9 Memories and The Accident

Ashley shivered as she felt something cold touch her forehead. At first it was soothing but moments later, it started to feel painful like something was drilling in her head. Her head started to throb so hard it started to grow numb

She wanted to remove the cause of her discomfort but her body couldn't move. The pain started to dissipate and she felt her body getting lighter. She slowly opened her eyes and carresed her head. She raised her brows when she found herself standing in front of a noisy crowd. The sound from the speakers boomed across the hall. People were littered around dancing, drinking and partying. They were all having fun and the laser lights completed the wild atmosphere. They were obviously at a party.

'What?'

She glanced around and realized that she was back to Sam's party.

She was puzzled and confused on how she got here. She clearly remembered that she was injured inside of her car and was just waiting for her death but... Why was she here?

Wait—is she dead? Did she perhaps... Become a ghost?

She was shocked at her sudden realization but turned her head when she heard familiar voices.

"Goodbye guys!" a girl with wavy black hair said to her friend's with a sweet smile. They bid their farewells to her and she decided to leave by squeezing herself in the crowd. Her cheeks were a bit flushed but she still walked straight.

Ashley who was weirded out by the situation instantly followed the girl. She was baffled at how this happened and why—was she seeing herself?

She ran towards the girls and just went through people's bodies. In this situation, she was really like a ghost. She didn't have time to worry about that. She needed to follow herself...

She found her opening the car while looking at her phone. She quickly passed through the doors of the car and sat on the passenger seat. She looked at the girl who started the car. She turned the music volume to the max and slapped herself to sober up.

Ashley reached out her hand to touch her shoulders but they just passed through her body. Right, it was like she was just a soul at this moment.

After minutes of sobering herself up the girl quickly manoeuvred her car to the road. She was happily singing and humming from time to time. She wasn't aware of the dangers that'll happen to her minutes later.

Ashley didn't know what to do. She wanted to warn her so that those things wouldn't end up happening but... What could she possibly do when she was practically invisible and intangible.

Everything was even happening so fast. It was like she was watching a live movie but it was fast forward. It was just seconds for her as she watched herself but half an hour passed when she looked at her car's digital clock. They were even approaching the heavy traffic so fast.

It was like the only purpose she was there, was to watch as the scene unfolded. Her chest tightened and she grew nervous. She didn't want to see herself suffer. The experience first hand was already traumatising. If she relived it again, it could break her spirit.

She looked at the car ahead of them and found that it was the same taxi. However, she gasped when she noticed something odd. The passenger was Rebecca but... She was alone.

How can that be she clearly remembered—

Wait. What is happening? Is this some kind of dream or its just a different scenario?

The traffic loosened swiftly and she was now able to go to the one way road near the forest. This was where all those crazy stuff happened right. She didn't know if she will come down or not.

It was surprising that, the her who was driving the car, decided to take the same route she did when she wanted to avoid the taxi. It was the longer road. Herself only drove silently.

Her phone started ringing inside the car. The ringtone was so loud her other self couldn't help but reach for her ears because it hurt.

'Who possibly called?'

She remembered nobody called her.

Her other self reached out for her bag and rummaged through her purse to get her ringing phone. Her eyes were glued to the road but she still couldn't manage to get the phone. She suddenly felt irritation coursed through her body and she turned her head to look at her phone.

She was unaware that they were already in an intersection to the main highway. A prolonged honk from a vehicle caught her other self attention and when she turned her head, it was already too late.

Two vehicles collided and with the strong collision the two cars flipped and staggered along the road. The other vehicle was the taxi. The impact made it roll over and wrecked the whole thing. When it stopped, the taxi immediately exploded.

Ashley covered her mouth with her shaking hands as the scene unfolded in front of her.

What in the world?

She turned her head to look at herself who was unconscious as she sat upside down inside the car. It was destroyed as the other car but since the force came from her's it didn't receive equal damage.

Her eyes turned hazy and tears began to pool in her grey eyes.

This can't be?!

This wasn't what happened right? This—

She went out of the car and stopped in her tracks when she realized she was back to the original setting. It was from the time when she was attempting to hit her car to the giant tree. Her attempt was a failure because her car was stopped a few steps from the tree.

'Everything was happening so fast! What? I don't understand? '

She approached the woman who was sitting down beside the tree while holding her unconscious body. She was touching forehead and was whispering something under her breath.

Ashley wanted to get closer so she took a step forward to where they were but stopped when the woman raised her head to look at her. Her golden eyes and that stoic expression rendered her immobile.

"Forget!" she said. She creased her forehead in response. What? Forget? What was she talking about?

It dawned to her that what was happening was definitely related to the woman. She must've —

In a span of seconds, time seemed to stop as she lost her balance. She was knocked down and fell to her back. The piercing sensation in her head came back as she screamed from the pain. It was unbearable. The darkness shrouded her surroundings and she fell into the abyss… Losing her memories of what truly happened that night.
