3 Sin Sinclair (2)

Sin was drowning, he felt incredibly cold and couldn't breathe. He started to panic and then suddenly, when he just thought he was going to die, a green light appeared in front of him. He reached out to touch it.

When Sin's fingers hit the light it flared up, dancing in the palm of his hand. Immediately his hand started to become warmer. After his hand was completely warmed up, it started to spread to the rest of his body. When it reached Sin's chest, breathing became possible and he could finally relax a little, understanding that he wouldn't die right now.

Throb. Throb. Throb.

After the refreshing warmth heated up his entire body, the green light started to throb faster and faster. The color and brightness intensified, only to weaken again after some time. To him, it felt similar to a strong heartbeat.

Without warning, when the throbbing seemed to reach a climax and Sin started to fear the light might break from overpowering, it started to move.

It was as if it was pulled by a string. The light steadily aimed at his head. Pulling closer and closer to his eyes. No, not his eyes, but to his eye! It was the eye that got stabbed by the crazy merchant.

Sin was extremely calm right now. He knew there was no point in fearing whatever happened right now because there was simply nothing he could do to change the situation.

Deep inside his mind, he knew that this light was his friend and not his enemy. Sin couldn't explain why he had this feeling. It appeared to him just like a law of nature. So whatever the mysterious light did, it wouldn't harm him at least. Didn't it already save Sin from the bitter cold and the drowning? He decided to wholeheartedly trust it and like that he awaited what happened.

The light finally reached his eye and got sucked into it. This feeling was completely different from the warmth he felt before. This was not warmth anymore, it was heat! It felt like lava burning his insides. Starting from his eye his body felt like being ripped apart. The pain intensified and after a last stab of pain he woke up.

Unfortunately for Sin the moment he awoke the memory of what happened during his sleep already started to disappear. Sin was in a bed, it was a familiar one. He knew where he was. He was inside his room at home lying in his very own bed.

He only noticed that his sight was extremely limited, normally he could not only see the window but his writing table as well. Panic coursed through him.

He started to hyperventilate, lifting his arm to touch the place where once his eye was. Then happiness and not panic spread through his whole body. His eye was still there, it only lost the ability to see. Sin had feared more than anything else that he might end up completely disfigured. But gladly his hand only found normal skin and not even the mark of a scar.

His breath calmed down and his hands, which started shivering before without his notice, were steady again. The door opened, alarmed by the noise he made, people came to look after him. A woman with disheveled black hair and tear marks under her eyes came running to his bed.

"Sin I thought I lost you."

Sylvanna didn't say more and simply hugged her son. Sin was the most important thing in the world to her, without him, her life would be worthless.

Clank, Clank, Clank.

Sin heard loud steps coming from behind his mother. Normally he would have been able to see, who was coming into his room but not now with his right eye destroyed.

He tried to push his mother away to take a look and said, "Mom I am fine, pls stop this."

"Sin you were passed out a for a whole day and night. How can't I worry about you after what happened."

Hiccup! Hiccup! Hiccup!

After a short time filled with several hiccups his mom sat unwillingly up but before he could see, who was in his room, he heard the cold voice of a woman.

"Hahaha, boy you think you are fine? Without my help, you would be dead right now."

"Misstress, Misstress!!!", the alarming cry sounded through the insides of the moss-clad cave, disturbing the peaceful dripping noise of the water from the stalactites.

A small in simple leather armor clothed green goblin ran into the cave. He tried to run as fast as he could without stumbling with his short legs.

"He survived it, our assassination failed!", the shocked voice of the goblin rang through the cave.

The woman, the goblin called out to, sat on a stone throne. She wore a black cloak hiding her features.

In strong contrast to her look, her voice was warm and gentle, "Calm down Honki. I never expected this plan to work. I only tried to get deeper insights concerning his defense. I never expected to kill him with a mind-controlled pawn."

The goblin was confused. The Misstress really seemed to be quite relaxed about this matter.

"But, ..., but Misstress, you know that woman's power. If she knows we try to kill her son, we won't get another chance. She is the stroooongest woman I have ever met, in my whole,... Ouuucchhh!!!"

A big violet bump appeared on Honki's normally green head.

"Honki," she said his name in a fear-inducing voice, "I will prove to you and to everyone else that I am stronger than that traitor bitch. The others only want to kill her son and take her back after that but not I. I will show everyone we don't need someone, who abandoned our Oder only to play house with some random guy.

I will kill her, her son and even her man if he ever happens to pass by me! Nobody will ever again question the power of me the heir to the dark throne, of me Amber Dantalion!" She removed her hood. A noble expression was present on her face, in contrast, her words were spoken in absolute rage.

"Honki send Alastor. Tell him to kidnap the child and make clear to him that if he kills him, I will personally behead him!", she said in a gruesome tone.

