3 Darkness inside the light
Inside the imperial study, state preceptor Bai Yun Xian who was lying on her couch suddenly chuckled. She wore a blue dress with a thin veil covering the lower half of her face making her more mysterious. Despite in her 30's she has an exquisite white skin with black glossy hair making her akin to a fairy. She sat up but the smile on her face remained unchanged.
She took a jade ornament from her pouch which is glowing brilliantly, strange mysterious runes were carved on its surface.
"I didn't expect the plan to go that well, people here are all idiots". She grinned to herself.
When the light inside the jade subsided, two figures where seen lying motionless one was the demon lord Shukulas and the other was the priestess Rita. Suddenly, the smile on state preceptor's lips vanished.
"How can this be possible?", she bellowed in rage and again checked the ornament with her divine sense but the result is same.
She has spent more than three years to capture the souls of both light and darkness that is the hero and the demon lord.
How can her hard work reap her nothing?
She even manipulated everyone before her, to lay down a perfect scheme. She could feel the soul of hero just a moment ago, but all of a sudden, it disappeared.
Rage welled up inside her body, as she watched the two figures lying inside the jade.
Suddenly, she stared laughing maniacally and took out several voodoo dolls from her bosom. Each one of them is black in colour with strange runic patterns embroidered on them, With a ruthless glint in her eyes, the state preceptor lit up a fire with her left hand, then without any hesitation she threw all the voodoo dolls in the fire.
"Haha, you made a mistake by running away, oh Silly boy!, now I will let all your relatives and family die".
Inside the Imperial castle, chaos ensues as the imperial family who has ruled the Zalrak Empire for ages suddenly died, none of the members survived even the branch family died all mysteriously.
Similar cases were happening everywhere inside the mainland.
Ruth, having suffered the most brutal betrayal, is feeling as if his whole body is submerged inside water. He wanted to scream, swim to the surface but he was paralysed. He is feeling hopelessness and anger of this intensity for the first time in his life. When he finally woke up, he was again in the same white room where he first met with the goddess, but all he can feel is emptiness. He is neither happy nor sad. This is contrary to his previous reaction when he came here as Hajimi.
The goddess was standing at raised platform with tears in her eyes. Seeing her tearing up for him, Ruth has a sudden urge to slash her into a million pieces. But he knew that falling out with goddess is not beneficial for him so he suppressed his murderous desire.
The goddess took out a handkerchief and wiped her tears before answering, "you have suffered, why not enter the reincarnation cycle and cleanse your dark memories", while she was talking, she was looking at the murky colour on his heart which is not a good sign.
Hearing her say that, his expression became that of a ferocious beast ready to pounce out at any moment,"No, I will enter it eventually, but before that I have to kill that bitch. She killed me at most opportune time. I will slice her into a million pieces only then will my vengeance be completed ".
The goddess was not surprised with my sudden outburst instead there is a gently expression on her face as if looking at a child, "As I have explained you earlier, last time you died because of my mistake so I helped you reincarnate, but this time you died at the hands of the priestess so I can't help you. Every living being dies full of grievances but they have to move on. I will reincarnate you in your former world and will give you a wealthy family".
"No" this was his immediate response. Without giving her a chance to speak he pounced forward ready to press the goddess down.
The goddess was surprised, this was the first time when someone pounced towards her while she was doing her duty.
Just when he was about to reach the goddess, there was a sudden gust of wind and a mysteriously clothed male appeared.
He wore a silvery white mask that covered the majority of his face. Only his perfectly chiseled jaw could be seen. His long, black hair hung loosely down, while his cold, thin lips curved upwards, giving off a slightly demonic impression.
With a dangerous aura that made his whole body shudder, The lord said in a dangerous voice, "Some nerve you got there, you are the first to cause trouble here ".
Saying that Ruth's whole body lost control and he was smashed to the ground without having any power to even raise himself up. He wanted to retaliate but he was only a weak soul and this attach has caused his soul to start dissipate.
"Shall I squash this insect for you." The lord said while looking at the goddess, there was a sense of tenderness in his voice while he spoke.
The goddess was dumbfounded with the sudden change of events, when she came back to her senses the lord's tender voice fall into her ears, all of a sudden her whole body shook, with a mouth that can fill an apple she looked at her husband,"L,Lord, what are you doing here?"
Seeing her awestruck expression there was mirth in Lord's dark pupils.
Seeing them doing romance in front of him, while he was squashed like an insect. There was a sense of anger, jealousy and powerlessness in Ruth's eyes. He finally understood that in order to do what he wanted he should have more power. Only by more power can he do what he wanted.
When the couple took notice of Ruth who was hard pressed on the ground the goddess panicked and asked the Lord to release him, only then the Lord reluctantly release him.
When Ruth stood up he bow in apology to goddess and ask for her forgiveness, The goddess remained silent, just when she was about to ask him to enter the cycle of reincarnation to cleanse his memories the Lord's voice rang out.
"Do you want power?" The lord ask, but his words were akin to the devil's temptation for Ruth.
Without any hesitation he answered yes.
The Lord suddenly burst out in laughter, then he said to Ruth,"Do you know your current state? Let me tell you, you are about to become a fallen with resentment seeping deep inside your soul. You have two options first, enter the reincarnation cycle just as Ephilia has said or become a fallen and go to the fallen territory ".
Ruth already know that something was not right when he attached the goddess as he was not a short-tempered person, without any hesitation Ruth looked straight to the Lord and said, "I choose neither of them, what I choose is power, If any of the either of the paths can give me power to defeat my enemies, I shall choose that".
Hearing him say that the Lord laughed as if he is in a good mood,"Good Good Good. Ruth is it? I shall grant your wish, you wanted power to defeat you enemies, so I shall reincarnate you in that Cultivator's world but your soul has become contaminated with resentment, Hmmm". The Lord pondered for a while before finally snapping his fingers. Suddenly there is a white light and Ruth who was standing there just a second ago disappeared without a trace.
Seeing the scene unfolded before her eyes the goddess couldn't hold herself back and ask the Lord,"He was not like that when he first arrived here, It was due to resentment that caused his personality to change. Lord let him enter the reincarnation cycle otherwise.". She didn't complete her sentence but the Lord knew what she meant. Taking her into his arms the lord chuckled, "The cultivators from that world have been irritating this Lord from quite some time, its time to clean them up".
