1 Chapter 1: Mr. Bui

Sometimes, things don't go as planned.

In a beautiful villa located in the mountains, at the time where the moonlight shined through the windows, a man in a black suit sat in a polished wooden chair, staring down at a boy. The boy shook like a crazy kid hyped up on candy, his eyes tearing up, and nose running with translucent snot.

He begged, sobbing, "Please let me go. I did what you asked!"

The man sneered, "You did, but not everything," he lit his cigarette and took a puff. "Where is the money? Where's the gold from your mother's vault? Why are you this useless? If you wanted to keep your family safe, then you must not miss anything."

The little boy sobbed, pleading, "Please don't hurt my family!"

The man laughed. His hand gestured to signal the underlings watching in the shadows. Three emerged from the dark corners with fists clenched and bats ready. The boy gulped at the sight of them, fearing his death would be today.

The man leaned forward a little. His voice rough and sinister, he said, "Then let's make a deal, your family can keep their life if you torture them. Afterwards, you can exchange your life for your family, in the very spot where you are kneeling."

Behind him, he heard bodies pulled on the floor, little gasps, too. He whipped his head around, his body froze at the sight of his mother and little sister, tied with their arms behind their backs. They cried with him, in silence.

The man leaned back, a glint of anticipation glowed in his eyes. "Now go on, don't be afraid. As long as you are engaged, time will go fast before you know it."

The boy was roughly pulled up by the burly underlings, shoving a bat into his hands, then pushing him towards his family. His hands shook as he reluctantly stepped forward. As he got closer to them, in his mind, he screamed at himself to stop, but he also told himself to do it so that they could live and everything would end.

Tears began to form at the rim, his heart-shattering at the sight of his dishevelled mother and his little sister, looking at him with fear. He raised his bat, but he didn't swing. His mother and sister looked away, crying even harder, fearing for their life.

"What are you waiting for? Do it!"

The boy raised the bat. Just before he swung, he closed his eyes and begged in his heart, even though gods aren't real, he hoped he'll receive a way of escape. "Please god! Please help me!"

The sound of thunder erupted, the flash of lightning briefly lit the room, making everybody still. The moon was once out but now hidden by the dark clouds. Something wasn't right in the room. The man felt it. The boy felt it.

A hand grabbed the bat, making the little boy jump in fright.

A young man in a black suit appeared. He took the bat away from the boy's hand, destroying it to pieces by throwing it against the wall. The boy noticed thin sparks appearing then disappearing around the young man's fingers. The boy felt relief. He knew the gods have heard.

The smoking man immediately stood up. His eyes wide and his skin turning white. He didn't expect someone like him would know where he's hiding. His face turned awfully ugly.

The young man smirked, glancing at the trees outside. "So this is where you've been hiding, Mr. Bui. I didn't expect you to be a nature guy."

Mr. Bui sneered, "I'm not. Though It's actually nice to walk around once in a while."

The young man produced a sword out of thin air. The sword glowed bright, lighting the dark. Sparks of lightning whisked around the blade, displaying its magnificent glory.

"Then, you must be ready to never see it again. I hope."

The burly underlings fell to the ground, creating a loud thud. Their throats slit open gushing with blood along with sparks flickering around their throats. Mr. Bui threw his cigarette to the ground then crushed it with his foot. Ears popped up on his head and three tails behind him. He's a weak demon fox.

Mr. Bui smiled wide, flauntingly showing his long claws and sharp teeth. "Let's get started, shall we?"

The young man pushed the boy to his family, then dashed towards the demon fox. The battle was short-lived, naturally, the demon fox was too weak against the mighty god. As the boy watched, he was amazed at the sight.

In the end, the young man had Mr. Bui on the ground. His sword pointed at the demon fox's bleeding head, and his foot planted on his throat.

"Mr. Bui, you are foolish to think you can't be found. You'll be judged for your crimes."

Mr. Bui was bloody. He spat his dark blood at the young man. He laughed like a lunatic and said nothing more. The young man loudly whistled.

Around them, heaven's guards appeared with light. Their silver armour glistened and spears pointing high. The young man gestured towards Mr. Bui. He made his way towards the boy, letting Mr. Bui be grabbed by heaven's guards.

The young man made his sword vanish, then kneeled and smiled at the boy. "You know, if you haven't called for help, then I would've been late."

The boy nodded, wiping away his leftover tears. "Thank you, uncle!"

"Uncle?! I'm not old...whatever," he grumbled. "Alright, promise me you won't ever get involved with anyone like them again?"

The boy was extremely grateful. He promised, "I won't forget!"

The young man freed the boy's mother and sister from the ropes. Without wasting another second, he drew a golden line with his finger from the boy's eyes to his mother, then his sister's.

"Forget what you have seen from this day till death."

Outside of the villa, the moon revealed itself again. The young man watched the small family scan their surroundings with confusion. His heart warmed when they hugged each other tightly. They cried in fear and relief. The little boy felt conflicted. He recalled a promise, but who told him?

The young man turned around towards a squad of heaven's guards holding the shackled demon fox. He ordered, "Let's go."

He and the guards went into the portal to return to heaven. His dark brown short hair transformed back to his long hair tightened in a ponytail. His black suit clung to his athletic body, instantly transformed into red and black robes, surprisingly it suits his golden tanned skin.

Back to heaven, he joyfully goes.
