10 Love on the Beach

Riko and Karl were preoccupied with taking charge of the opposing party, while Rafael went on a trip to central Philippines accompanied by Kanna, Kyoko, Jiena, Eugene and his new partner Casey; as well as Gary.

Watching them with a mix of disgust and amazement, Jiena stared at the couple without blinking. She sipped her water loudly before speaking up. "You guys were only apart for three weeks plus one more because we graduated from high school."

"Well, that's already an eternity for lovers," Rafael quipped in reply.

"Yeah, Jiena, let's leave the lovebirds alone. They haven't seen each other for ages," Gary chimed in. "You know what? A beautiful girl like you deserves to have some fun too."

"Really? And who do you suggest?" Jiena asked jokingly as Gary tried his best to impress her with a straight face but failed and made everyone burst out laughing. "Definitely not someone who looks like Mojacko just like you!" Everyone laughed at the inside joke while Kyoko approached them with the keys to their suites.

"Gary's pretty lucky, he can hook up with girls easily since he has no competition in his suite," Kyoko said as she gave everyone their keys. Rafael, Kanna, Eugene, Casey and finally Jiena all arrived at the suites.

After a nap, they went to explore the pristine beach on the still-developing island that was already attracting tourists. Rafael's toned body caught some attention from nearby girls while scanning for other people around them along with Gary and Eugene who were wearing swimming trunks too.

She answered by saying sweetly, "Of course not. I trust you because I have felt so much love from you."

As they closed the window; slowly Rafael passionately kissed Kanna. The lass looked up at him, then nuzzled his chin with the top of her head, almost like a soft bump. He smiled and tightened his arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer to him. He kissed the top of her head, breathing in the scented shampoo she had used the night before.

She wrapped her arms around his chest, and moved to sit on his lap, resting her head on his shoulder. He moved her head up and kissed her, letting their lips move softly over each other. "After breakfast, we'll head back to Manila," Jiena said before leaving the restaurant and letting the lovebirds enjoy their time together.

Five hours later, they reached Manila and Bianca picked them up at the gate. "Long time no see, Bianca! " Kanna said cheerfully.

"I've been busy with our family business lately," replied Bianca as she started her car engine.

"So why did you come to pick us up?" inquired Jiena curiously. "We moved out of Grandma's old house since Dad can't take her antics anymore. I'm excited for you guys to see our new home!" exclaimed Bianca happily while driving off.

"Well then, let me get going too." Kanna turned to leave "I'll give a call when I reach home."

"Take care always!" Rafael bid farewell as he affectionately pecked on her forehead then joined Eugene and Casey."

Jiena, Rafael and Kyoko got to their new home that's known as the Marino Mansion. The mansion is on a huge property with high walls plus fancy security technology. Besides your typical garden and pool they have, there are even some intense protective features in place for extra peace of mind. Inside looks like something out of one of those fancy European castles; decked out with expensive chandeliers from Prague & cool paintings on the ceilings showing off what used to be going down around this joint back in the day! Anyways... all you really need to know is Hirofumi (aka "oji-sama") was visiting Karl and Riko while they were entertaining guests at dinner time whenever Jiena, Rafael ,and Kyoko walked into the dining room together .

"Just when I wanted to take a chill pill and have a great meal, the last thing I expected was seaweed," complained Hirofumi while sipping his tea.

"I mean nobody exactly forced you to dine here," replied Karl with a shrug.

"It's my right because my daughter lives here," Hirofumi said.

"Hey, cut it out," Riko begged. "Karl was only joking; he really respects you as his father-in-law."

"Respect?" Hirofumi scoffed and exchanged a puzzled look with Karl.

"Mom, Dad! We're back!" Jiena announced kissing her family hellos.

"My grandkids are all grown up now... I'm glad they didn't pick up someone's bad traits," Hirofumi muttered while glaring at Karl before shrugging it off. Bianca headed inside carrying her new puppy.

"I see you got a new pet," Hirofumi said, "What's his name?"

"Don't even ask about the name. It might offend you," Karl interrupted, while sipping tea.

"Why?"

"Bianca wanted to give him some absurd names. You know what she came up with? 'Harris.' I had to rebuke her for it because naming a dog after my assistant is unfair."

