Ch 21: Helping the Village

Chase and Allyson were close at hand to getting help from the village, but the village chief Angie held that off and brought up a problem that needed help first.

"Damn I had a feeling that we weren't going to need to do anything for it."

"Oh no do not take it the wrong way here, I have no intention of using this for our benefits. We will still help you two regardless if there is any chance that you two may be able to help us."

"Of course, we would help what could be the problem that your village is dealing with."

Angie takes another sip from her cup and then speaks again.

"Our village is dealing with a goblin infection. It was small at first for it to not be a concern, but after a while, their numbers have grown to where they are now. Even more, so that our village and others nearby have taken some small attacks from the goblins."

"That explains the goblins we encounter attacking your people."

"Yes, it was quite the luck that you two came to save 2 lives before they were also taken."

"I have to ask though, hasn't the problem been sent to the closest town's attention to deal with."

Allyson saw right away this older woman's expression change into sadness,

"Sadly there hasn't been a response in helping with this problem since well goblins growing nests aren't much concerning these days with the war going on."

"I am curious about what exactly happens if the problem is taken care of at some point."

"Well Chase, that would mean the goblin's number goes on to grow until they can destroy villages coming across them. Each one these creatures can take over brings about more of their growth which will go on for a time until the situation becomes unstable and no longer able to be dealt with."

"Whoa, that's quite something that I wouldn't want to happen."

Chase can imagine it and doesn't like it one bit about it.

"Still how can the 2 of us be able to take care of the goblins alone."

"I know that it is asking a lot, but I am worried that if left any longer as it is our village will be the first one attacked."

Chase and Allyson look at each other and wonder what the other is thinking about the problem.

"Well, Chase, what are your thoughts?"

"I don't see why not to help with this."

"Easy for you to say goblins are weak to battle against when alone, but with a number of them it isn't going to be the same since these things don't play by any rules using whatever benefits the creatures."

"So you don't think we can do it because I think we can take care of this with just us both."

Allyson somehow starts to believe it as well as Chase's pridefulness he is showing off.

"Alright, Angie we would help with the goblins and bring back the safety this village or any other could feel again."

"I am grateful to hear, I hope it is not too much if you 2 would start right away at this moment."

"Yes, I think we can begin as soon as possible."

All three of them finish their cups and walk outside to where being led to the horses that are kept at the stables in this village.

Allyson picks the horse to take and ride over to the nest of the goblins without having to walk there which would take quite a long time.

The two of them were of course given a small number of supplies for their mission and of course a weapon for Chase as it was just a pickaxe being one of the working tools these people use.

Angie assured them of the location of where the goblins could be making it easy to find them.

After being all set Allyson and Chase start to get on the horse of course she was the one to take the reins since knowing how to ride this creature.

All chase could do was gently place his arm around her waist at the back quickly getting a reaction out of the girl acting surprised.

Allyson quickly controls herself looking back at him with a threatening expression as if he has done something wrong at this moment.

Which confused Chase not understanding what he did to piss her off and what reason this girl was blushing a little.

Soon they start to ride off in the direction of the goblin's nest while the village people watch behind wishing them the best of luck.

"So this is the cave these green ugly little guys are to be."

"Yes it is exactly the location Angie told us."

Allyson and Chase were looking at the cave in front of them not yet going in. The horse they ride over here is tied up somewhere not too far away from the area.

"Alright so we have to be careful here, we can't go in blindly without no knowing what is inside."

"Aren't there just goblins in here?"

"Yes, but there is not always a goblin, there is also a Hobgoblin or a shaman goblin."

"I am sorry what the hell are you talking about."

Allyson let out a sigh and didn't explain to Chase given what they're here to do is more important.

"Just follow me, I will explain it to you another time alright."

"Sure better that way for me."

Entering inside the cave A torch was imminently lit up to bring light as the deeper parts are dark for anyone to be able to see in.

Only the goblin creatures can see in the dark.

Allyson took out the sword and Chase ready the pickaxe for anything that came at them.

"Pay attention to everything around you and keep that guard up,"

"Allyson I got it, you don't have to tell me again."

"Look, it's just the 2 of us doing this. We have no clue what their number could be."

While they were walking it wasn't hard to notice the bones on the ground thrown around.

The thing is it was hard to tell what the bones belong to animals or humans alone at the moment, getting the sensing feeling of being watched.

Allyson and Chase look at each other not saying a word but knowing the eyes on them still moving forward.

It was just a matter of time when these goblins were going to make the move first to attack.

It Did not take long for that to happen as one of them jumped out from the shadow at Allyson.

Thought to have the upper hand at surprise yet was dead wrong where in one move its head was cut off from the body by a sword the female before it had.

Another one does the same going after Chase back, but that goblin had the same fate when the pickaxe in his hand found its way into the thin side of the head.

Its body hangs by the end of the pickaxe dead and bleeding, but not long after the thing was thrown forward.

After two goblins were killed the rest decided to come out and show themselves with some weapons in their small hands.

Both saw in front of them that the numbers were quite big against the two of them even more so that a lot are looking at Allyson instead of Chase.

"Hey, I can't help that these guys are staring mostly at you."

"It's not hard to see goblins have a big desire for the female to be wasting to capture, use whatever they want, and breed to make more of them."

Hearing that Chase moved himself to stand before her.

"What are you doing?"

"Protect you from them because these shits are going to have to go through me first and I am not someone easy to be beaten down."
