1 Flashy and Colorful

The sun was already in the middle of the blue sky when a scooter hurriedly parked near a ten storey building. Chu Lian took off her helmet and grabbed a box which she brought along in the scooter.

Her face lightly flushed from the heat as small beads of sweat rolled down from her forehead. She stood in front of the glass door of the building and she could see that the there doesn't seem to have a lot of people.

Through the glass door, Chu Lian can see the gaudy and colorful sign that was placed at the back of the woman who seemed to be the receptionist. It seems like she got the correct address.

Starry Night Studio. A drama club based near the outskirts of City Y. It is a subsidiary branch of one of the top performing entertainment company for the last few years.

Chu Lian used her left hand to take a handkerchief from her pocket to pat dry her sweaty face while her other hand carried a big box. She put back her handkerchief after, then used the free hand to push open the glass door.

The interior of the building was complementary to the sign at the back of the receptionist; flashy and colorful it almost blinded Chu Lian. Although the design seemed loud, it still somehow looked pleasing to the eye.

It is quite ironic to the name of the building, Starry Night Studio, when the designs are as bright as a sunny day.

Chu Lian carried the big box to the receptionist who was on the phone listening to the scolding of the person on the other line. Perhaps because it was too far, or the place seemed to illuminate everything, Chu Lian has just noticed the way the receptionist dress. She was wearing a bright yellow suit with a little matching colored top hat pinned at her hair tied in a bun.

Her eye slightly twitched seeing everything so blinding inside this building. Chu Lian felt that everything's just as bright as the noon sun outside.

"She's here now, Manager Fang." The receptionist timidly replied in contrast with her loud outfit. She looked at Chu Lian with a relieved expression but soon after replaced by an annoyance. Chu Lian was confused but after another loud scolding through the phone, the person on the other side, whom the receptionist called Manager Fang, dropped the call.

"Why are you so late? Don't you know that the rehearsal has already started two and a half hours ago? Do you really think you are so special? The other casts were already suffering from the director's wrath and look at you still standing here!" the receptionist scowled at Chu Lian.

Chu Lian was speechless from being suddenly scolded, she has always been on time in delivering; then it dawned to her that the receptionist might have mistaken her for an actress who was late. The receptionist seeing the dumb look of the other woman got even more annoyed.

She was about to say more when Chu Lian hurriedly said, "No, no, no. You got it wrong, miss." She coughed twice, "I'm here to deliver food." She lifter her right hand that held the box and showed it to receptionist.

That was only then the receptionist noticed the box in Chu Lian's hand and the way she dressed: a simple jeans with a plain white tshirt that seemed to be a standard restaurant uniform, quite unbefitting of the gaudy but luxurious design of the building. "Oh," the receptionist recovered from her scrutinizing gaze, "why didn't you say so?"

Chu Lian was speechless once again from the shamelessness of the receptionist.

It was clearly her fault, not only did she not apologize, she also blamed Chu Lian for not being the actress she was waiting for. Chu Lian's brow furrowed but remembering that she's here to do her job, she kept it in.

"I'm from Happy Chicken Restaurant and we've got an order from a costumer named Mr. Ge Rong." Chu Lian said with a professional smile.

The receptionist was dazzled by that smile, and couldn't help but take another look at the woman in front of her.

Chu Lian is considered to have an above average beauty; she has a fresh and delicate face, a nose that wasn't too small or too big, and eyes that seemed to hide a lot of emotions. The best part of her face might be her lips that has a small smile on it that could make other people look at her more than once.

"What a nice face," the receptionist thought to herself, "it's like she can wear any mask and pull it off." Suddenly the phone on her desk rang once again and it woke her from daze. She coughed twice and said to Chu Lian, "Assistant Director Ge Rong is on drama Studio 10 and it's on the 5th floor. You can take the elevator over there and there's a number 10 on the door of the studio and you can just enter quietly. They've been expecting the food to arrive soon." She pointed the elevator to Chu Lian before she hurriedly picked up the phone.

Chu Lian muttered her thanks as she walked towards the elevator and waited for it to arrive to take her to the 5th floor.
