9 Chapter 7

"What are we doing again?" Hourn asked as we sneak in the corner, "We're investigating that girl whether she really is the necromancer or not, the others are also investigating other suspicious students if they ever encounter one." I explained as I watched the from earlier in the cafeteria stood in the hallway alone, students passed by not giving her a single glance, I'm guessing she's a loner I guess?

"Oh."

We decided that we were going to follow the girl to confirm our suspicions, Henessi, the fae brother of Garreth said that he did sense something odd towards the said girl, but he didn't confirm if she was really the necromancer, or she has any relations towards the target.

"Can't I just go stake out with my mate instead?" Hourn whined while leaning in the wall dramatically, Garreth and I shared looks and rolled our eyes, "You're not going to die, Hourn, so please shut the fuck up."

He pouted and crossed his arms, letting out a huff grumpily, so we went back to our stalking.

It's not like the girl we are observing showed any weird behaviors, except for that one moment in the cafeteria, the only thing she was doing is that she's only leaning on the lockers and tapping away on her phone as if she's texting someone at the moment, "I wish we brought Henessi with us since he can tell whether a person is exerting mana even if they are casting it discretely." Garreth mumbled.

It was a surprise that this person still hasn't found out about us, it is either she does know we're here and decides to shrug it off or she's completely oblivious of our presence, which I hardly believe since if she's the necromancer, then she should be aware of the presence around her, to be able to become that threatening and for the government to call for us, the paranormals for our assistance.

"Shouldn't we just confront her? Stalking her like some three obsessed freaks won't get us anywhere, paranormals are pretty open now unlike centuries ago so we can just be honest with her, if she still denies it, we can just leave it to the espers since they are pretty much more reliable when it comes to magic type creatures, or humans at the matter of fact." Hourn explained, growing very irritated and bored at the stake out we're currently doing.

I stopped and leaned on the wall for a bit to ponder at the suggestion that Hourn proposed, I mean he has a point, but we can't just go there and say 'Hi, we're shifters that are sent to investigate the current issue, are you the necromancer?'

That would be pretty idiotic and reckless.

"No, it's only our first day and it is relieving enough that we are on our way to starting our progress, we can't just jump and blurt out questions to every suspicious person if they're the necromancer or they're someone connected to that person, it could give us unwanted attention." Garreth said and smacked Hourn at the head who whined at the impact and glared a the lion.

"What are you three doing?" We looked up to see Jade and Lionel, standing as they gave us amused looks, who wouldn't be? Seeing three huge guys like us sneaking and crouching in the hallways like retarded troglodytes as if we're sick in the head.

"O-oh hi!" Garreth said and blushed, standing up to greet Jade, "Where's my mate?" Hourn said in disbelief as he stood up as well, "Oh, he's with Laurelle and Henessi, they decided to separate with us so we might do a more easy job." Lionel said walked towards me.

"Any news?" Garreth asked, "Apparently, yes, we did see traces of summoned souls around the school, even in the football field, but other than,we didn't find anything out." Lionel replied and grabbed my hand, helping me stand up in the process, "How about you three? Any clues?"

We all shook our heads which resulted to simultaneous sighs from the five of us, it was only the first day so it's fine if we didn't make any improvements by today, but of course by the end of the week we would need to make our reports to my father and Lady Irene, because if we don't, we could get in trouble despite the father-son relationship we have, since when it comes to business, or things like these, dad becomes a strict and serious alpha.

"How about we also do night shifts?" Hourn asked, the four of us turned to look at him with a curious and confused expression, "I mean, two of us would go night shifts and go spy here in the school while another two will explore in the city? It would help us make more progress rather than staying in school everyday waiting for a miracle to happen."

"Not a bad idea, that way we can also report to the alpha and Lade Irene faster." Garreth said as we walked down in the hallway, I looked behind me only to see my mate looking rather glum, I slowed down my pace to match his.

"Hey, anything wrong?" I asked and held his hand, he seemed too focused on what was on his head so I did the first thing I knew of that would make him get out of his trance, I leaned down and kissed his cheek which made him startled and blush as he turn to look up at me with a confused look as if he was a lost kitten.

"W-what?"

"You looked a little lost so I had to catch your attention somehow, is something bothering you?" I asked as I wrapped my arm in his shoulder, pressing him beside me as we followed our friends who were chatting happily, Hourn was currently looking pissed as Garreth and Cade acted as if they were real couple just to tease Hourn and piss him off, since his mate wasn't with them.

"Ah, it's nothing." He smiled and looked straight ahead with a faint smile, I knew something was up so I'm going to have to find out