"That makes sense, then how did they eventually name the pup?"

"She ended up going with 'Hirofumi' which made me really mad."

"Yeah, that's not cool."

" Can you imagine having your pet named after you Oji-sama? That poor animal would never live it down!" said Karl

Hirofumi got angry and hit the table, "You scored again, you demon!" Karl tried not to laugh in front of his furious father-in-law who stormed out of the house. Riko sat beside her husband and stared at him for a bit.

"I love your sense of humor," she said. "Even though you're not conventionally attractive, I still fall for you more and more each day."

Karl chuckled at his wife's comment. "Yesterday, you called me ugly and a jerk. Now all of a sudden my ugliness is lovable?"

"Yesterday I was mad because you forgot our anniversary."

"Yeah, sorry about that. You know we got married in such a rush after finding out about the pregnancy."

Riko went quiet as Karl pulled an invitation from his pocket. "We should get dressed up and take the kids to this ball."

"Hey, there's this Mexican businessman named Fernando Escobal," Karl said while scratching his chin. "I don't know what he's doing, but you're a great socializer so maybe you can go check it out."

"Why me?" Riko complained.

"C'mon! Socializing is your thing!" Karl replied. Without another word, Riko went upstairs to change and told her kids about the party.

The party was held at a luxurious five-star estate, and Riko arrived with her children. They were warmly greeted by Fernando's secretary before entering the grand hallway. The Marino matriarch couldn't help but inquire about every detail in her path as they made their way to the function hall. As she entered, Riko surveyed the room full of powerful warlords and notorious underground figures mingling together, causing an unsettling feeling inside her gut. A well-dressed man in his fifties sporting a debonair look that emanated Mexican charm approached Riko cordially and extended his hand for a handshake."Madam Marino?" he queried politely; it seemed like everyone knew who they were. Riko maintained composure while studying him closely, saluting back partially out of respect for his aura surrounding him.

Glancing around the area, Riko muttered that it seemed to be full of warlords and shady individuals. As she did so, a distinguished-looking man in his fifties with a Mexican vibe approached her and introduced himself as Fernando Escobal while offering his hand. "Madam Marino?" he asked politely.

Riko confirmed her identity and exchanged pleasantries with him before noticing another guest approaching them.

Upon realizing that it was Albert Fontierra and his family, whom she knew well but disliked immensely, Riko couldn't help but feel exasperated at their presence. Fernando acknowledged the arrival of the Fontierras before remarking how familiar they were to each other. In response to this comment, Albert made a snide remark about there being something unpleasant present by saying "It smells sulfur around here."

Riko quickly took down the Fontierra patriarch and said, "You're probably loving this sulfur smell!" Albert turned to his wife and suggested they leave for a breath of fresh air.

Meanwhile, Riko wanted to catch up with her friends. Nearby, Rafael excused himself to go use the restroom while Jude Almeida entered slowly. As he approached the hall where Rafael stood nearby stairs, he gave him an intimidating look and made snide remarks about Kanna's love interest in Rafael. But Rafael wasn't bothered by it: "I got her first-- plain and simple," he said confidently. Jude insisted that Kanna would be safer with someone from a wealthier family like his own; but Raphael countered that Jude shouldn't underestimate his own family.

"We'll just see about that," replied Jude as both parted ways

In the women's bathroom, Kanna and Erina were touching up their makeup. When Erina mentioned Rafael's affection for Kanna, she didn't let it bother her.

"Rafael really loves you," said Erina.

"And?" replied Kanna nonchalantly. "I'll do whatever I can to take him from you," threatened Erina.

"Good luck with that," scoffed Kanna before leaving the bathroom while giving her a dismissive look. As Erina tried to grab her hand, she simply retorted, "You don't stand a chance."

Erina had no choice but to release Kanna and let her depart from the venue. While the festivities went on, chaos erupted when Fernando's crew suddenly stormed into the lobby, leaving everyone bewildered. Rafael, Jiena, Kyoko and Bianca rushed towards them to find out what triggered all of this commotion in the area.

