The Fields[Edited]

The light of the morning sun spread through the horizon as its rays illuminated the training fields adjoining the Dracina manor. The fields themselves were mostly occupied by men and women dressed in light tunics training their swords and magic.

On the sidewalks, a solitary figure walked past and all those who passed by gave him a nod of respect.

The figure was Heylel, who was soon joined by Calic, to whom he spoke, "What's today's routine?"

"Practicing swords and mana—" Heylel stopped him with a wave of his hand, "Exclude the physical training will you?"

"It is my duty as your butler to see to it that you don't slack off on your physical tra..." And the man began a sermon, "...And since the master has yet to complete his physical—" Heylel sighed as he realised the man was never going to give up, "Fine. I will go and join the knights."

Seeing this a few of the passerby showed slight grins on their faces which earned them a glare from their master.

"But still, what's the rest of the day looking like?" Heylel asked him still wondering how much he had on his plate and his butler complied, "Bussiness at our merchant guild, then that appointment with the king in the afternoon..." One by one the butler narrated his schedule, "All in all Master, we have a very busy day."

Nodding at his butler he spoke once again, "Tell Amy to go the Capital and buy a good residence and get it refurnished, it could come in handy, as for the budget, per her discretion."

"Yes, master."

Still trying to skimp on his training he spoke, "So I'm going to the gui—" only to be cut off by Serb, "Master. Training."

With a sigh, Heylel gave up.

——

"Master only two more rounds~" A melodious voice rang out in the training ground the same one that Heylel had crossed half an hour ago and right now he was doing laps around it.

"Fu*k, I will make the capital residence's yard smaller," He mumbled keeping his voice down knowing what would happen if Amy, who was currently keeping count heard what he said.

Devoted as she was, she was a bitch when it came to physical fitness. Something, something too much reliance on mana something.

All others who saw this scene could only smile if it were any other house...

"Master, that Cockoo will be back in half an hour." A servant spoke as he entered the grounds with a juice tray in his hand.

"Amy, time for you to head out, go pack up."

Hearing his words Amy turned sullen but Heylel moved to make it better, "You can spend as much as you like on it..." She nodded weakly. Well, that didn't work. Seeing that he tried again, "...and the design is in your hand."

"Really!?" She exclaimed with excitement practically dripping from her lips seeing this, Heylel smiled and remembered what Calic had said, 'You should tell her about the residence yourself. Use it when she is upset.'

Thank you, old man.

And so she left the field leaving Heylel without his cheerleader, not that he minded as he started running again after drinking what was offered.

He had done eight rounds. He had to do two more. And at the end, having run ten rounds, Heylel laid on the ground sprawled on the ground huffing and puffing, tired to no end.

"Damn you old man at least let me use mana!" He cursed at his butler who appeared in front of him with a towel.

Calic ignored him and spoke, "Master, sword and magic practice are still left..." but stopped, seeing Heylel was glaring at him "Right, evening exercises."

"Where did that cuckoo so early anyway?" Looking up at the man Heylel formed water midair while he asked.

"Royal Palace," The butler responded as Heylel left his control over water, letting it fall freely and crash into his face with icy cold freshness.

"Prepare the carriage."

"Yes, master."

"The cuckoo should've been back by now... did Amy leave?"

"She did, the cuckoo should be back in the fifteen minutes." From the side came the voice of a man dressed in a full black leather uniform with gold linings around the edges.

"Morning Captain." Greeted Heylel standing up.

"Good morning to you sir." He greeted as he came closer to the boy, he was in his thirties and had simple brown hair which was quite common in the world.

"How's the new uniform?" The boy asked for a review from his best combatant. I say but if one were to point out anything it would be the lack of metal, it's quite concerning."

"It's just psychological, these are magic-enhanced, and they can take quite a lot of abuse, I tested them myself."

"That is a relief, my lord." He said slightly bowing and he maintained his position, seeing this Heylel knew the man needed something, so he said, "If you need anything just say it." He spoke this because he knew that the man in front of him was a bit shy and had a habit of beating around the bush.

"My lord I suggest that we expand your retinue, there is news of trouble at the Eastern border." Reporting what he had heard, the captain spoke.

"When is there not?" He dismissed it offhandedly.

Not willing to give up, he further tried to reason with the lord, "Master, I was out drinking with knights of Duke Van Dike, they said that the Duke asked them to be prepared to be transferred to the east anytime. So, if we were to receive a call to arms then..."

"When I succeeded this house I asked for a four-year exclusion from the call to arms, the king granted it, we still have six months left."

"You did...?" This time it was Serb, surprised that he had not known about this.

"Yes," Responding to the old man Heyel spoke, then turning his attention to the captain he added, "But, I will allow you to train up an additional two hundred men, they will be an additional to our guardfor for Merchant Guild and other assets. Calic will assign you the funding."

Declaring the issue complete Heyel quickky marched off with Calic in tow.

Arriving in his room, he spoke, "So the news has finally reached the knights, anyway it matters not."
