1 The moment

My life has always been worthless. All I did was waiting to die

Everyday was same, monotonous and tasteless.

But it changed on that moment.

"Excuse me?" A male voice sounded behind me.

"Yes?" I don't know why I suddenly started feeling nervous but thankfully I replied out of reflex.

"Are you from Hr department?" The man asked.

"yeah" I looked carefully at the man's eyes. It was sparkling clear and twinkling. If it was usually me, I would even avoid to look at people's face. In this few Years there's finally a person I felt good to look at.

"That's good, can you help me pass this to Mrs. Smith? Actually I went to find her in her office but there was no one around. And because it is lunch break I could only find you." the man scratched his head making me smile involuntarily.

"Alright" I nodded and took the file from him.

"thank you so much! Ah can I invite for dinner as an thanks?" the man asked.

"ah..." I was caught off guard. What would be my usual reaction to such invitations? I'm sorry, I am a bit busy these days. But why no words of rejection were coming out today?

Seeing me hesitate the man give off a big smile. "Alright wait for me after office. Can I get your number?"

I smiled lightly and gave him my number. Since I was hesitant to reject him. I could only accept his offer now.

After she left holding the file, Troy couldn't help but smile uncomfortable. He felt really excited right now. He immediately called his best bro to share his happiness.

"Bro , I got her number. And she even agreed to have dinner with me." Troy said with a proud smile on his face.

"Dude are you sure it was a smile?"

"Yes, it wasn't that polite smile but real one. I could barely take off my eyes."

"Maybe she also likes you. She has been working here for a year and never went out for dinner with any guy."

"Do you really think so?"

"Yeah, why else she agreed to your dinner invite. I'll send you some good places for first date."

After work I once again saw the man at the company gate. This time I looked at his face carefully from distance.

His face was full of hopes and happiness. He seems like a pure kid, completely opposite of those calculating people I usually encounter. How did this man managed to stay so pure? I did not know. But he was a kind of friend I have always been looking forward to but never found one.

"Candice here" the man waved at me.

"Do you have any suggestions for dinner?"

"I'm fine with anything." I replied politely.

That day he took me to a cozy restaurant. After long time I found that how good the food taste, after so many years I found my appetite back.

From then on we started meeting frequently. The man's name was Troy. It didn't take much time for me to realize that my stilled heart finally started moving.

I felt the happiness I've never felt that living was so good. I finally started finding life good and decided to live properly from then on.

It was already a month since I knew Troy. Today I finally realized that my feelings weren't merely feeling good. But I started loving Troy.

But the day I realized it was also last day of my life.

Funny, all the time when I was waiting to die but the moment I wanted to live it was already my time to leave.

Troy tried to call Candice few times but she didn't pick up his calls. They last talked on Friday night. She said that she'll have to do some chores so she can't go out on weekends.

Monday.

After reaching office he went to find Candice but she didn't came to office. She didn't even applied for leave.

Troy started feeling nervous he applied for leave and went to Candice residence.

When Troy reached there he saw police and and ambulance in front of her building. He suddenly started feeling suffocating. He opened his shirt button and stepped forward.

"Sir, do you live in this building?" A police office stopped him.

"No my, my friend lives here. She's not picking up her phone so I came to check on her. Can I go in?" Troy stammered a bit sweating nervously.

The other Cop nearby squinted his eyes on me and asked. "Is her name Candice Paterson?"

Troy felt like he lost his voice, his head kept buzzing but he still nodded heavily.

"My condolences." the police officer patted on Troy's shoulder. "You're friend's body was found in her apartment. Her body has been sent to forensic department for further details."

Listening to his words Troy could wrap his words around his head. Everything was going well. He could help thinking that if would things be different if he didn't show understanding and pestered Candice to stay with him?

Troy's heart and head started beating rapidly. He could not handle the pain in his head and heart anymore and passed out immediately.

On Friday night.

Candice suddenly felt dizzy she tried to hold onto wall but she could only catch the big photo frame.

Her head hit the hard table and the Glass photo frame fall upon her as well leaving many cuts on her skin and cutting onto her hand nerves as well. On the other hand her head also kept bleeding. He became unconscious soon.

It wasn't until Monday morning that one of the residents dog ran towards Candice apartment door and kept barking constantly. The owner felt there was think smell coming from inside and called the security guard.

When the security guard opened the door they found Candice body, which was lying there for more than two days.

Candice and Troy's grave was placed next to each other.

Troy's best friend, Adam knew that Troy liked Candice from the first day he saw her. Troy was simple, Kind hearted man who never suffer any emotional issues before because his family and friends took good care of him. Candice should be considered as his first crush and finally after 6 months he got courage to talk to Candice.

After Frequent contacts Troy knew that Candice also liked him he was just waiting for right time to confess his feelings. But before he could do so he got caught in great shock.

Candice died at the age of 23 From accident. While Troy died at the age of 24 due to heartbreak.
