1 Dreams and Prophecies- Pilot

It all started with a dream. And, as you know, a witch is prone to a prophetic dream now and then. Normally they consist of what I'll eat for dinner the next day. Boring right? But this dream was different. I was in a castle deep in a forest. My skin smelled of roses and honey. I laid in a luxurious, soft bed fit for kings. A deep, husky voice rang out as the door opened. I felt nervous and excited all at once. A stunning man opened the door. He was broad shouldered and tall. His hair a dark mahogany. His eyes as green as the forest looming in the windows. He took my breath away. But my body seemed to already know him, and she was angry.

Clearly I was mad at him but I didn't know why. He came closer to the bed the look of a predator in his eyes. His chest bare for me to gaze at at my leisure. His pants hung low revealing the V at his hips. My cheeks flamed with heat as I realized I was staring.

Quickly I glanced back up at his eyes, only to find him frowning. "Do you love me?"

I felt a shock rush through my body at the sound of his voice so close to me. I could feel goosebumps on my arms. I wanted so badly to beg him to take me here and now. However, I seemed to have other plans. "I told you, this was all a mistake! I need to get back home." I said firmly. "You can't lock me up here forever."

This seemed anger him but, not surprise him. He had, apparently, heard this line before. "And what about me?"

The pain in his voice seemed to make me hesitate, "that's..."

"There are things you do not know yet, for now, you need only love me."

And then everything turned black and I woke up.

...

"You sure this is the place?" I asked looking at my friend Joy in mild disbelief. She was one of the only people I knew I could trust and yet she led me here to this...shack?

"I have it on good authority that a hag lives here." She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms defensively. She had her curly black hair pulled back in a ponytail. Her dark skin glistened in the sunlight. New gold tattoos danced on her skin. She was practically a goddess. "Besides, you're the one whose obsessed with this dream man of yours."

I playfully shoved her, "I am not obsessed!"

"Uh huh, then why was that all you could talk about on the way here?"

I felt my face grow hot with embarrassment. After all, I did regale her with every detail as she drove us here from our apartment in Seattle. "I'm just curious. I've never had a dream like that."

"Well, a hag should be able to tell us what it was about." Joy walked up to the door. She lifted the knocker and let it fall. It felt as if it echoed through the entire forest. After several moments a haggard woman opened the door. Without saying anything she gestured us inside.

Joy looked back at me and shrugged her shoulders. I followed behind her as we walked into the dark hut. However, the inside looked like a pristine mansion. I rolled my eyes, it was typical of a hag to hide her true nature.

The old woman led us down the corridor to the very last door. Inside was a small round table with a seeing glass in the middle. She hobbled over to a cushioned chair at the head of the table.

Once she sat she began to turn, and morph into a beautiful young woman. Runes flared to life on the table creating a spell circle.

"What do you want to know?" Her voice was light and melodious.

"I need an interpretation of a dream." I quickly sat down on the opposite side of her. My mother always said a good hag was worth more than gold. They could not only make your wildest dreams come true but, also your darkest nightmares. Some witches feared and loathed hags others saw them only as old, decrepit women. Right now the woman in front of me was anything but decrepit.

She placed hands on either side of the seeing glass, looking intently within. Joy and I waited patiently as she drew on the magic of the runes and spell circle.

After several minutes she slowly took her hands off the glass and looked up at me. Pity filled her eyes as she sighed. "I'm sorry child," her voice seemed to take on a mournful tone. "This dream...is complicated."

Joy crossed her arms, "what's so complicated about it?"

"You have both graduated the University of Magic and Alchemy, correct? Then you should that there are other worlds beyond our own. Dimensions if you will."

I suddenly felt apprehensive, "yes, spells for dimensional travel were banned after a wizard was killed on another world."

The hag only nodded her head, "your dream was of one of those worlds. A world very different from ours. I'm sorry to tell you this but, it seems fate has dealt you a cruel hand. And has placed your soulmate in another world.
