would ask me, why? Why would you take the [Hard] mode Damian!?

And I would answer to them, because the [Hard] mode is always more fun playing with compared to [Easy] mode (and it also made for a much more interesting story).

Plus, this was just for time pass and it didn't matter what I chose.

Now starting with zero points, I had to choose some [Powers] going forward.

I didn't want to put myself in too much debt, as I would then have to even myself out with [Complications] (too many of those were a no go).

So no OP powers for a start, as they cost way too much.

'Then what should I choose?' I thought intently as I slowly scrolled down the page.

Something that wouldn't make my character complacent but also provide a decent potential for growth...

Finally, I stopped at what I considered an good option.

[My Hero Power!- Get a power from the world of My Hero Academia! For a price of 3 Points, you can choose any one power.]

'Hmm... This looks fun.' I thought but also looked at the other Anime powers of the section..

Of course, there were other famous anime here too. Like Naruto, One Piece, or even Bleach.

But I didn't think that they fit in with the setting of WORM as good as an MHA power fit.

Quirks provided power, potential and versatility but also weaknesses to balance it all out.

Now the only question was which power? Or Quirk as they say.

'Maybe [New Order]? Isn't it just nerfed reality warping?' I thought.

'Or maybe [One For All]? Having 7 powers in one is a good deal.'

But then I thought about what was arguably the best and most broken power in My Hero Academia.

'It's got to be [All For One].' I nodded to myself.

Was there anything I needed to say?

It was the most broken power of My Hero Academia.

In WORM, or any other superhero setting, [All For One] practically guaranteed that you would become powerful as heck (while also having a good growth journey).

So I selected that and moved on to [Perks] (skipping the [Companion] section because it sucked).

Out of the all the [Perks], nothing managed to catch my eye much. That was except the first one on the list.

[Blank- By taking this you would become invisible and immune from ALL thinker type abilities. This costs 1 Point.]

Taking that, I once again scrolled down on the off chance of finding something useful.

And thus, I found this.

[Singularity- By taking this you won't be able to have any clones, dopplegangers, alternate versions or anything else of the like. There would only be one version of 'you' in existence. This costs 2 Points.]

I honestly didn't want a "Evil Clone Saga" for my character. It was a overused trope and was honestly quiet boring. So I quickly took this one too.

Now, it was time to pay off the debt that I had built up by taking all this...

After scrolling through the [Complications] tab, I ended up choosing [Leviathan] and [The Slaughterhouse Is Hiring].

[Leviathan- Leviathan hit Brockton Bay in the canon Worm. Now his attack will be directed at you. Within a month of you arriving he will strike, attempting to slay you and do as much damage to the area as possible. Should you somehow avoid him he hits three different cities in succession, devastating them all in an attempt to draw you out. Facing him will prevent this regardless of the outcome, his goal to kill you or reveal your capabilities to the Protectorate and Cauldron. Grants 2 Points.]

[The Slaughterhouse Is Hiring- Taking this means that Jack Slash himself would take an interest in you once you start making a name for yourself. The Slaughterhouse Nine will be heading your way, with you as their primary target. If you don't want anything bad to happen to yourself and your loved ones then it would be best you 'deal' with them quickly because only Jack's death would stop him from coming after you. Grants you 4 Points.]

While they weren't the hardest complication on the list, they also weren't the easiest.

Both of them would also be good plot points in my character's story. Afterall you can't have a story without any adversities right?

Leviathan was big Kaiju villain who would be a good Arc 1 finishing adversity. As a fight with him would announce my character's identity to the world at large.

Slaughterhouse Nine on the other hand...

They were perhaps the most vilest Villains of the setting. With their leader, Jack Slash even being the catalyst for the doom of the multiverse.

... Yeah, it probably wasn't a good idea antagonizing such people but... This was just for fun right?

They would make good 2nd Arc villains. With Scion being the final boss.

I nodded at that. Yes, it made for a good story (atleast in my head).

And they would've arrived at Brockton Bay anyway (so these were free points if you looked at it from a certain point of view), and so it was better that my character took care of them beforehand.

And so, my character was finally complete. With that I just pressed the finish button...

Not knowing I was about to embark on an unexpected journey...

Full of ups and downs...

-Just as I pressed the 'finish' button, I suddenly started feeling sleepy.

'Mhmm, it's probably because I had been awake late last night.' I thought absentmindedly.

'There's no problem with taking a small nap right?' I thought as my eyes started to feel very heavy.

Before laying down and going to sleep on the couch, I took a one last glance of my phone screen from the corner of my eyes.

[Preparing For Travel...]

[Preparations Done!]

[Mission- To defeat/kill Scion, and save the Multiverse from the Entities by any means necessary.

Time Limit- None.

Travel Date- 8th April, 2 Days before the start of canon.

Reward- Ticket back to your universe.]

[Beginning Travel!]

[May Luck Be With You User!]

I stopped at the ominous message but shook my head a moment later.

Slowly my eyes felt heavier, and heavier as I slipped into the deep embrace of my dreams...

...

==================

And Done!

I've doing a lot of reading the past few months and don't have the time to write much because of college.

I had stumbled upon Worm after reading some of DarkWolfShiro's new Worm fics. They are very good I recommend it!

Anyways,

This is just an experimental series. I don't know if I will continue this or not (depends on the feedback).

So till then, see ya!
