1 End of The Beginning

"So you're telling me I'm now dead?"

I questioned the supposed deity in front of me, well... sort of.

I'd imagined that they seemed to have that otherworldly aura exuding out of them. Instead, the deity was a woman with fair white skin that had no blemishes whatsoever.

She wore a business suit coupled with glasses and her long brown hair tied into a knot that gave out a professional vibe.

"That is indeed how most mortals come here, Mr. Hart"

I must have had a dumbfounded look on my face as I was busy with my own thoughts on the situation.

"I'm sorry umm, Ms?"

"Holly is my name, Mr. Hart."

When I wanted to ask her more questions, my head began to hurt as I started to remember things, most importantly, how I died.

"It does take a bit for the dead to remember the reason for their death. What you're experiencing now is completely normal."

As I sorted through my head, I began to calm down and thought through what I wanted to ask her.

"Do I have a time limit meeting with you Ms. Holly?"

She shakes her head at my question and begins to explain things to me.

"We designated deities are allowed to take our time with special types of the dead. Most people would have to wait in line until they're designated with their standing in the afterlife."

"I'm considered special?"

"Indeed, do you want me to summarize our records regarding your life?"

I nodded my head as I was curious if the indeed had everything on me. She coughs for a bit before opening a file with my name on it and begins to read the said file out loud.

"Reynolds Hart was born on the 24th of February, 2019. An orphan from a young age, he grew up never knowing his parents. Though, that familial love was filled by the orphanage he grew up with."

"You grew up knowing that there were others that were less fortunate, and was just grateful for being in a loving place."

"You made sure that you got into good institutions and after having a successful startup decided to focus on investing till your early 30's and decided to shift focus on giving back to what made you."

"Social and humanitarian efforts yearly by the Hart Foundation with some earning you prizes for your efforts."

She paused as she looked at me after finishing a pretty quick summary of my life.

"Nothing wrong so far, Mr. Hart?"

I nodded and decided to quickly end my life recap by describing my demise.

"It was during a certain charity fund that I went to, due to an earthquake the building collapsed and trapped most of the attendees, myself included."

"It was a miracle that most survived, whilst I myself struggled to keep the rubble on top of me from crushing a young girl that was the daughter of one of the attendees."

"As soon as she was somewhat out of the way, I began to lose the strength I somehow had and was crushed to my death."

She had a blank look as she stared at me, before readjusting her glasses.

"I'm surprised you were able to get to the details, most recent deceased have a hard time accepting their deaths."

I shrugged as I reasoned that what else could I do except accept it and move on.

"Besides, doesn't everyone here have a plan laid out for them?"

"I believe the records stated you weren't a Christian, no?"

I chuckled at her questioning and just stayed that I just like to believe the words of wisdom of some religions, even if I don't follow their faith.

"You certainly are an interesting individual, I'm certain now that whatever you choose will be an interesting journey."

That reminded me of the thing regarding what made me special.

She explained that my actions of selflessness and good-natured heart allowed me the chance to go the lower-ranked dimensions, which would be considered fictional worlds from various media.

Most would just spend their time in the afterlife, which I was told to be very monotonous.

Some reincarnate due to their past karma and are given better or worse situations to reincarnate into.

All of anime, manga, shows, cartoons and etc were real people and events. The creators of the media just tune in the world and those viewings then go into the subconscious where they turn to thoughts they 'came up' with.

I began to ponder what I wanted to choose and where to go.

Ms. Holly herself then caught my attention with a cough, as she wanted to suggest something's to me.

"Maybe a world with a similar situation as the prime dimension? Something you're familiar with."

"Might I also suggest that you'll be born to a family when you choose to go one, and seeing your early life, it seems your youth was not one filled with many highs as you focused on your goals in the long run."

"But most importantly, what life do you want it to be, Mr. Hart?"

Her words made me seriously think about my life so far, the ups and downs, the hardships and triumphs. My lack of social life in my early years made me yearn to be more outgoing with a go get em attitude.

But I also wanted to help people, whilst experiencing new things.

I voiced my thoughts to her and she smirked as if she found the perfect choice.

"I believe I may have found where you might want to go, Mr. Hart."

She spoke of her suggestion and I was immediately hooked.

I signed some papers that were apparently needed for documentation, even in the afterlife.

"Don't forget that you may also contact me, as I'm your designated helper on with helping you settling in your new world."

Light began to cover me as I began to fly away from her. She waved goodbye and wished me luck.

I myself was excited, her suggestion was a manga series that finished back in my early college years, which I picked up and fell in love with.

I guess it impacted me in a way, why I wanted to help others and went out of my way to do it.

It's time I arrive at my new life.

Time to be a hero.
