8 To Hogwarts

August 31st 1992

Tomorrow Noah would be going to Hogwarts. At the moment he was going through a book on magic theory. At first Noah thought learning spells were just reciting the spell and wand waving. Only now did he realise that there was a lot more to it.

Truely mastering a spell would allow a witch or a wizard to modify it in any way necessary. They could use a simple 'incendio' which lights fire to small things into a small fire storm ( AN: like what Dumbledore used to fight inferi )

Or a wingardium leviousa to make multiple objects move about according to the caster.

Noah was therefore trying to learn all the magic theory he knew. As of now he could freely manipulate the fire produced through 'Incendio' but could not form large quantities before being exhausted. Most likely due to his small amount of magic.

Other than 'Incendio' he had a good control over 'lumos' , 'wingardium leviousa' and aquamenti. He could still perform other spells but not with the same control and precision.

As of now Noah couldn't control transfiguration to a high degree. He had converted match sticks into needle but could not make exquisite designs as mentioned in the books. But he had only spent a month and a half on it so he was sure he would be able to do it soon.

Noah also went through his potions text book. But this time his luck wasn't too good. He realized that although he could understand spells better his memory wasn't really good. He couldn't remember all the ingredients and steps of potion making even after trying for a long time. After an entire day of trying he just gave up and closed the book.

1st September 1992

The sky was bright and clear with the hustle and bustle of people. It was 10 : 30 AM and kingscross station was filled with people. Noah and his family were between platform 9 and 10.

Noah saw four pillars between the two platforms. That's when he remembered Professor Mcgonagall telling about 3/4 meaning the third pillar.

But he didn't know what to do with that. 'He couldn't just go through the third pillar, right?'

"Son are you sure you got the address right. There doesn't seem to be a 9 3/4 platform. " his father asked anxiously.

" The address is right Dad. Professor Mcgonagall told me something about the third pillar."

" Honey, it's the magical community it could be that if you go through the pillar you could reach the platform mentioned. " Mrs Evan's intoned.

" Maybe your right mom I'll try it." Noah pushed his trunk and went straight to the wall. when he was about to collide with the wall he passed through it. When he looked around he saw a huge group of people. they all carried trunks similar to his. Some had owls too. There was sign board that read:

platform 9 3/4

Noah was once again reminded of the wonder of magic. He quickly regains his wits and went to inform his parents.

After a quick goodbye and a farewell hug from his parents he quickly returned to the platform. Noah picked his trunk and went inside the train towards the first year cabins. After a some time of search he found an empty one and quickly sat down.

Shortly after someone opened the door and to Noah's surprise it turned out to be Ginny.

" Hello ginny, come on in. "

" Noah, nice to meet you"

Ginny gave a quick greeting. The girl was really nervous and was happy to find someone familiar. She took a seat opposite to Noah. They kept chatting for a while about what they did throughout their summer and other casual topics. Midway through the train already left the kingscross station heading towards Hogwarts, their new home.

Ginny was a bit surprised when she learned that Noah was studying magic most of the time. But soon she turned nervous. 'What if I'm the only person who didn't read the books beforehand'. Since she didn't have any friends of her age group she was absolutely clueless.

" Noah I haven't read anything until now. Do you think I'll be okay in school."

"Dont worry about it, your from a wizarding family afterall." Noah who had been affected by Hermione's ' we're muggleborn so need to catch up to the test of the magical community' was totally clueless.

Ginny was gonna speak more but the compartment door soon opened putting a stop to her thoughts.There was a bushy haired girl with rabbit teeth outside.

" Hey Hermione, what's up. Where's Harry and Ron."

" I can't find them anywhere. Ginny do you know what happened to them."Ginny just shook her head.

"Don't worry about it Hermione. Nothing could have happened to them. We can tell the Professors once we reach Hogwarts. " Noah saw that she was very anxious so he tried to calm her down.

" sigh! , maybe you're right Noah. By the way did you study well." Hermione asked Noah with a little anticipation. Hermione being the way she is always wanted a fellow nerd. Although she has friends now that doesn't stop her from wanting to befriend someone of similar interests. Someone different from ' the dundrrheads ' as a certain potions master says.

" I've gone through the various spells but I haven't completely mastered all of them. As for potions and herbology I'm really bad at it. "

" Oh then show me some of the spells you know." Hermione exclaimed with a twinkle in her eyes that could rival a certain powerful wizard.

Noah took his wand in a quick motion and cast a spell at the cabin door. " Colloportus"

Noah who saw Hermione as an elder sister really wanted to impress her (AN: For anyone in NoahXHermione ship don't worry it might change in the two years to come.)

Hermione tried to open the door with her hand but couldn't. Then she had to use 'alohomora' to open it. She was a bit ecstatic as though it was she who did it. "What else did you learn."

Now Noah cast " aquamenti " and a blob of water gathered in front of him then with a quick swish and flick he cast "wingardium leviousa" preventing the water from falling down. He made it go around the cabin once before throwing it out through the window.

Noah could do such quick casting and control only because he had mastered it. No other student below fifth year would have been able to execute such fine control over these basic spells. Of course this doesn't mean he had the prowess of a fifth year. In a duel a strong wizard from second year could still defeat him. Especially since Noah hasn't learnt any offensive spells yet. The book for first years didn't contain any of those.

" Excellent Noah, but if you want to learn more powerful spells you should look into Hogwarts library. You'll learn more spells like this." Hermione quickly cast "petrificus totalus". Noah was immediately hit by the full body binding curse. Hermione wasn't as good at practical spell casting like Noah or harry who was good when when it comes to dangerous situations. But still Noah didn't know any combat oriented spells nor did he expect her to cast a spell on him. He was a complete noob.

"H-Hermione what did you do." Screemed Ginny. She was watching in awe of Noah till now but was startled by what Hermione did suddenly.

"Calm down Ginny I'm just teaching him a spell. I'll bring him back to normal soon enough. See Noah, if you don't learn stronger spells you might be easily defeated. Now get up. Reparifors"

The body binding spell was soon undone and Noah got back to normal. Since it was only a body binding curse Noah could still hear and see everything so he clearly understood what Hermione meant. Thankfully due to this debacle Hermione wasn't so anxious anymore.

The rest of the journey went with the three making casual talks. and occasional magic discussion between Hermione and Noah. Noah learned quite a bit from it and Hermione was quite satisfied with having someone to talk about magic theory.
