16 Taking a walk

Walking down a suprisingly clean road, Mizuki was humming a tune while making a few customized magic circles and saving them in her memory.

"There isn't really anything to do other than hunt here is there?" she sighed as she sent an icicle to a bush by the side of the road.

"Koark!"

A hobgoblin fell down on his face with a semi frozen hole in his torso. The ice spread to the entire body and crumbled to dust.

Mizuki had taken her leave after activating her spell. She had seen the outcome numerous times as her new ice spell was certainly helpful.

Using the shadow, ice and gravity elements, the ice would spread across the entire body while corrupting the inner organs with shadow. When the entire body is covered and all the organs corrupted the gravity element would kick in and turn it all into fine dust.

Ofcourse the spell always left the magic crystal intact. Not because it was programmed to do so but because it could not.

No matter what element was used the magic crystal would not break to a magic circle of the same tier or lower.

"I'm using gravity magic for most of my spells now. I wonder if I should focus on it."

"I do have my Moon element that will always stay one tier above my current one but I have not used it yet."

"Taking the properties of the moon into account the element will most likely synergize well with the shadow and ice elements maybe space and gravity too. Besides synergizes the element itself wont be very useful with neither attack or defence, most probably it will be used for support."

"So buffing, debuffing and the like. If I use it with my normal spells it will boost them to tier 4 if I am not incorrect. The problem here is that I can only use the element at night. Either that or I can try to make my own artificial 'night' in a designated area."

"..."

Thinking about it for a few more moments Mizuki let out a sigh and started walking with an elevated pace.

"Bahh. I can try it out later, I'm heading out to become a pirate for a while anyway so why would a pirate contemplate like this."

Mizuki took a sip of water, wiped her mouth and continued walking to the port city of New Seelnd.

"Christ when am I gonna arive? It's been like 3 days! Did the maker of this map just make it to scam people?"

Mizuki has been walking for 3 days and 14 hours, only taking a 2 hour rest every day and a half.

"God this is annoying. The map says that it should only take about 2 and a half days to reach it and here I am. Walking for more than three and not a single sign of civilization."

What Mizuki did not realize was that the road she was following along with the total time written on the map was meant for carriages not for walking.

"You know what. At first I wanted to walk in order to not harm the ecosystem but screw it. F*ck it even."

Mizuki got into a sprinting position and muttered.

"I got places to be."

A sudden gust of wind spread out from a crater in the middle of the road.

If anyone was nearby they would only see a streak of silver and white before a large gust of wind would blow them off their feet.

"Still not fast enough."

Using one of her previously made magic circles, it glowed under her feet as her speed skyrocketed.

Gravity, wind, lightning, ice and light. All of these elements were used in a single tier 3 magic circle. Gravity so she could run with larger steps, wind to get rid of air resistance, lightning to increase the speed and strength of muscle movements and reaction speed, ice for her to skate so she would not trip and light to protect her eyes. She could have added sound as well but that would be over the top.

Mizuki could only describe this spell as 'handy'. She did not realize that some after effects might linger due to her spell.

I was walking my usual route to the port city to get some food and other supplies for my parents and I.

Like normal I had just reached the road and started walking. Before I could take even a single step I noticed something weird.

The pebbles and rocks were moving. The weirder part was that they were floating. Looking around I didn't see anything out of the ordinary so I tried to ignore it and inform the guild later. Maybe it was a mutated monster or something, I could only hope that the guild would provide a solution for this.

Not that it really mattered if it was not a monster I would keep the rocks floating. It would be pretty interesting after all.

After taking my first step and going to take my second I could only see a flash of silver go by past me.

Trying to use [Identify] on the moving streak that was heading towards the city I only got one thing.

[Error]

Before I could question it and before I could do anything a frightening gust blew me off my feet.

I landed on a tree near the road and fell off a moment later because I could not balance myself on the branches.

"What the hell was that?" was the only thing I could say in this situation as I gazed towards the city. I could only hope that nothing would go wrong.

...

"Oop. Almost ran someone over." said Mizuki as she stopped a few hundred meters before the entrance to the city.

"Well. At last. Or should I say something like finally~."

Using the space element to teleport inside the walls of the city, Mizuki started walking towards the ocean while looking around for information involving pirates and the like.

"Yo ho ho or whatever pirates say. Time to get myself a ship."
