1 Prologue

"Mom?" Jewl cried out as the men dragged her away. They where dressed in black and followed wait seemed to be silent commands from a man that stop to the side.

"I'll kill you!!" My mother screamed as she struggled and fought with the men the held her.

"Will you now, you might as well stop. If you don't your poor daughter will see you die and then so will she." The man sneered stepping closer and glaring down at her.

"Stop, please stop it. Don't hurt her." Jewl screamed rushing forward. Her long dark brown hair flowed out behind her as strong, hard iron hand grabbed her from behind.

"I am sorry Jewl, but your mother has done something wrong, and now she must pay." the man says flashing out his hand. Bright red blood flew into the air. A small gasping, gurgling sound accompanied the blood and then silence.

"NO!!!" Jewl screamed ripping her arm away from the man and collapsing on the floor. "no" Jewl whispered to herself, trembling with sadness as hot tears poured down her face.

"leave her she won't last the night." The man says walking away. The men drop the body and follow the man leaving Jewl to sit in the grass and sob. Tall soaring trees surrounded them in a small clearing. and the full moon floated above the starlit sky.

"Do not be sad child" a strangers voice echoes from behind Jewl, "you will be safe tonight." Jewl turns her head to see a large golden furred wolf standing behind her.

"Did you just speak?" Jewl asks, tears still falling from her face.

"Yes little one, I am able to communicate with you threw our minds. This is because you are like me in many ways, and different in others." the voice echoes again and the strange wolf steps forward and licks the tears, " I am Sandra." the wolf says.

"Sandra can you save my mother, the bad men hurt her." Jewl pleads grabbing the she-wolf.

"I am sorry my child, but I am afraid that your mother cannot be saved" Sandra whispered sitting down and wrapping her front paws around Jewl.

"Its not fair" Jewl sobbed curling into a ball.

"I know it isn't but it will be OK, come on I will take you to my home." Sandra says standing and slowly lifting Jewl.
