A week has passed by relatively quickly with me going to the dungeon. However, I never tried to challenge the goliath as Hephaestus instructed.
Not that I was particularly against that decision. I don't court death, as some wuxia characters would say. That, and it was cleared by the Loki Familia to allow passage to Rivira on the 18th floor.
The first three days were me just going to the higher middle floors and slaughtering all the monsters there. It was from the third day onward that I decided to camp in Rivira and go to the 15-17th floors from there.
The minotaurs were not quite as problematic to deal with as much as I thought before. They were aggressive and had great strength, but that was it. Magic was an easy way to deal with them.
The ligerfangs were a much harder foe to deal with on the other hand. They were massive tiger-like creatures.
While they were admittedly weaker in strength compared to minotaurs, it was more than made up by their great nimbleness and agility. In groups, it only got worse with them covering each other up. Magic was a great help, especially since it was a no-chant one. But it was most effective to be used as a support to either immobilize or slow them down. I had to get bloody and dirty for the rest.
The magic stone sales were a pain in the ass to deal with. I could only sell them in small quantities, and I had to choose what to sell carefully. I'm not sure if Auranos already knows about me, he probably does. Caution never hurts. I was technically committing fraud. Doesn't matter if no one finds out. I doubt Auranos would give two flying fucks about magic stone fraud.
The other two days were me taking personal lessons from the goddess of the forge herself. It was mind-boggling how easier it was to get better when you have a proper teacher.
'Well, a god for a teacher.' I thought shaking my head.
I naturally was beyond ready for a level up, even going a quarter into the next one. I chose to delay it to give myself some more time to check out my arsenal in a relatively controlled area. And trying to soften the blow of the level-up a bit.
In fact, I was just going to her to 'apply' my next level up.
I entered the workshop and found her doing some paperwork '' Hey Hephie. Guess who's ready for a level-up?'' I said in a happy tone. ''You know what that means?''I grinned as I got closer to her.
It took her a bit to understand where I was going with this. She gained a faint pink shade on her cheeks '' Ridiculous! You just set the record for the fastest level up! And you're thinking of such perverse thoughts?''
''Hey! That's pretty important to me. Come on. I'd choose a date with you over some level-up record any day of the week.'' I said, holding her hands.
She huffed yet still kept on holding my hand.'' I have never done this before.'' she said in a small voice full of vulnerability.
It broke my heart seeing her like that.'' Don't worry about it. I never have as well. It will be a first for the both of us.'' I said to reassure her.
''Besides, I have something really interesting prepped up. It's going to be a fun first date.'' I smiled.
Hephaestus looked curious and was about to ask '' Tsk, tsk. It's not going to be as special if I just told you about it will it?''
She slapped my back a bit too hard, though it didn't even hurt. I guess that was some sort of payback?'' Well, let's get this level-up over with'' she said.

''This is ridiculous. Never mind skill, you can even match level 3s in pure stats. You are even higher when comparing stat totals since you max every stat as well. I can't help but feel like this is cheating.'' Said Hephaestus in a weird tone.
''I know I'm awesome. No need to tell me,'' I said laughing a bit.
''Maybe you're too awesome. This level-up could be explained. If you reach level 3 remotely at the same speed as you did, we are going to have a lot of problems Ken.'' She said slapping my back yet again.
'Does she have some sort of back fetish?'
I don't know how but she must have realised what I was thinking because she immediately retracted her hand and blushed a bit.
She coughed '' Well, two development abilities came up. [Hunter] and [Mage]. The hunter development ability is pretty rare. It improves abilities against monsters that the user has fought before and gained excelia from. The mage one is equally as rare. It Improves magic power, widens its effect range, and makes mind usage more efficient.''
''I recommend you choose Mage, you already have extremely fast growth. The increase in the hunter's ability is conditioned, but it is still powerful nonetheless. So it's your choice at the end.''
''You're right. The Mage one just seems like the better option.'' I said.
She applied it to me. I somehow didn't feel any immediate change. I now just had a feeling my magic was stronger, which was a weird sensation.
'I guess I'll just have to test things out later.'
''We got that out of the way. How about I pick you up in the afternoon?''
''THIS afternoon?!'' She said.
''Right. I said it was going to be a fun date. Just be yourself.''
''I'm not sure if that's how dates work Ken'' She said
''Well, why do we need to care about what others think? It is going to be the first experience for the two of us. It might as well be memorable''
She just nodded to my words.
