It was utter chaos.

They neither can refuse the royal proposal, nor they can accept this. The only outcome of this proposal was to marry both Camy and Ceci to Vladis. However, Mr. and Mrs. Taylor didn't want this to happen. They both knew that Ceci and Camy were harmonious sisters but who is to say what will happen ahead.

' Love is a blind game which only fools play'

Rune was enraged after listening to this. He can't imagine marrying off his one sister to that feeble Vladis forget about marrying off his both sweeties. "Decline it". Runes said loudly.

Camy and Ceci got tremors after hearing their big brother Rune's chilly voice. They have never heard such a murderous tone from their brother. Sensing that the hands he was holding were sweaty he lowered his cold aura and smiled amicably at both. After Seeing his calm smile the sisters were now less terrified. It was nothing new, to begin with. They both knew that no matter how much love and care their parents provide to them eventually they will be married off to someone, but they didn't expect this day to come this soon moreover both the sisters were uncomfortable sharing a man.

They knew that it could become an enormous problem and might turn both of them into enemies. The meager idea of becoming an enemy to each other made both of them scared to death.

"No, they can't do this."

"We cannot agree to this ridiculous request".

Mr. Taylor understood the dilemma of both sisters and the rage of his son. He too was enraged and despaired after hearing this but there was more to this. Before he can even say anything, Rune stood up from the sofa and announced in a solemn tone. "I need to talk something important with knight Vladis, please excuse me father" with that he strode forward before he can even reach the door Mr. Taylor spoke," Where do you think you are going Rune"

"Retreat. Don't you have any faith in me?"

"Do you think I will just sit and watch my daughter's future ruining?" Everybody gasped after hearing that. Rune too retreated and sat back in his seat.

"What do you mean father?" The trio Rune, Ceci, and Camy spoke in unison. There was complete silence in the room. You could easily hear the heavy breathing of everyone. Everyone was so lost in their thoughts they did not see a faint smile on Mr. Taylor's mouth except his son Rune Taylor.

Rune became intrigued after seeing his father's smile. Of all the people in the world only he was the only one capable enough to understand his father and that too because he had followed his father like a shadow from the beginning of his childhood. He knew that his father would do nothing to hurt his daughters but the smile he just gave was the smile he used to display when he used to play a masterstroke in his strategy.

So? what is it? Why did his father smile so slyly?

He was in deep thoughts. He had his doubts, but they were all absurd. It shook him to the core when he thought about his doubt and a cold sweat broke on his nape and his expression changed abruptly but before anyone could notice it, he became calm and composed. For the time being, he needs to wait patiently for his father's word. Internally he prayed that the absurd doubt may remain absurd forever and may never become true.

"Regarding the matter about the betrothal. I discussed it with lord Arthur, and he gave a very nice suggestion for the problem."

"What?" both the girls shrieked in anxiety.

Mr. Taylor chucked, "well he told me to arrange a meeting for both of you with Knight Vladis and let both of you decide who wants to marry him, and even if both of you don't want to marry him, there is no problem. Although the royal proposal was of betrothal but Reinstle empire always gave importance to consensual marriage so there is no compulsion to follow it."

Camy and Ceci were both feeling grateful for this act of kindness shown by Lord Arthur. They both knew that although the Reinstle empire favors consensual marriage but still denying a royal proposal was a sin. They were indebted to Lord for not holding a grudge against their family. Thus, they happily agreed for a meeting with Knight Vladis.

On the other hand, Rune was tense. He very well knew about the Lord's character. He himself was not a saint, but that man was on a whole different level. He knew that the lord will not give mercy to anyone unless he has something in his mind.

Camy and Ceci went to their respective rooms for sleep but with so much in their mind, it would be an interminable night.

Mrs. Taylor too went to her room happily.

Only Mr. Taylor and Rune remained.

"Why?" Rune asked.

"I don't know? son"

"You know how he is. He won't let this go so easily, father."

"I know, son"

"He promised me in front of the council that he will not interfere in this marriage proposal"

"It doesn't concern him too, "Mr. Taylor said.

"It doesn't concern him, but it concerns his best friend Vladis. I have a doubt regarding this matter", Rune replied.

"He will do nothing in this matter. "

"Vladis' marriage is of no concern to him."

"What harm can our sweeties do to them, not to forget he can easily kill them or get a new wife if he wants. So, I don't believe he will do anything to our sweeties." Mr. Taylor said grimly.

Rune wasn't convinced, but he kept his mouth shut.

It was now clear to him that there was something behind the dark and if he wanted to protect his sweeties, then he needed to find out.

He needs to be wary of everyone including his father.

Everyone in the power was tainted including himself but he wanted to save his sweeties at any cost.

Three days passed in a blink of an eye and the day to meet the mighty Knight came finally.
