3 August 28, 2040 The Battle of Mexico City

My first day using Soldier Unit 815165 was hot, sandy, and pretty chaotic. Nothing like the simulations back at Texas. Of course, that was pretty much an obvious thing, right? All those years of training and simulating don't really prepare you for all the howling and destruction. Frankly, I'm amazed I took out one of them, never mind all three.

Despite being in ruins Mexico City was still a sight to see, with nature taking back everything it was a shame that the Ningen destroyed such a beautiful place.

When I first encountered a Ningen there was a trio of them. When they first saw me they didn't just rush me. The larger one pushed the other two back before charging straight towards me. The simulations never really showed you that the Ningen were living beings too. Just giant white humanoid monsters hellbent on destruction. Fighting the big guy wasn't much of a problem, especially when you're equipped with a giant battle ax and two years of Soldier training. It was the lack of a fight the other two gave.

That was the problem. The other two had resorted to hiding from me. Due to their size and color, it wasn't really hard to find them. I found them hiding under some rumble, the bigger one cradling the smaller one as it gave out a whimpering cry. The rest really wasn't much to explain after that.

For the first time in twenty years, a Ningen was slain and it was done by my hands. It was supposed to be a momentous occasion for humanity but due to those last two, it left me with an odd feeling.

They released my battle with the first Ningen to the public and stated that during the battle the camera was damage from fighting it so they couldn't get footage of my battle with the other two. The world loved it. Seeing that even after years of peace humanity didn't get soft.

Surprisingly, they took the bodies of the three Ningen for "research purposes" as they were planning on building more soldiers and needed to see what humanity was up against. Surprisingly Ningen were much weaker than the ones from fifteen years ago so they got the chance to try building some more experimental soldiers. Didn't get told much after that. Just that I'll be getting some more roommates soon.

Turns out that Jonathan and Robert had a huge ass mansion and kept it a secret from me for all this time. They both managed to apologize about hiding it from the kid they raised but they kept me in a tiny apartment it as a means to teach me humility. I don't mind really as a mansion was a real upgrade from the little apartment I grew up in.

Signing off,

Mark Riel