Much to their amazement, it was their father who stood in front of his deputies- Tiffany and Jamie; beside them were Chuck - a long-serving force under Karl with superior brawn that could end someone's life promptly- Fumi along with Kazusa- exhilarating assistants of Karl renowned for beauty beyond compare.

Arjan, Karl's companion and business partner, has been by his side since their days in secondary school. In addition to overseeing the rest of Karl's pursuits, Arjan also shares a bond built on trust and loyalty with him. During Mr. Marino's difficult period, Arjan remained a steadfast friend to Karl and was privy to some of his most intimate secrets that he has kept hidden from others.

Fernando walked down the stairs and saw Karl, while Albert watched their surprise meeting. "Finally, I get to meet you," said Fernando as he shook Karl's hand in friendship.

"It's an honor to finally meet you too, Mister Escobal," replied Karl.

"What brings you here?" asked Fernando gazing at the grand palace.

"Well my best friend received an invitation and brought me along with his team," explained Karl casually

"I'm used to having beautiful company around," chuckled Fernando looking at some of his guests that were present

"Oh! Chuck and Arjan aren't girls" corrected Karl "I actually recognized someone who had entered inside here before which is why we're all here."

Fernando was sweating as Karl walked around him, smirking at Albert.

"Who's this guy?" Fernando asked.

"He's a murderer, fraudster and traitor who tried to kill a princess," Karl replied. "He goes by the name Javier Barbarin."

"Sounds like trouble," Fernando said, wiping his brow.

"Yeah, he's famous for plotting perfect murders," Karl said with a smirk directed at Albert. "Unlike some people who just send goons to do their dirty work."

"Are you accusing me of trying to put a hit on you?" a fuming Albert queried, clenching his fist.

The tension in the room was palpable as Fernando, Karl, and Albert traded barbs. The situation was escalating quickly, and it was clear that tensions were high.

"Oh!" Karl exclaimed, "I didn't utter any names, why would you say those words?"

"Now, Mr. Marino, I want to enjoy the party that I organized," Fernando said, "Now please if you may, please leave."

Karl and his gang left, making the visitor shaken. They were mostly part of some shady business.

"That's crazy! The famous Asia wise guy and Philippines' top goon in one room," whispered Fernando, "It's Karl Marino versus Albert Fontierra, total opposites."

"I gotta bounce," said Albert to Fernando after dinner. "Thanks for having me."

At the Fontierra mansion, Albert was very angry and started breaking vases, while screaming loudly. Aurora pleaded with him to stop and he calmed down a bit. He then turned his attention towards Kanna.

"I heard you're seeing Karl Marino's son. Is that true?" asked Albert. Kanna froze in fear as her father spoke to her aggressively. She took a deep breath before answering,

"What do you mean?"

"You know exactly what I'm talking about!" yelled Albert as he slapped Kanna across the face which made her fall on the floor crying. Aurora came forward pleading with him,

"Please hit me instead of my daughter!"

"You all go to hell!" shouted Albert walking out of the room leaving behind two weeping ladies- Kanna and Aurora on their knees .

At the Marino Mansion, Karl was looking out of his office window. Arjan sat with Tiffany and Jamie in front of Karl's desk, while Chuck stood by the door.

"That guy we're after must be close," said Karl confidently. "Either Fontierras or Escobal is protecting him."

Arjan checked through some reports before replying, "But we don't have any evidence yet."

Karl countered quickly, "I saw him hiding earlier." He looked around to see if anyone had noticed Fernando's flashy dragon ring.

Tiffany spotted what he was referring to and asked curiously, "What about it?"

"I have seen it before, but I can't remember," Karl notices Rafael's presence and asks "As far I remember, you were dating or seeing Albert Fontierra's daughter?"

"Yes, and I am dating her," Rafael proudly answered in a sarcastic tone.

"How about you stop seeing her and dating her?" Karl asked. He knew that it was for his son's good. "You'll only get suffering and anguish because of her."

Rafael walked out without saying anything further. Despite this, Karl decided to let him be thinking that his words had fallen on deaf ears. He didn't want to push things too hard with his stubborn son although he fervently hoped that someday, Rafael would finally realize the right thing to do. When everything has settled down, Karl breathed deeply while sitting on his desk knowing he made the best decision as a father trying keep an eye for what is best for his child .
