9 Chapter 9: Taste In Men

"What! Are you sure you're alright!" Luna quickly dashed towards to check me around to see if I was hurt. Wagging her tail around me to use as a sensor for any bruises. "I swear to god! If I see those assholes I'll turn all of them to frogs!"

"Chill Luna. I'm fine. I didn't get hurt badly. They just tightly gripped on me and sorta manhandled me but it was all good." I reassured her that I was fine, making her eyebrows raised.

"Geez. Why did you even work there at the bar? Can't you just work for me? I know you have like pride and dignity for working hard and all but sometimes you just gotta accept a pity invite especially if it's for your safety bestie." She scolds me. crossing her arms as she pouted with a scowl on her face.

"I would work for you but I already signed a contract with them that makes me work there for at least a few months. Don't worry though, once my magic contract expires, I'll start working for you." I smiled, patting her in the back to calm her down.

"Geez doesn't that bar have not any security or anything? For four grown men attack you in the street like that without anyone helping. it's just really irresponsible of them. You know?"

"I'm fine.. it was just that they cast a sound bubble on me so that's why I was not able to call for help but I was able to manage it though. I was even able to save myself before someone came to help me." I explained to her, still not changing her worried expression.

"Clearly you're not aware of the danger you faced, didn't you. This ain't just some sort of hiccup you can dismiss." She slams her hand on the table to get my full attention. "You know damn well that this place is full of people with the least clean backgrounds, one of them could have been a slave trader and sold you to be a human slave somewhere or they can be some sort of organ harvesters and had taken your organs and sold it after they are done with you. You do realize how expensive body parts are right? People would do anything for a quick buck, especially hurting others."

"I'll be careful from now on. Actually, it was your pendant that helped me escape them. I managed to trick them by turning into an ugly-looking old lady so they would try to touch me. it actually worked well that I didn't need the help of the guy that came." I said to her, making her face look at me curiously.

"A guy came in? For what? What did he do exactly?" She turned around to ask me.

"He checked up on me if I was alright and stuff and he was really nice you know. He even offered to walk me back and stuff. He was very sweet.." I blushed slightly, making her catch on that something is up with my reaction.

"Don't tell me you fell in love with the first guy that showed you some kindness. Ugh, talk about low hanging fruit." She chuckled jokingly.

"Oh please. Just because I don't settle for bad boys and jerks that end up dumping me in a few weeks does not mean I would fall in love with the first guy that was nice to me." I clapped back, making her face contort into a scowl.

"HEY! Rude!" She smacked me gently on the shoulder, making me laugh out loud. "It's not even my fault that I find those types of guys dreamy. I like dem bad boys but I shouldn't really expect them to change and be nice just cause I came into the picture. This ain't really some sort of fantasy or whatever. Though for real, did you actually fall in love with that guy that you just met? You do realize this ain't love at first sight shit right?"

"I don't know what to feel." I sighed. "I mean he's cool, I wouldn't exactly lie that I'm not interested but I guess I'll just have to see in the future."

"Girl.. you better get some good taste in men. Try finding some hot rich men that'd spoil you and change your life." She jokingly exclaims, making me squint my eyes.

"Right... your taste is just a recipe for terrible relationships.. honestly, I have better taste than you." I bit my lip, giving her a sarcastic condescending look.

"Please.. you haven't even dated anyone at all! Which reminds me!" She positioned herself closer to me and gives me a smirk. "Are you going to the courting of the prince tomorrow? Who knows what if that handsome rich prince might pick you to be heir and did I mention that he's rich?" Her eyes sparkled hearing the idea of being surrounded by riches and jewels...

"Yes. You've said that he's rich for like the fifth time or something. Literally like a broken record though I considered and sure. It's not like I have anything else to do and who knows. What if I meet someone there that I can be friends with other than you." I cheerfully looked at the bright side though I ain't exactly expecting to get picked to be the prince's bride.

"Wow! So you're going there to replace me! Rude! After all those times I was worried for you, you'll pick another girl to be your best friend and you're just going to abandon me!" She puffed up her cheeks, making a pouty face.

"Fine fine, you'll just be my best friend but I'll have to look for clothes to wear though. I can't exactly go to the ball looking like a trash bag."

"Don't worry! I got the perfect outfit for you! When my bar closes let's go pick out your outfit in my wardrobe, there should be something there that can fit you!" She smiled, rubbing my back. "So cheer up! Don't feel stress! I got you covered bestie!"

Great! I hope this doesn't end badly..
