2 A Vampire's Nightmare

Umar wasn't very up to date per se on the world's current condition, and his stomach clearly didn't care about his unsatisfactory situation. He narrowed his eyes glancing at the crowd that's long run away and sighed bitterly. Is this where he shall die? After so long of tracking this Earth it's finally rejecting him, and its inhabitants. Or was it the humans? They have always been dumb and to his knowledge in every Hollywood movie the humans are the ones to f*ck everything up for themselves.

He was a bit of a clean freak and didn't like things that were uneven. How would he adapt to such a new world? Umar has lived through several disasters with no problem a year or two afterward but this by far is the worst disaster for a vampire. The werewolves could survive easily in such an apocalypse with their super strength and farms of animals they naturally hunt. The witches are just the same probably already left to a different realm, cheap selfish poodles.

Umar cursed the witches and the species who could survive easily, but what about the vampires? Or should he just say one vampire, because well...he is the only one! There have never been multiple vampires in existence it has always been Umar and always will be Umar! And where did the idea of vampires being super strong come from? He is basically just a regular human, with super healing, super senses, and drinks blood as a food supply, plus immortality. Although there are times when he can go on a rage and naturally gain superhuman strength, but that needs a lot of blood to happen and with his current predicament. That won't be happening anytime soon.

He had been swept up in his thoughts that he hadn't realized the sky had naturally dimmed to the point of pitch black. It was now night time, a vampire's favorite time to snack. But now it was one of the most dreadful nights Umar feels he will experience. Among the absolute silence, the subtle rustle of a zombie's steps or the growl that escaped its jowls like how it naturally breathed racked the darkness. Umar could see in the dark so it was just as clear as day but colors couldn't be seen, it was like an old black and white film.

Umar held his breath as he bypassed a zombie feeling the urge to gag. He finally picked himself up and was determined to check out his old mansion that resembled a fallen old abandoned home. The scream earlier would have been worth investigating but with the mob of zombies chasing before he could process the noise, it was quickly put away from his thoughts. That human is probably dead it's not worth the effort.

The ground and walkways were uneven it was challenging to walk straight in the dress shoes he wore, the soles of his feet were mildly uncomfortable. Umar was determined to distract himself from the growing hunger with the worry of his precious home. The plants that were usually well kept in the front of the typically beautiful mansion had withered and the grass was a yellow/orange color from what he could tell with the help of the reflected moonlight giving his home a horrifying feeling. He had read the story Dracula once before, (some witch spread his existence quickly he became folklore), and the description of the mansion was much like his current home, run-down. It had aged a few decades with dust and debris collecting on every surface. A bomb looked to have blown away half the roof and the inside looked just as worse as the condition of the outside. The layer of cake was sickening on both ends.

The grand staircase had collapsed and as Umar walked his hands were desperately clutched to his side not daring to touch anything dirty. His footsteps were as light as a feather as to not ruin the soles of his shoes any further. The clothes he wore now could be the last he wears to the tomb, but this time for good!

After a few minutes of looking around his home, he had determined it was a lost cause and left with a permanent frown.

Suddenly an odd sound not so far away came from a building caught his ear. It was some shuffling then some clicks of an object. It was different from the zombies and Umar could almost instantly recognize these as living things!

It didn't take much thought for the hungry vampire since he speed-walked to the sound, thankful only some wandering zombies could be seen passing glumly nearby. Umar was driven too far in hunger he didn't think of common sense and before long a gun was placed on his forehead.

A man two inches taller than him and was wearing something you'd see in the army glared bullets at him.

Umar's eyes narrowed and took a step back raising his hands up in defense, he was too rash. No human could be normal in this words condition. Behind the man stood two other men pointing their guns at him.

Umar had only taken a left into an ally behind the building he had heard the noise from, he hadn't expected things to happen so fast. A man with an unlit cigarette in his mouth looking rugged in the night spoke gruffly like he had smoked two packs of cigarettes a day.

"Whats a fancy guy like yourself doing out here? Taking a stroll to the ball?" He and the older guy next to him laughed like hyenas. Umar scrunched his nose, he could practically smell the disgusting breath emitting from the two men. He almost lost his appetite for human blood altogether.

"Shut up," the one with the gun to his head barked out and the two instantly quieted. "Do you want to become zombie food? With the way you guys are attracting them like a mating dance I assume so," he threaten them and the two men whispered how sorry they were. Umar looked at the young man and then the two behind him and thought the power dynamic was weird.

"Are you a part of the werewolf clan?" The question was sharply spat and he could feel the disgust for their name roll of his tongue. So the humans know of the supernatural now? It wouldn't be surprising if they figured it out a century ago with the way the dogs flaunted their power.

"Tsk do I look like a dog to you?" Umar said with agitation bringing his hand to the muzzle of the gun and clenching it. He was about to try and gently remove the gun away from him but four unwanted visitors made their presence clear. Umar was too focused on the humans he neglected to listen to the zombies!

they came up behind the two annoying men who instantly started to point their guns in that direction.

"Don't shoot idio-" the human in front of him tried stopping them but it was too late and the middle-aged guys started shooting desperately at the zombies. Umar brought his hands to his ears quickly to block the sound. His ears rang and it was hard to see what was going on with the shooting, flashes of gunshots, and the yelling. Someone had grabbed his arm and ran the opposite way as a wave of zombies came from nowhere! Humans always caused trouble!

They sprinted faster and faster and the noises started to dim. Umar could no longer hear gunshots but the screams of the two men who were being gnawed on by zombies.

Umar was out of breath and desperately hungry to the point of feeling fatigued, running wasn't his hobby in this circumstance. Wherever he was dragged along it was the inside of some big store by the smell of rotten foods and empty shelves. He was just catching his breath when the familiar muzzle of the gun was placed on his head.

"You've helped me greatly but I don't think I need you anymore," by those words Umar assumed he was going to pull the trigger but to his surprise, he put the gun away and walked deeper into the store ignoring Umar completely. "I don't pick up strays so hurry up and run away."

Umar took a deep breath and knew he wasn't leaving anytime soon with his natural food in reach of him. "How was I of help to you?" Still, the guy's narrative was wack and confusing.

"I only teamed up with those guys to use them as bait, who knew you'd pop up out of nowhere and had my plan going much more smoothly. This store was guarded by zombies but with their loud mouths I finally got this store to myself." As he was saying that the guy was stacking cans of food into his backpack and duffle bag happily, he even heard a slight hum.

"You aren't planning on taking my lute are you?" Suddenly the guy's smily demeanor vanished and through the little light of the store, green pupils pierced Umars natural golden ones with killing intent.

"I don't want your disgusting human food," Umar sneered and walked towards the man kneeling on the ground to stack food, instantly the guy tensed ready for a fight. He swiftly squatted down next to the guy already seeing the black glare of the gun pointed at him for the third time.

"If I helped you don't I deserve an award?
