79 Fifth Day, Lesson

Finishing her sandwich, Mitsuna saw Natash slowly eating in silence.

Turning to her teacher who was licking her lips clean, she awaited their training schedule for today.

Empathy adjusted her glasses and spoke.

"No stamina training today. Instead, I'll teach you about the fundamentals of Techniques since you'll start learning them in a few days. Natash. Pay attention too."

Natash finished her sandwich and looked towards her teacher, waiting.

"Right." Empathy said with a sigh as she continued talking.

"So, Techniques. Hmm, where to start?"

Empathy held her chin while closing her eyes.

"They originate from the east and started popping out about 3000 years ago.

Techniques have 12 main types: Flame, Hydro, Tempest, Stone, Thunder, Glacial, Lunar, Solar, Dusk, Dawn, Twilight and Eclipse.

Dusk, Dawn, Twilight and Eclipse are pretty new and only about 1 or 2 hundred years old.

Along with the 12 main types, there are subs. This is where Techniques start going ham. Everyone can make their own type. For example, using the main type Solar and adding the subtype Sky.

This is where subtypes come into play, they are used like they are a sort of extra addition to the main, which makes them very deadly since they can be unpredictable.

Unlike main types, subs don't have a set number of options. You can have the sub of fire or air like elements, or you can have ant or deer like animals. If you know what you are doing you can go bigger like the sub of ocean or void.

Sadly, most people think that adding a sub to your chosen type narrows its uses and decreases overall power.

Stupid and dumb, honestly.

Most idiots that don't know much and don't have a teacher or reference to ho off of only use about 1 or 2 main types and think that's enough.

Since if you don't have good mastery over a subtype or the sub and main don't have synergy, the overall stats decrease which pushes people away since stats are so important.

There are people around that only use a subtype as well. But they are weird so I recommend staying away from them. Any questions?"

Mitsuna raised her hand.

"Yes, B?"

"How do you know what main to use?"

"You don't. You just try every single one and hope that you have talent with one."

"Is that why some people only use subs?" Natash butted in, with a small glimmer in her eyes.

Empathy smiled as she saw this.

'So she isn't scarred or anything.'

"Yes. That's the reason. When you get enough stamina, I'll test your affinities with each main Technique."

"Really, yes?"

"Yep."

"Meanwhile you better pick out a sub. Remember, they can be anything no matter what element you have."

Empathy said as she winked towards Natash.

Seeing her partner light up, Mitsuna smiled.

'Thank god she hasn't changed much.'

"Now get to swinging your swords."

"Teacher, didn't you say we weren't doing any stamina training today?"

"I did. And this isn't training stamina but training the sword."

Mitsuna stood up with a sigh, hearing a similar one from Natash, she had a slight smile. Turning around, she felt sore.

"Teacher, I have a question."

"Shoot, B."

"I have a regeneration skill that heals a small amount of my maximum health every few seconds. So why didn't I heal faster after getting injured and I still feel sore?"

"Oh, that? Didn't your parents... never mind. Well, those skills are normally passive and work along with the body. You can think of it like when your body is severely damaged so are the passive skills. Since you aren't in perfect condition, so aren't your skills. It is also slightly affected by your status. If you're sick or poisoned or tired the effect is bound to drop slightly. And if you have something like a hole in your stomach, the skills will basically only work at 10% output at most.

But there is no need to worry. Even if you are at death's door, the skills will still work and if you don't get damaged much within that period while waiting at death's front lawn, the skills will slowly start working like usual again."

"Thank you for your detailed explanation."

"Don't mention it. If your parents don't teach you then who will? Now go. Train."

Walking outside and joining Natash in swinging the sword, Natash started to speak to her after a while.

"Hey, Mitsuna."

"Mhm."

"Did your parents treat you well, yes?"

"They are nice. Although they basically made me train after a week of being born and sent me here to train some more some time ago, I do hold them dear."

Natash looked at Mitsuna with slightly uncertain eyes but did not hang on it for long as she continued to swing the sword.

"How about you? Do you like it here?"

"It's... nice. Peaceful, yes."

"I know right? If you factor out our sadist teacher and the fat pigs in the forest then it's pretty nice."

Mitsuna whispered the last part.

Seeing how Natash snickered and let out a little laugh shortly after, Mitsuna smiled at her partner and they continued their small talk while swinging their blades till sundown.
