15 The Bargain

"A….god?"

It was just too much to take in at that point. He even remembered Eve. How the child said the bracelets she made were charms. He also remembered how he prayed that same evening to any god that might be existing. Yet there he was, at a loss for words because of what King Jubilee just said.

"Yes, by all mean. A creature that could transcend even them. They got bored of their status and wanted to venerate someone of higher standing than them. That's why they decided to go down our land and mate with every female species and, if they were too young, then they would simply ripen the poor wombs of those children."

"Then why didn't they just make it with their own?"

"Oh you see that's the problem. They couldn't mate with each other nor could they bear their own children. The only beings which could carry their babies was humankind, specifically the women of our race."

King Jubilee was waiting for Sol to say anything but the child was just silent. He looked like he was thinking about everything that was being told to him at that moment. He couldn't blame Sol of course. It was too much especially for a twelve-year-old child. But he had no intention of stopping and, simply continued.

"The Seraphims, well they took care of the female specie for another three years. They had no idea how to raise babies after all and, needed the help of the women. The Seraphims took on our flesh and made it so that society would be established from the ground up and, even gave us the Garden of Eden which is in the middle of all this chaos."

"But what happened to the women? Did they survive."

"Sadly no. After serving the purpose I mentioned, the Seraphims had no use for the females anymore. Thus, they were all killed just like the male species and, just like that, they've committed the largest genocide. Years passed and the new humans they took care of continued growing without any problems. But then, an anomaly happened."

Sol was shown the scene of some frustrated adults. They were shouting at each other as they looked at their own children. Not with any kind of love, but with deep regret and disgust.

"They weren't able to create a god. There were children with abilities of course but, that was the end of it. Not a single one of the desired traits was ever shown by the children."

"Wait, how about the Physical Enhancers then? Don't they fit into the category of that Samson fellow."

"That's also what I thought. But as it turns out, the raw strength needed doesn't run on mana. It's innate physical prowess that seems to be limitless."

"Limitless?"

"Of course the things I say have only been passed on to me. But that is a reasonable explanation don't you think?" Sol nodded, with King Jubilee proceeding with his explanations.

"The powers obtained by the new humans are fire, frost, and the other abilities owned by the rest of the domains. That is except…" King Jubilee pointed at Sol who continued where he left off.

"Except for us."

"Right again! You see, we are the only one who maintained the true seed of humanity. Even with those filthy Seraphims trying to rewrite the very core of our genes, we came out different. The powerless and, 'unblessed' Voids."

Sol thought about how he never felt lucky his whole life. Who the heavens itself seemed to have closed its gates on him. And at that moment, he finally had a valid proof in believing this.

"But why were we allowed to continue existing?"

"Oh we weren't. In fact, most of the Seraphims had the consensus to just kill us. But there was one group among them that was willing to take us in. Thus leading us to where we are now."

Sol was thankful for all the knowledge opened to him at that moment. No matter where he went or what book he read, he would never come to the truth if it weren't for King Jubilee. However, there was one last thing bothering Sol and, he immediately raised this up.

"Wait, that still didn't answer the initial statement you gave my liege. About how we will rule the other domains."

"That was intended boy. There are a lot of things that I haven't told you yet. In fact, I have only revealed a fraction of the truth to you. Just the very surface of it actually. This is merely a reward for that entertaining chess game we had last night."

"What do I need to do then? Do I need to play more games with you my king? If so then I request that we begin right away!" Sol spoke with absolute determination written all over his face. The king loved this. He loved how everything seemed to fit into place with Sol.

"We will still play chess of course but that would not give you any merits. What I require of you is to produce results within this week." King Jubilee snapped his fingers again and, the room turned into a seemingly infinite darkness.

"You will continue training inside the Pandora's Box as will every other member of your team. Various monsters and obstacles will be generated through your box and, this will be based on the assessment of both Colonel and Onyx who are watching over all of you." King Jubilee furthered, creating a dragon out of thin air that flew over him and Sol.

At that moment, Sol even forgot that he was even part of the Culling. He was so immersed on what was happening inside [Pandora's Box] that, everything else seemed irrelevant.

"Within this time. Within the remaining six days before the Culling. There is only one thing that I require of you Solomon. As your name suggests, you must be able to acquire one of the five powers sought after by the Seraphims." Sol realized what the king meant immediately. Reading the king's lips which spoke:

"You must acquire Solomon's Wisdom."
