4 Something was Burning

She didn't expect her to be quite bold. Doing that at the back of the taxi... She was even younger than her. She was barely 17.

Ashley shrugged off her thoughts. It was her life. She didn't want to appear nosy so she just waited for the traffic to dissipate. After almost half an hour, she could finally break free from the jam.

She didn't know what to feel when the two, who were at the backseat of the taxi, were still making out. That meant that they made out for half an hour straight. It was super awkward knowing your 17-year old neighbor was having a kissing marathon.

She wanted to drive further  away from the vehicle but the taxi was still ahead of her. They were already  in a one way road so it was hard to overtake the car. She realized that there was another road connected to this one. It was longer but the two roads would lead to the same highway near the woods.

When she was at the end of the road she decided to turn to that high way though the other was the shortcut. It was better than being forced to watch their live show.

She drove to that road and it took her a bit longer to reach the highway in the woods. She was about to turn her car to the main highway when she noticed something burning ahead. It was like something was on fire. Stepping on the gas, she speeded up towards the main highway to see what it was.

Her mouth opened due to extreme shock and she gasped deeply. Her eyes wide open as she stared at the burning vehicle. It was already upside down and she instantly recognized it. It was the taxi a while ago! It was where Rebecca was!

Oh my God! She has to call 911!

She stopped her car and was perplexed on what to do. She panicked as she looked for her phone. She felt her pockets and realized that it was inside her purse. She reached out for it in the passenger seat. Her hands were shaking so hard she dropped her phone on the floor.

'Shit!'

She ducked to retrieve the phone but froze when she heard someone shouting for help.

"Help! Please! ..."

The voice came from a woman's. No. From a girl's. She knew who it was. It was from... Rebecca? She immediately turned to look at where it came from. She stared at the burning car only to realize that she failed to notice a hand peeking out of the car. It was weakly tapping the sides of the burning car.

The girl's screams were growing weaker and weaker. It must be because she couldn't breathe anymore and was losing her life.

"Help! *Cough... Please!" the girl shouted once more.

Ashley was woken up from her stupor. She immediately went out of her car and ran towards the burning taxi. She was in so much shock she didn't know what to do and how to help her.

"Rebecca?... Rebecca its Ashley! Just—Just wait there! I'll help you... I'll just look for something...to"

"Ashley?.... Ashley! Please help me! He's gonna kill me... Please!" she said breaking out into a cry.

"Wait—I'll..."

She didn't continue what she said and just ran to her car's compartment. Perplexed, she didn't have time to register what Rebecca said. She was busy thinking about what she might have in her car to help her get out of that situation.

She rushingly opened the compartment and realized that it was completely dark. She grabbed everything that she could find and threw out what was unnecessary. She basically didn't find anything helpful. She just wet the rope she found in her car and use it to pull up the the debris. She ran towards the burning car but she stopped in her tracks. Her heart sensed foreboding when she saw a man beside the car. He was staring at the hand that was tapping. Rebecca's, who was screaming for help. He wasn't there a while ago. He wasnt—He was?

He looked like the same person Rebecca made out with. If she wasn't mistaken it was really him. He was the same guy. Was he supposed to be outside the car already? He looks fine. He seemed to have survived?

Great! Maybe he could help her in saving Rebecca. They needed to help her fast or else...

She took a step towards him but stopped when she realized something. The situation didn't seem right. He wouldn't possibly be fine after all of that right? It was pretty d*rn impossible for a person to do that and how did he even get out of the car? She racked her brains but didn't find anything that would lead to his unscathed condition.

The whole scene suddenly turned eerie silent when the man suddenly raised his fist. It was like she became deaf. The burning sound from the car even disappeared. A chill trailed down her spine. Ashley was suddenly confused at what he was doing. It was strange that he even thought of that. What was he trying to do?

Why did he—?

BOOM!

The man hit the car with his bare fist. The impact was so strong the car exploded.Debris fell from the sky. She instinctively jumped down to prevent herself from being caught from the explosion. Her heart hammered against her chest. Her ears hurt from the loud sound. Scraps of metal stabbed her back. She covered her mouth from releasing a grunt of pain. Though she tried to dodge it she was just a short distance from... the man. She raised her head to look at him. He was still standing there doing alright even though the explosion literally happened in front of his face.

She stopped herself from screaming. Afraid that he'll hear her.

Rebecca...

What that man did to her still shocked Ashley to her bones. Fright was etching up in her heart. She didn't know what to do. She needed to escape, to run but... She was already so scared.
