13 Chapter 13: Make A Change

POV: Lisa Montagne

"Wha.. what do you mean? What can you smell exactly Luna? I don't really have a very sensitive nose because I'm not part beast like you." I asked her, genuinely concerned about her reactions. Though I have a feeling this might be some sort of joke.

"Just some traces of dark magic... I smell it a lot at the red light district but I guess the outside of the castle walls also has it..." She scratched her chin. Thinking of where that sinister smell can be coming from.

"You serious? Is this not one of your tricks to scare me as usual.." I crossed my arms in skepticism.

"Wha? No... why would you even think that? Since when did I pull a trick at you like this. Clearly, this is something important. Why would I exactly joke about dark magic lingering around this area? Since when I have lied to you?" Luna talked so confidently but I can already name something on top of my head on the times she did lie.

"You literally made me talk to a tree. Disguising it as a person with one of your illusions." My eyes squinted. Making her hold back her laughter as she remembered it.

"Well, that was one time! Though it was kind of funny seeing you get ignored though." She chuckled, turning my face red with anger.

"Right.. also, you told me that there was some sort of these bugs that roamed around the forest so I had to carry this stupid light bulb to scare them away but the truth is you just wanted to get some tan or something so you used me as some sort of human lightbulb." I brought up another incident, she then covers her face and lets out an outburst.

"Okay fine! I am kind of shady and I lie a lot but I'm being serious this time. There is some sort of dark magic that's going on here and it's not your bad fashion sense this time."

"Excuse me! Says the girl who wears the most uncomfortable dresses. It's like an iron maiden trying to walk with these dresses of yours." I raised an eyebrow at her and then we both hilariously laughed at one another. Just times like this make me forget about my fear and nervousness from going to the prince.

As we were both talking, suddenly one of the high-class women with their maid holding their bags was yelling at her servants angrily. "Hurry up and get my luggage you useless garbage!" The woman tightened some sort of doll that made the collar of the maid also grip tightly, choking her.

We look at each other with shock at how this cruelty was just displayed like this without anyone even stepping in to save the poor servant. Though it's clear that she is a slave sold in the market but she shouldn't be treated like this.

"Are you sure it's not the people that you're getting that foul stench from?" I sarcastically snickered, making both of us laugh.

"Haha, sadly no. The magic that they use to punish that slave is actually not dark magic. So it couldn't come from that. Though it is rather cruel to see her getting tortured like this." Luna answered in a whimper.

Continuing to look at the maid, the mistress then slaps her and shouted really loudly, letting everyone hear. "You useless good for nothing cattle! Buying you was the worst thing I ever did! You'll never eat a single meal for the whole week!" She shouted, threatening the woman that's already on the ground pleading for forgiveness.

At that moment, something came to me. My conscience continued to poke holes into my heart. Telling me to step in and save the woman, but I knew damn too well that getting involved is going to be trouble especially since that woman is a high classed person but still. This isn't right. The way they are treating her is so horrible. I can't just stand here and watch just like how I did when two of my dads got murdered and tortured. I'll have to do something.

I took a deep breath and declared. "I'm going to put a stop to this! I can't bear seeing that woman getting tortured any longer!" I got all my courage to confront her but Luna cast a spell to freeze me in place.

"Are you crazy!? Don't get involved there! Making an enemy with that woman is seriously not what we're trying to get here! If she gets angry, she can even let her anger out on you." Luna tried to convince me to stop my plan but my resolve was unbreakable.

"Luna! We can't just stay here and sit still looking pretty while that girl is crying and laying on the floor. We have to stop this! She may be a slave but this is not right! Wouldn't you also do the same if you saw someone being racist to a beast? If we don't tell them that it's wrong then they wouldn't listen." I reasoned with her, making her back off.

"This is a really bad idea, Lisa... I know you are chivalrous and like to help people but this is different! You're in the world of the rich now. If they don't like you, they can easily take you out without a problem that's why a lot of people often kiss their asses, you know, since you don't want to be on their bad side." Luna sighed, but I tightened my heart and readied my courage.

"Sorry, Luna but this has to happen," I responded before making my way over towards her. I straightened up my posture and walked over to them with confidence on my face. As I got closer, I can hear the cruel words being thrown at her as she laid helplessly on the floor.

The mistress then raised her hand in an attempt to slap her once again but this time..

"STOP!" I shouted, getting the attention of everyone in the garden. Now all of the eyes are looking at me.
