The ball 3
We were inside the room now. The ball room was magnificent the ambiance was like I've never seen before from the luxury of the ballroom anyone would know it's people of high class that are here
from the chairs to the cutleries were all in gold the food was buffeted with all the dishes you could ask for.....from the confectioneries to the food to the drinks screamed wealth I was gawking like a child looking at a treat and I wondered if Preston would atleast let me eat the food here
There was a bright chandelier at the centre of the ballroom which dangled and shined all across the room like they uprooted a star from the heavens just for this ball. They were long curtains all red and gold emitting wealth the area designated for the dance floor were already filled with people dancing elegantly as there heels made sounds on the marbled grounds ....I looked on in awe
Preston left me to dance with Diane and I really didn't care cause I got bushy stuffing food into my mouth and drinking whatever looked nice without the slightest hint of what it was ....I could feel Prestons eyes on me but he couldn't leave the dance midway and so I carried on eating ...a little out of spite because I could feel his blood boiling from the dance floor I chuckled slightly and then he shaked his head ...Diane said something to him and he looked at her with a weak smile and continued dancing....That was when I noticed the prying eyes of people..I noticed some girls gathered adjacent to me whispering and laughing ....I didn't care much I could effortlessly give them something to talk about
like walking in with Preston or my dressing or the chain around my neck or the metal around my feet or the way I was eating like someone who hasn't had food for a year....What I didn't expect by the way was that they were approaching me I got scared a little then I looked at Preston who was so focused on his date and I gulped ..I wished the earth will open do I may hide beneath the soil
"Hey girly, you do know this is not a Halloween party or a costume party so why you dressed like you borrowed clothes from a mad woman" one of the bullies says and they rest laughed mockingly at me
"it be best if you'd mind your business"
"Girls you know what I think Preston wanted to buy a dog and picked her at a dog store by mistake" they laughed completely ignoring my warning to stay out of my business
"Preston saw a dog with breasts so why not we all know he loves women " another girl said
"Are we supposed to hold this" she held the chain
"And do this " she dragged me and the others were pulling my hair and laughing .....I struggled till tears fell from my eyes

Everyone in the room turned to look at me and I held myself with my hands in tears ...Then I felt warm hands around me ...I looked up it was Preston the girls looked scared and mute they took two inch step away from me and Preston glared at them .....
'pah, pah, pah' the sound of the slaps filled the room
Preston slapped the girl who was pulling me with the chain and she didn't react it was as though she pleased it was just a slap
Preston was boiling in rage and I wondered why
' isn't this what he wanted that I get humiliated, that I cry of embarrassment ' I thought
"how dare you touch her she's with me" he finally said his voice calm yet daring it sent shivers down my spine and I wasn't the one being questioned
" Preston calm down don't ruin this ball because of someone you say is no one , if you didn't want her insulted you knew better than bringing her here looking like a dog " Diane said in obvious fury and Preston stared at her as she said 'dog'
"She's a slave right then please don't ruin this evening for everybody because of her" she added
"Elizabeth let's leave now" he held my hand and walked out of the room leaving everyone shocked including me...
