10 Chapter 9: Marsens Task

After receiving the family heirloom, Marsen is tasked with having to take down a Balamont, a ferocious and fearsome beast, a Primate like structure as big as a Mammoth, its destruction power can wipe clean a small town if not guarded by at least 1 master monster slayer. There have been

a few reports of one spotted south of Archlion in the mountains of Wrath's Clutches.

Marsen preps himself for the journey ahead, it takes roughly a full suns pattern to reach the mountains, he will also have to probably hunt along the way in case he runs out of rations. He grabs his rucksack and makes his way along with Gungjyr.

"Thank you master, I promise I shall return with good news." Marsen states that to The Old man and makes his way south.

After 6 rounds of the sun, Marsen landed in a small town, not quite big but definitely busting with a lot of townsmen, the town's name is GrandStone, it resides just at the base of the Wrath's Clutches, a mountain home to strong monsters like the Balamont. Marsens first stop is at the gathering hall to collect the request and more info on this monster.

The reward for subjugating the beast is an out standing 5 gold coins, with that amount you could buy a home and live for a month of free cares. For now Marsen plans it's best to stay at an Inn before heading into the mountains unprepared, while it's night more than just beast come out, Spectres and other abnormal like things will be seen.

Finally at first light of the 7th sun round, Marsen stares at the mountain and breaths out slowly. Making his way up the path he begins to notice the grass get heavier and more dense. No one walks this path it mustn't be used a lot is what he's thinking, after scaling the mountain for little over 20 minutes he comes to a clearing of trees, mostly broken or ripped out of the ground.

He jumps up high in the tallest tree he could find and scouts then wreckage of the other trees, there was definitely a fight, if he's lucky it was between the Balamont and whatever thought that could stand a chance against it, meaning the Balamont could be weaken.

While on top of the tree he sees a shadowy figure move from on the curve of the mountain, with how big the shadow was he assumes it was definitely his hunt. He drops from the tree and makes his approach to the mountains curve where he saw the shadow, right then and there he sees massive foot prints, they resemble that of a monkey but the size are that of a Mammoth. This was it, no going back from this point.

Marsen freezes, a cold shiver slides down his neck to his tail bone, he hears a heavy huff from behind him, he makes no movements because he knows it's behind him, but how that's impossible? Was this a trap, how could a oversized monkey be able to trick me? Millions of negative thoughts run through his head.

He is shaking, the trauma from almost dying at outskirts of the Shylian forest is returning, his breath is short and he can't move his arms the way he wants, at that swift moment the Balamont wildly swings at Marsen hitting him clean on his right side sending him tumbling down the Rocky part of the mountain.

Marsens instincts kicked him from the training he went through he blocked the attack in time and managed to brace for most of the fall, but he didn't leave unwounded a severe laceration was received to the left of his head on the temple.

Trying to escape Marsen starts tumbling and sliding down the mountain side, he looks behind him and sees the monsterous silver coated beast running at full speed at him, this time he was able to prep for another attack, he grabs Gungnjr and waits for the swing from the beast, in anticipation of it Balamont swings and Marsen does a quick thrust at the bicep of the monster's arm in attempts to parry it....

Meanwhile the last 6 sun rounds, Dogbite has been in intensive training with the instructions from The Old Man's papyrus given to her. She finally finished and made her way to the Cabin for her next objective.

"Enter." The Old Man says whilst reading a new book.

"Master I've finished all the tasks you've given me." Dogbite says softly

"Then you're given a free day child, you can train your body till it breaks but if you don't let it recover you'll just ruin your progress." While turning the page The Old Man exclaimed to herm

"Since I've been gone, what have those 2 been doing, are they still up to no good." Dogbite was worrying herself about Kid and Marsen

"Kid has been helping the orphanage and doing many requests." The Old Man purposely left out Marsens situation

"What of Marsen?" Dogbite pushing the question

After a pause.

"I reckon he'd be lazing about somewhere maybe under a tree to catch a nap." Still avoiding what Marsen is truly doing.

"Master, you've raised both Kid and I the longest, I know when something is wrong." Dogbite starting to get worried or maybe even scared.

*Sigh* " There's nothing I can hide from you, I'm sure by now he's in GrandStone town, on a task for a monster subjugation request." The Old Man seeming almost worried himself.

"MASTER, that boy is not ready you didn't let me even attempt to hold a weapon till-" Cutting off Dogbite mid sentence

"Dogbite, I know when someone is ready this a challenge he must face himself, there's a weakness in him that he must overcome, if he ever wants to reach his old brother then let him take a chance.".The Old Man's words hurt Dogbite but he was right

"What monster is was he tasked with?" Afraid to even ask the question, Dogbite forced it out.

The Old Man looked up from the book and quietly said "Balamont."

At that moment Dogbite immediately at full speed faster than she ever ran before, running straight towards GrandStone town. By foot it takes a Suns pattern but in her case due to her beastkin physical traits, she can make it in 1 Sun rounding, she begins to pray for making it in time and for the safety of Marsen.