"But Misstress, you don't need that boy, why don't you just assassinate that woman? She is weaker than you if you depend on a surprise attack!"

Amber raised a hand and stopped the goblin. "I know Honki," she said with a happy smile on her face, "but as you should know, we can't say yet what that man left behind to defend his family. You should be as well aware as me of the nature of his magic. His power is greater than even Master's!" She shook her head. "There is simply no way around it."

Honki bowed to her, turned around and left to find Alastor and tell him his mission. While he walked away the crazy laugh of a woman followed him to the outside of the cave creating goosebumps all over his body.

Out of reach for his Misstress to hear him he mumbled quietly, "I am sorry Misstress. I never wanted to betray you." With a hanging head, he left. He went to Alastor, a fifty-year-old man with a long silver beard and short silver hair.

But instead of what his mission was, Honki told Alastor something else. "Alastor, the Misstress sends you to kidnap a girl...! Don't harm her in any way or you will personally meet the Misstress's fury! Her name is Katy she is the daughter of the nearby village's mayor."

Sin finally saw who came in. It was a middle-aged woman probably a little older than his mom. She wore a green travel cloak.

Coming into the room she took her hood off and he saw that she had red hair, which she wore in an elegant style.

She faced him with a grim facial expression.

"Be happy that you are still alive, on the whole continent you will have a problem finding five people, who could have healed that injury of yours."

Sin gulped, he didn't know how to respond to this remark of hers but at least he knew now why he had no scar. The problem was that his brain was still clouded as if he just woke up from a really long sleep. Being stabbed inside his head proved to be not a good idea at all.

"Ehhh, thank you, I guess." This was the only response Sin managed to utter and the woman didn't seem to be happy with it.

"I guess? Don't you know how priceless that healing was? Even a prince wouldn't... . Boy, I will let you get through with it for now, come and see me tomorrow when your brain functions normally again." She turned around and left, her cloak fluttering behind her.

Sylvanna stood up and bowed to the unknown woman, "Thanks a lot Madame Bounty! I apologize for my son, he must still be dazed from all that happened. We will always be in your debt Madame." She said those words with a strong and firm voice. Meanwhile, Sin thought, "Bounty!?! I only know of one person called Bounty and she is a famous Bounty Huntress being the best of her field. Are they maybe one and the same person?" A puzzled expression appeared on Sin's face.

The woman called Bounty turned around, a strange smile crept over her face. "Don't worry I will collect this debt the way I told you before.",

After these last words, Bounty left and Sin and his mother were alone again.

The next day, Sin woke up early in the morning. It was still hard for him to live with a reduced field of view. Many things that were easy before were now much harder to do. For example, his ability to catch things, thrown at him, decreased.

Sin didn't want to stay long at home and so he said goodbye to his mother. He left the house as fast as possible because he simply couldn't stand the always concerned look of her. Before this incident, she was already overprotective but now it reached even greater heights. He noticed that his body seemed to be fine again. He didn't know what the woman called Bounty did to him but he felt nothing out of the ordinary.

Sin went to Katy's and his hiding place, an old Oak tree on the outskirts of the village. He wanted some silence to clear his head and hoped to meet his best friend Katy there. Sin was worried about her. He only had to imagine how he would feel if he saw someone stab Katy right in front of his eyes in her unprotected head.

Sin was right, as he arrived near the oak, he saw Katy rest behind it, her back leaning against the hard bark of the tree. Sin wanted to jump in front of her and scare her but stopped. He noticed Katy was sleeping and looking at her face, he knew that she was probably a lot more haggard than Sin himself or his mom were.

So he silently sat down next to Katy looking into the distance and thinking about what happened to him. He thought about his eyesight that was now gone but strangely enough, he didn't really miss it. Sin didn't have the feeling of having lost something it was as if something else took the place of his right eye and like that the scale was still in balance. It was just that he couldn't point out what it was that made him feel like that.

He closed his eyes and laid his head back against the bark of the tree. With his eyes closed, he thought about Katy. The fact that she didn't seem to have slept last night, creating a situation, where she would fall asleep at the roots of an oak tree. Warm feelings for her coursed through him and suddenly without a warning, he was able to see something even though his eyes were closed.

SIn was perplexed. What he saw was hard to describe. It somehow resembled the light rays you see, when you look directly into blinding light. Still, there was a clear difference. In this case, it was only a single light ray, the best name for it might be lightthread.

Sin noticed that like the normal light this lightthread had to have an origin. He turned his head to the origin of the thread and opened his eyes. What he saw was Katy. As if she noticed his gaze, Katy started to move and slowly sat up. She blinked several times and finally realized, who sat at her side.

A happy smile spread over her face and Sin could see how a big load got taken from her shoulders. This face, this smile made him totally forget about the mysterious lightthread. Sin couldn't stop himself from happily smiling back. He suddenly had the feeling that with her around, he would always feel happy for the rest of his life.
