12 Chapter 12: Outside The Castle Walls

POV: Lisa Montagne

After a long ride of a carriage with rented to seem fancier than we actually are, we finally arrived at our destination. The crown jewel that's placed in the center of the kingdom is the Khisfirean castle. Home to the most beautiful gardens and the biggest and picturesque sceneries. It's truly the ideal place to live for anyone.

"Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! I can't believe we're in the castle! I'm so going to look very pretty and the prince is going to fall head over heels on me!" I can see Luna fangirling as she started jumping up and down followed by her fox tail wagging.

"Geez.." I scratched my head as I got out of the carriage, stepping completely still to balance the big heels I'm wearing. Just how are people able to walk in these big heels. It's absolutely tedious trying to balance over these big poles in your feet.

"Aren't you excited! We're outside the castle walls right now and we're going to meet the prince and the royalty! I'm so excited! Oh my gosh! I can't breathe!" She starts to hyperventilate, making me roll my eyes at her.

"Bestie, you know that they are just people right? Besides, this is just a castle. You don't need to start breathing heavily over this." I tried to calm her down, making her give me a scowl.

"Girl, you are so no fun. Way to go ruin the mood for me and shatter my princess dreams..." She pretended to faint like typical damsel distress, getting the attention of multiple people in the area.

"Hey! Stop! Don't just faint in the middle of the road like that! You're giving me second-hand embarrassment from the people that are watching!" I nudged her to stop fooling around as a group of people are laughing at watching us like we're some sort of barnyard animals.

"Oh right!" She stopped and tidied up her dress and stood up tall. "Sorry, bestie. You know I'm just really excited about this! My foxtail can't stop shaking." Her tail continued to jitter evident from her expression.

We both straightened ourselves up and decided to look around the magnificent castle. The walls were made of cobblestone that looked sturdy and the bridges were white marble. Statues around the palace were scattered in the garden of the past kings of the kingdom and we can see a few of the other women that were going there as well. All minding their own business while we check out the beautiful array of flower beds.

"Oh my gosh! Look at the pretty flowers! These roses are just to die for bestie!" She pounces quickly onto the flower bed, smelling them, getting the attention of the women around us. They all gave us weird stares and whispers like we were weird. I guess it's because they are high-class women with sticks up their asses.

"Anyways. I have a question for you." I tap her while she's indulging in some of the garden's roses.

"What? What is it, girl? Can't you see I'm smelling em roses here like I haven't smelled them before?" Luna chuckled, looking at me with an annoyed expression.

"You said that the prince was a cold and ruthless person right?"

She brushed her hair, sniffling from the pollen before answering. "Yes darling, I've told you about the many women he's made cry because of how scary he is. Pretty much the other women just went and cried after meeting him apparently."

"What?" My eyes widen at what I was hearing. "Why are there so many suitors then? If everyone knows that the prince is kind of an arse, then why bother to try courting him?"

"Umm.. for money duh? I mean that's basically the only reason you're here. Girl, there are just so many gold-digging bitches here that it doesn't even matter if the man is abusive. We just want their money, to live life a luxury and be treated like a princess and then the future queen of Khisfirean!" She began cuffing her hands, fantasizing about her being surrounded with riches or whatever. Geez. Luna is such a daydreamer.

"Good point. Though I guess I'm only doing this because I have nothing better to today..." I scratched my head but on the inside, I feel a bit shallow. Going to this event just to marry some guy I don't really like for money. I didn't know I can drop this low but I'm going to have to do this if I'm ever going to have a chance in trying to revive Chloe back from her coma.

"What do you mean you're just doing this BECAUSE you got nothing to do today! You're here too because you want to support my bestie! So you better support me and got my back sis!" She proceeds to hug me and covered my back with her furry tail.

"Ah! Stop! It's tickling me! Hey!" I chuckled as she hugged me intensely giggling but suddenly she stopped, standing still for a second and then breaking free from me. I shook my head in confusion as I can see her smelling something rapidly.

"Do.. do you smell that? That strong smell.. I remember it a lot.." Her cheerful demeanor immediately turned into a serious one. The wagging gleeful tail quickly brushed up in fear as she moved around to try to smell whatever it is, she is smelling.

"Wha.. what do you mean? What can you smell exactly Luna? I don't really have a very sensitive nose because I'm not part beast like you." I asked her, genuinely concerned about her reactions. Though I have a feeling this might be some sort of joke.

"Just some traces of dark magic... I smell it a lot at the red light district but I guess the outside of the castle walls also has it..." She scratched her chin. Thinking of where that sinister smell can be coming from.
