24 Chapter 24: Training missions

In a dimly lit room, Dr. Joseph was sitting with another person facing each other. The other person was shrouded in darkness. One could only see his eyes and teeth.

"Joseph. If you are planning to stay any longer you should probably become an inmate. Why don't you consider joining Derrick? If you become an inmate you could participate the Prison arena and probably get a chance to kill him in a duel."

"Edmund I know you want to kill me more than anything so I'll have to decline your offer. Kekek and even if I did join I don't want to fight those monsters that are at the top of the food chain. Derrick might probably die in their hands kekeke and I will be glad to leave when I have completed my duty."

While glaring at each other they were exchanging subtle threats. It could be seen that they hated each other and if anyone was present in the room they would have fainted by the amount of killing intent coming from both the parties.

"Well you might not retrieve Athena if someone actually kills him."

"Its not your place to worry Edmund, your job is a prison warden in Ice hell and I am not a fool I have already examined his body but there seems to be no sign of Athenas presence and to confirm it we have to take help from the vampires since their interrogation abilities are exceptional. And those with mind reading abilities are all stationed at HQ of lifeguard at Holy star. We had no choice but to seek help from vampires."

"Seems like the HQ on earth is becoming shady as time pass. Tsk, I feel like I should talk to Admund again."

"Oh, you mean the gatekeeper of the academy!Kekeke. I would love to dissect and experiment on you guys the shadow twins with the same rare abilities.KEKEKE."

As he made his statement Dr. Joseph was already out of the room knowing Edmunds temper.

"Tsk. troublesome twins indeed."

Back at Derricks Cell,

Derricks body was convulsing. The D-serum was injecting him with incredible amount of energy. As the convulsions went on his pores were leaking black substances and his mouth was coughing out black blood. His recently exhausted body was now foverflowing with magic.

Derrick was experiencing something similar to a purification in his body. His magic circuit was becoming wider as time went on. His blood was experiencing a qualitative change. He felt his baby dragon body get strengthened the more pain he received. It was as if his body was a weapon constantly hammered by a divine blacksmith slowly structuring into a desired shape while gradually chipping away the useless parts.

After some time of tossing and turning, he regained his sanity back. The floor was littered with black slimy substance and Derrick body was smeared with these black stuff. But the smell was way worse than its disgusting appearance.

Derrick noticed how dirty he was.

"I should probably take a bath."

"If you didn't I might die from disgust." Lucia was still in one corner, her expression only showed disgust and annoyance while looking towards Derricks direction.

"It seems like you have advanced to E level and here I though you as an F-3 star."

She was indeed correct he was an F-3 star before but Derrick was using a D-serum when he was only an F rank. The serum was able to make him go from F-3 star directly to E rank and what Lucia didn't know was Derrick was now E-2 star instead of only 1 star even though he just broke through. And advancing needed a serum which was a level higher than an individual current rank. But Derrick had taken in a serum which would normally kill an ordinary person with the same rank.

Derrick attributed his survival to his dragon genes.

The change in his stats was significant. His magic rose by a whole 20 points. The stats was only able to measure his superficial physical abilities and who knows in a fight the force of a blow could fluctuate depending on the amount of mana he could utilise. And mastery overt control of mana came with training and a good magic circuit.

Derrick wondered what stats did the strongest person have. Was it in the three digits? or was it a four? whatever it was Derrick couldn't even dream of reach it now and he was just a passerby in the world of combat strength and to get a promotion in the world of combat from being a passerby he needed to train.

And just as this though entered his mind Athena answered to his motivations.

'Oh!thank you for your hard work Athena' like hell he was going to say that. He wanted to meet that books and tear them.

He was recently introduced to these talking books and then promoted him to the status of a master of a planet and now he was left alone without anyone helping him. He was having a great life in prison giving him time to think to reorganise his life and now he was supposed to escape from this hell hole.

'Why not? I might die trying.' He was genuinely scared even with his strengthened mind.

Tap tap tap.

"Hello,newcomer, looks like you are in a disgusting condition. Lets have a talk follow me."

The person opened up the cells and only unlocked Derricks cuffs. Derrick quietly followed the scary looking guy in curiosity.

Derrick wondered why the scary guy looked similar to Admund from the academy. He was similarly shrouded by the menacing black shadow cloak which covered every part of his body.

Soon Derrick noticed it was a small bath area. There was a decent sized hot spring too.

'A hot spring in a prison? Great!'. He was happy at the sight of a bath and without any hesitation ignoring the other party he undressed instantly before washing the dirt covering his entire body. After washing he rushed into the hot spring.

Similarly Edmund hopped into the hot spring but his shadow covering his body was now nowhere to be seen. It only revealed a body covered with scars and his face appeared middle aged.
