2 TRAVELING

Next day we want to the market with Ummi to buy some present. Later we come back and prepare some of my cloth for the trip.

i wake up at the morning and take a bath, BAba also take a bath because he is the one that will escort me to the motor park. Before we leave BAba told me that i should take care and not leave house alone.

"City is different with this place Yar Baba , there are alot of rascals and dangerous peoples. Don't collect anything from the stranger and always listen to the elders. God bless you my daughter". Baba said to me.

I turn to Ummi were she stand glancing at me, i move slowly and hug her saying goodbye Ummi. Then we left giving her a reassuring smile.

At the motor park Baba call a man Dan Ladi and and ask him to help me on the trip, and also give him a phone number of aunty Amina's husband.

"He will come to take her, please make sure you call him when you arrive". Baba said.

Then he brings some money from his pocket and give it to Dan Ladi.

"Thank you sir". Dan Ladi said.

As our car move slowly, i turn to look at my father but he is still standing where he was before. looking at his face i know he started missing me.

I wave at him and said i miss you too.

Not so far we stop at fuel station to buy fuel. A little girl ran after our car to ask for alm. she is one of the girls covered with veil who begged along the road. Her attire symbolised that she may have good character. I believe that it's the situation that forced her to beg.

As our car move slowly and it was stuck in traffic, the little girl still caught up with the car more persistent. Then the one we were together in the car, a lady, smiled at her. And the little girl smiled back, still waiting for money.

Something hit the lady who was behind me in the car and i guessed, she just realized what the little girl missed all way long. The girl indeed missed love. The worse part of it, is being on the road all these while and had made people look down on her as not much of a human being but a beggar.

The lady could tell from the little girl countenance, that she was surprised at that unexpected gesture from a stranger. And then the lady smiled even more at her. She returned the smile. And still followed the car. The lady brought out money and buy her snacks. She watched as the little girl thanked her. The girl had before then shyly prayed for the lady "God bless you" in Hausa language.

Just then some of her fellows of which one was her brother telling from their resemblance also come along. But that lady had done her charity even if it was just one person. she waved at the fellows. Then the car moved on.

After a long ride we arrive at a small town were we stop to pray, in a mosque near the market. The mosque has two part, a male and female part. Dan Ladi ask a lady from our car to show me the toilet. As am coming back from the toilet i heard some men shouting thieve! thieve!! thieve!!!. it was a young boy of atleast fourteen years, steal a bread and get caught. Some men are saying that their should be allowed to beat to death but some says is hunger that force him to steal.

I stand staring at the boy after he was released, i can tell from the way he is eating the bread that our driver buys for him. That hunger force him to steal.

I remember a girl from the fuel station who is begging and this boy that steal fifty Naira bread because of hunger. people are suffering and no one cared for them, i said inside my mind. Then i thanked Almighty for blessing me to live with my family and friends.

As we continued our journey but i can't stop thinking, because i have many questions in my mind. What if that little girl from the fuel station, someone take advantage on her? is there anyone to stand for her. No! I give myself that answer. I heard alot about raping, especially the girl's like her who are always roaming on the street. Even the criminals get caught after few days their will be free.

Not so long from that town we arrive at Yan Kaba motor park. immediately Dan Ladi call aunty Amina's husband to take me. Uncle Aliyu arrive in few minutes in a black pegueot 406. And takes me home.

After we arrive Ihsan run and give me a hug, you are "welcome" she said to me. She helped me carry my bag to her room. Then i great aunty Amina and move back to room to take a rest. But i couldn't fall a sleep.

looking around for something to do,but i decided to take a bath, so i went a personal bathroom inside the room. after i finish the bath, i feel very fresh. Then i go back to the other room were they are watching a Hausa series movie "Kwana Casa'in" (A ninety days), i like the movie because it shows how corrupt some politicians are. later we go to the bed and rest.

At the morning aunty Amina call us to the kitchen and prepare a breakfast, Which is fried potatoes and egg. And "Dumame" ( a Hausa traditional food) for uncle Aliyu, because it's his best food for breakfast.

A week after aunty Amina was in her room reading a Hausa Novel, her phone rang. It was my mother, she called to tell her that i got admitted to Girls science secondary Toyawa. The school i was dreaming, because it's the best science school in our area. She also told her that i should go back to prepare for the school resumption.

i am happy and also sad, because i don't want leave Ihsan.

Aunty Amina gives me the phone.

Good afternoon Ummi. I said.

"How are you my Princess". Ummi replied in the other end of the line.

she also told me what she told aunty Amina.

In that day i visited many places, because by the next few days my holiday is over. Uncle Aliyu buy many things for me, especially the things that every boarding students needed.

The next day uncle Aliyu took me to motor park. Ihsan comes up to me while uncle spoke to the driver.

"I will miss you dear" Ihsan said.

Then i smile and said i will miss you too, enveloping her in a tight hug.

Their stand as our car move, i look behind me and found Ihsan standing. Her cheeks wet with tears. I wave at her and started crying.
