We don't need you anymore. Malachi was a nobody. At best he was the protagonist's childhood friend, the confidant, the instigator and the one left behind. When all is said and done they'd forget about him, caught up within themselves. And when the main characters decided to leave their 'friend' behind, what is one to do but to live on?
