Prologue

"It has been many years, my children, since I have created this world. The time has come for you to compete for my favor, for all my children to gain a fraction of my power to compete to take on the role of my divine throne. This world is but one of many, many of which far surpass even my mightiest creations, many of which are my allies in the true world of which many of you will never reach. The alliance of which I'm apart has strict requirements for their members, and their number is ever-growing, one of the main requirements of this alliance is that we use our worlds to create beings like you and align you to our goals, and eventually if you grow powerful, recruit you into our alliance."

"The world in which you are now in, while empty, should be a big comfort, for it is a world that is now forever innately a part of you, till death do you part. The black expanse before you is merely awaiting your will, and as soon as it's willed its appearance will alter to match your affinity."

"Some of you may be mere weaklings in your realm, beings that can be killed with a glance or tap, but through this world, you stand to gain everlasting life and endless power. Some of my power will be consumed to offer each of my creations (one hundred years) of time, described in your realms unit of measurement during which you will be able to grow without worry for your lifespan will remain without a ripple and your safety at the highest level of my realm."

"I urge you to be diligent, for the greatest war your realm has ever faced awaits you when the time is up, you may find that the weakest creature can kill you as you killed them before if your sloth takes control."

As the divine being's words ended, the world around Daniel quickly began to mold itself. Surrounded by blurs of color and shapes, he rapidly began to panic. Though he innately felt at one with the world he found himself in, the situation was hard to grasp for his nineteen-year-old mind. Disoriented, he began to do the first thing that came to mind; run.

Or at least, he attempted to, but soon felt himself rapidly falling down an endless void before a big mass of dirt slammed into his chest, pulling him up (down?) and sending him flying towards a blur of brown and green before he lost consciousness.

As he regained consciousness, Daniel momentarily felt confused before realization set in and calm washed over him. Whether the result of the calming presence of this world or the diving being, Daniel felt completely unalarmed at his situation, his previous fear feeling like an illusion.

Standing up, his gaze took in his surroundings and he instantly opened his mouth in shock.

"Holy shit!"

The world around him by this time had completely taken shape, revealing a seemingly endless patch of green in front of him and a forest behind him (apparently, he had lost consciousness when he hit a tree). Though he couldn't see it, Daniel also found himself acutely aware of the existence of a lake close by as well.

As he was gawking at the scenery, he found himself suddenly drawn towards the ground in front of him, and saw a worm crawl its way out of the ground before waving its head at him seemingly as a greeting.

Amused at the situation and surprised at the absurdity of the situation, he couldn't help but laugh before waving towards the worm. Taking a seat, Daniel found himself feeling oddly warm towards the small creature before him. Whether due to this feeling or the fact that it's the first being he saw in this world, he couldn't help but spend a long time watching it.

While he watched the creature before him, the creature stayed in front of him, seemingly watching him as well before as quickly as the first, another worm came, and then another, and another before two hundred worms seemed to be all around him, the warm feeling from before turning into a deep love for these creatures as endless benevolence swarmed out of him, shining the worms in a bright light.

As the warms bathed in this light, they seemed to undergo a change, their appearances growing bigger in length and thickness, growing to around two feet long and six inches wide. As their transformation grew complete, Daniel began to feel as though the worms before him were his own children, as if they came out of him as some sort of weird butt worm baby.

A few moments after the changes that took place in the worms, worms Daniel thoroughly believed to be earthworms (nightcrawlers), knowledge began to appear in his mind telling him what his purpose in this world was, to make the species he chose the dominant species in his realm, something made to be an easy task for most species. Looking at the worms in front of him, Daniel almost had a headache, but looking at his worm children (wormdren?) he couldn't bring himself to be angry or disappointed.

The world in which he's in control of is merely around six miles by six miles long and is roughly a quarter water, two-quarters grassland, and a quarter forest. The forest was a mix of oak trees, apple trees, and peach trees and populated by a hundred bluejays, while the lake was a mix of a hundred bluegills and three hundred flies with flowers around the edges. The grassland in which Daniel innately felt his worms should live had wild carrots and potatoes growing mixed with the grass.

While it would seem like it would completely impossible to take over the realm with mere worms, Daniel possessed something the other creatures in his realm didn't, divine authority. Through his authority, the species in which he is the divine lord can rapidly improve and adapt traits he considers necessary to thrive, though of course 'rapidly' is in relation to other creatures.

Though he possessed divine authority, it was merely in its weak stages and bestowed to him by the divine being, not his own and he was far from capable of changing his worms overnight. He can sense that even if he puts his all into developing his species in a specific direction it would take him a quarter of his time, or twenty-five years, and that is including the already rapid breeding of worms being further enhanced by the blessings released when he first received divine authority.

The blessing increased the size of his worms while also allowing the worms to have three batches of children a week rather than one to two and resulted in 28-30 worms rather than the four to twenty one can normally expect from their non-blessed earthworm counterparts. In addition, these worms also received an increased lifespan allowing them to live sixteen years rather than the standard 4 to 8. Sadly, this blessing was only on these two hundred worms, after they died their benefits would be no more.

Exerting his will, Daniel quickly consolidated his knowledge and got his worms to move into the grasslands and away from the bluebirds which he innately sensed would remain in the forest until their number was greater than the food produced.

Daniel once again found himself on the verge of a headache as he began to plan how he would bring his worms to greatness.
