26 YOU SEEM TO BE UNBLOCKABLE! (3)

When she was already home her phone rang. Of course it was Daniel, who else?

She was not surprised to learn that he already knew about the incident and already had his ideas how to solve the problem. And his main idea was very simple, he offered her to stop running outside and he said that he had already ordered a running track for her and it would be installed in his training room today evening.

To his surprise the same Mary who agreed to put on a tracking bracelet a couple of days ago, refused now. No matter how much he asked, she still did not agree. She was determined to keep running in the park the same way she used to do for many days now and she was not ready to compromise. Their talk ended on a very high note, but Mary's mood was so low and her nervous system seemed to be so shaken, that she had no regrets about her firm refusal.

Actually she was not so much into sports and she lived without any sport activities for years, it would seem that it was not a big deal to stop her running or to do it at home. But for her it was not a matter of a habit or interest, it was a matter of principle. She compromised so many things along with sacrificing her privacy, that she was not ready to make further concessions, at least not now.

In the evening the delivery of their newly bought running track arrived, Mary decided not to stop them and allowed to install it in the training room. If Daniel wanted to have a running track, then why not? He could have it!

When she was already preparing for sleep a message from her employer popped up on her phone screen. He said that he already sent her the wages. She hardly worked for this company for a week, why would they send her the wages so early?

But he explained that she managed to strike very good deals for them and they doubled their profit. So they didn't want to lose her as an employee and decided to increase her wages as well as to pay her earlier this time. He also asked whether they could meet in person to discuss some business propositions and offered to schedule the meeting on Sunday, which was tomorrow.

But Mary could meet him neither on Sunday, nor on Monday, nor ever, because she could not let Daniel know that she had a job now. She did not refuse the man straight away though and said that she needed time to think it over till tomorrow.

When she went to bed she could not fall asleep for a long time, she felt a urgent need to break the rules and slip away unnoticed. She wanted to have a life, to meet people, to do things!.. And how could she do it if she had a tracker on her wrist and a guardian by her side?

When the sun went up she opened her blood-shot eyes with bluish bruises caused by lack of sleep under them. And the first thing she did was writing a message:

"Alright, it's a deal…"
