New Reality (2)

I can see from my peripheral vision that something is glowing like a warm light, although it doesn't make me uncomfortable. I feel pleasantly warm and cozy. I can't deny that the healer's treatment method is working.

I may not be able to see the whole process, but I feel it. My body is getting lighter, and the pain is slowly fading away.

I don't know how he did it, but I'm starting to believe that all of this is real, which makes me anxious. If this method he's using to heal me is effective, then this could shake up the whole medical field.

Based on what he said, he uses the 'mana' and lets it enter my system. I know nothing about mana since I've never heard of it before. I can feel the warmth going through every part of my body.

After that, he let go of my hand.

"That'll do, for now, Countess. I can't inject more healing mana into her since it could cause some problems. But on the brighter side, she'll get better in no time because her body can naturally receive pure mana from nature. I've never seen someone so adept in unconsciously receiving and circulating pure mana."

He stood up and said, "You won't need me anymore starting next week. She'll naturally heal over time if I focus on healing her lower extremities since those body parts are more heavily injured than the rest. If she can walk by next week, take her outside for fresh air since it'll help her recover quickly."

"Thank you for your services, Averon. I know you're in the middle of your research in the academy, and yet you still took your time coming here."

"It's no big deal, Countess. I'm honored to be this noble lady's healer while House Vanidestine's healer is away with the Count. Besides that, there's something I wanted to talk to you about. May we continue this conversation outside?"

There was a moment of silence before she talked again. "I'll let the maids prepare us some tea. Let us move to the guest room, shall we? Come here, Beau, let big sister rest. She'll come to play with you after she gets better, okay?"

"Okay," the child whimpered.

Before they left the room, I heard the healer say something.

"You can slowly talk now, Milady. After you rest, please tell us more about what happened before you fell off the cliff so we can help you if someone was behind your accident. Please rest comfortably."

I think my breathing stopped when I heard the reason for the pain in my whole body. My hands went cold, and my throat was dry.

How did I fall off a cliff instead of getting hit by a car?

How did that happen? I was sure that a car had hit me two days ago! I even remembered that Vincent was trying not to let me close my eyes before the ambulance arrived! How did I go from getting into an accident to falling off a cliff?

I can feel that the lower part of my body is covered in bandages.

"Ugh, it f-feels stuffy."

I tried to sit, but my back was killing me! Even if the healer managed to lessen the pain I was experiencing, just moving around was difficult. With perseverance and desperation, I managed to sit down and touch my feet on the floor.

The healer was right; I'm experiencing more pain in my lower parts. He wasn't a quack after all—I give him that—but it's still not enough to answer my questions about where I am and why I was brought here. My questions kept piling up as they talked about random things like mana and dukedom, and the healer even called the woman 'Countess'!

If there's a countess, then the system of government in this place must be a monarchy, which gives me the conclusion that I am not in the Philippines anymore. Am I in Spain? Britain?

"Should I try w-walking?"

I looked around for something to help me walk, and to my surprise, I gladly found a cane near the bedside table. I reached it and slowly got up. I know I shouldn't force myself yet, but there's no way I could sit still, knowing I'm in a stranger's place.

I am thankful for how they treated me until now, but I can't ignore the fact that I could be somewhere that couldn't be located—or worse, no one could ever find me here. So until I'm assured that they mean no harm, I can never let my guard down.

I steadily walk around the room. There's nothing much I could find here, and I can't even take a peek outside! There are no windows here, like in a locked-room mystery, although the bed is comfortable, and the overall ambiance isn't as scary as I thought it would be.

I sat on the bed and opened the bedside table. There were a bunch of picture frames of happy families. This must be the woman who found me, and this baby must be the child born earlier. Some words were engraved on the back that said 'House of Vanidestine.'

The healer mentioned this earlier, so I'm currently residing in this place owned by a couple named Vanidestine.

"W-wait…"

I squinted my eyes to take a better look at the frame's reflection.

Why is my appearance different? I have royal blue, wispy, long hair, and ocean-blue eyes! I have a few bruises around my wrist, feet, and neck like they were chained, and my skin color is paler than I originally had!

I stood up. I don't even have the luxury of thinking about the pain I'm experiencing in my legs when I must confirm a more crucial thing. I immediately went outside to find a good mirror.

While forcefully walking myself with a cane, I encountered a lot of women who were dressed in maid outfits like they were cosplaying, and some men were wearing armor while swords were hung beside their waists.

"Milady! It would be best if you weren't walking around yet," One of the maids said worriedly.

I didn't mind what she said.

I looked around and asked, "Where's your mirror here? I need a big one."

I know I'm being absurd, but I can't help it. If what I'm thinking is accurate, all my concerns from the beginning will be answered, like how I ended up here and why I fell from a cliff instead.

"This way, Milady," The maid said hesitantly.

I feel sorry for the maid and will explain everything to the woman later. She guided me to a dressing room with a full-body mirror in front.

I hurriedly approached the mirror and heard the maid say, "Milady, please be careful! You're still not in a state where you can walk freely."

As I stared at myself in the mirror, I was shocked.

My hunches were correct—this was the woman in my dreams. I couldn't recognize her at first when I was looking at my reflection in the picture frame because, in my dream, she was barely recognizable. She was in such a state that I couldn't even remember if she had these beautiful ocean-blue eyes. If this body was found under a cliff, she escaped the prison cell, or jumping off a cliff was her execution.

How did this happen? Did my grandfather do this? Is this why I dreamt of that woman like it foreshadowed that we have some sort of connection? What happened to her?

I still have many questions, but one thing's for sure: this is real. The healer treated me with some power, and the house I currently reside in is all-natural.

But why do I possess this woman? I remembered that she said something before I woke up. Her voice was faint because of exhaustion, but I heard it since she was so close to me. What did she say again?

It was "revenge."

After remembering that word, I felt a sudden pain in my head. It's like my head is being split apart! I can't help but scream because of the excruciating pain! I kneeled and kept shaking my head.

"M-Milady! Someone help!" I heard the maid shout.

I don't know what to feel. If all of these are real, what happened to my old self? What happened to Chesah Dani Manalo? Does this mean that I won't be able to see Jessa, Kyr, and Andriea anymore? What happened to Vincent when I died?

Why was I given a chance to live in this world? I never wanted this. I saw a glimpse outside since this room had a balcony, and I knew this was no ordinary world.

My body got heavier, so I slumped on the cold floor. As I waited for help, I saw flashes of memories in my head. This must be this woman's memory. I saw a lovely woman smiling beautifully while holding a baby's hand, people cheering at a banquet, and a man kissing a hand, and all of them called her name...

"Adelaide."

My vision got blurry, and I felt someone carrying me.

"Her feet are bleeding, and she's in shock."

I can't hear them anymore. Right now, the only thing on my mind is how and why my soul transmigrated into this body.

This world is my new reality.
