37 A Bad Person

(A/N: This is yesterday's chapter, today's will be up at proper release time.)

Kingdom of Lugnica,

Irlam Village,

Samuel POV,

Samuel rubbed his chin in thought, it might have been partly his own fault considering that he could have just formed a contract with a nameless spirit, much like Julius had done. "Betty will not go into a crystal." Beatrice folded her arms and hmph'd, looking away from the silver haired teenager. First of all, she functioned on completely different principles, whether that was even possible was still up in the air.

Samuel took in a deep breath, there was one other part to what Echidna had said. 'Mid-Travel', that would imply there was clear travel from one place to the other, naturally 'unruly' entities would exist in these gaps if certain works of fiction were something to go by, maybe even those that shouldn't be named at all.

That would put her in danger, he had no way of hiding her without her being in the crystal if he did in fact, take her back. It was a modern world and his parents were fully functioning human beings, it would be outrageous to simply show up with a person out of nowhere and proclaim that she would live them, no explanations given. Maybe he could cook up something with time but the best that would accomplish would be her being sent to an orphanage.

If she lived here, she would have a person (Subaru) hellbent on keeping her safe and making sure that she has a happy ending. Competency aside, Subaru was no doubt a better person compared to Samuel who had never been of any real help to someone.... it shouldn't be that hard for her either. All things aside, she had only known him for a day or two.

Lastly, considering the danger level of the Re Zero world it was pretty obvious that this 'group chat' wasn't exactly 'caring' towards him, things would probably get more dangerous later down the line.

With a deep sigh, Samuel made his decision. A decision that greatly delighted the Witch of Greed watching over him.

He knelt down next to Beatrice confusing the Great Spirit who tilted her head in slight confusion. Samuel smiled helplessly and ruffled her hair ignoring the little girl's attempts at swatting his hand away.

He whispered something only Beatrice could hear or even understand before standing up again, a small smile still on his face. "Good luck." Samuel chuckled before being blown away by a strong burst of wind that nearly tore off his upper body.

'Are you sure that was alright?'

Samuel chuckled crashing into a tree, his way of doing things really wasn't nice at all. This way, she would have someone to rely on as well as be independent, no longer reliant on someone to make her function. He got to his feet before walking away, not daring to look at the little girl's face, it would be far too difficult to do so for himself.... it was better he didn't know what kind of expression she was making right now.

"I'm an ass."

'I wouldn't be too sure.'

Echidna sighed in slight annoyance, wouldn't it be better if he didn't put himself down so much? Beatrice was her daughter, the girl would be strong and what had just happened would help her grow as a person...

Sitting in her chair, the witch of greed slightly pouted, she didn't like how her contractor chose to show himself as the villain.

Samuel stretched his arms and put on a big smile, "Take me back."

In a flash of light, Samuel was gone, leaving behind an angry and sorrowful spirit.

Would this be the last time he was in this world? Who knows.

Tokyo, Japan,

Hayes Residence,

Samuel POV,

In a typical room with a furnished wooden floor and a window overlooking the street below. A silver haired teenager appeared right in the middle, his clothes looked strange considering the room as a whole. A simple bed, a table with a laptop and a lamp on it, a bookshelf as well as some other things one would usually see.

Samuel sighed, a mission that lasted not more than three days and was still a really wild ride.... This group chat really was something, he had no members though so could it even be called that?

He checked outside the window and it was still night, this suggested that maybe there was a time dilation or perhaps time had stopped entirely for the duration that he was gone.

'I'll be going through all you know of this world. Just ask if you want something.'

Echidna diverted her attention to scouring his memories and learning all she could while Samuel changed clothes. Neatly folding the black kimono, he placed it in the drawer before opening the door and heading to the bathroom to freshen up.

"Hurry up Samuel!" His mother's voice once more called him and this time, she used his full name meaning he needed to head down there and fast.

Quickly washing his face, Samuel checked for any peculiarities with his body before pretty much running down the stairs.

Walking into the living room, Samuel took a seat at the table, directly next to the white haired 6 year old that was observing him in curiosity. "I hope I didn't scare you." Samuel smiled cheekily, scratching the back of his head.

Rin in response simply shook her head, "Violence, common." She spoke shortly, with the fairly large presence of gangs. Violence was a thing pretty much everyone knew about.

"She's pretty shook, she did see her stupid big brother get beat up. Just give it some time." Mei whispered in his ear, setting the table. Her daughter did always retract more when something that affected her happened, she didn't quite have a way to deal with it that wouldn't be meddling so she chose to believe in the girl instead.

Samuel sighed, next time he'd have to be more careful.

Mei walked back into the kitchen, what was going to happen from here on out was something she had no choice but to stay out of, as a loyal wife and a loving mother.

She looked at Samuel for a few moments before tilting her head in slight confusion, the area around him was dimmer as compared to the surroundings? A light miasma seemed to be oozing out of him.... A small migraine came over her making the woman clench her forehead in slight pain..... She would investigate this later.

Samuel, Samuel was in an entirely different dilemma at the moment. What he did with Beatrice was somewhat weighing on his mind but that wasn't important, not right now at least.

He silently looked at the one person who had been silent all this time. A tall white haired man in white dress pants and a black shirt with a broad figure sat directly across the table with his arms folded. "Explain." Those were the only words that left the man's mouth and they were more than enough for the silver haired teenager who lowered his head.

"I was attacked taking Rin home by the son of the Yamazaki Clan." Samuel scratched the back of his head, who knows how the man would react to the information........ It probably wouldn't be pretty. As for how he recognised the man? Well it was pretty easy to do so, Gun Park or Jong Gun, was a well known figure in Japan. The White Oni, the son of the Yamazaki Clan Patriarch, was praised for his physical prowess. His activities had ceased a few years back however, even in prison, he was a well known figure. Why? Well, the Yamazaki were Yakuza.

....Samuel was right to be wary though because as soon as he did, a few veins popped out on the man's forehead. "Any injuries?" Ren Hayes, the current patriarch of the Hayes, asked folding his arm. If one were to look under the table, they would see that the floor right around his foot had slightly cracked.

"None." Samuel smiled, raising his hands helplessly, as if to show that he was completely unharmed. He was slightly afraid of what his father would do if he didn't have the ability to regenerate. "Drew blood. Small injuries I think, otherwise they wouldn't heal up fast. The area around them was in shambles." Rin spoke out calmly as she ate even with both Samuel and Mei trying to signal her to stop.

Ren stood up and got on his phone, walking away from the kitchen. He put on his coat before heading out of home before the rest of the family could even react or understand. A small boom brought the mother and her two children out of their stupor.

Samuel ran out after his father, only to see him walking away with a hand on his pockets, holding a broken phone in the other. At the same time, the iron gate to their front lawn swung around rapidly, bent more than half the way.
