13 Chapter 13: The contract and what follows

"So, I have to complete a task to be given the privileges of a master under some contract but what i don't get is when did i even make a contract with you guys?"

The books stiffened hearing Derrick's question. Derrick was with them the whole time, he only realised the fact that he was pranked a while ago but he didn't consider any hidden motives from these talking books.

'Wait why did they even try to prank me? I get that they orchestrated something similar to a scam in the process of bringing me to this world but when.. It can't be.....'

"Surprisingly you are smart kid that is only when your third leg isn't the one doing the thinking. Your doubts are onpoint too. Yes, it was during the prank when you kissed elder fox the contract was made" Elder Grimoire once again responded to Derricks thoughts.

Derrick then noticed an expression actually form on Elder fox as if glaring at Elder Grimoire, she didn't seemed to like that experience either although she was the one responsible for the illusions. Derrick took a closer look, he hadn't noticed before but all the books had some kind of faint expression forming before deforming after a while when they talk. It seemed as if some form solid tides existed on the book covers. Previously derrick wasn't able to think any of this as his mind was already preoccupied with the mysteries back at the forest. He had noticed paper growing instead of fruits and some even grew books and even more foreign material unknown to Derrick existed back in the woods. He wanted to explore but that would should be something for sometime later.

"Hmmm....So, what are the actual agreements on the contract? Are any of you gonna show it to me or is it something sooo....confidential that you don't want me a mere human to know?" Derrick expression was still aloof he did not actually hold any grudge against the books, he just wanted to be aware of the details.

Derrick wanted to know the agreements too, he felt that the contract lacked credibility and a contract made while deceiving him to a point he didn't even know there existed a contract might be disadvantageous to him. He wasn't dumb to that extent yet.

Again the question that Derrick threw at them made the books stiffen. Three books were staring intently at elder Wisdom before elder fox shoved him with her edges. The contract was made by elder wisdom and elder fox was only responsible for completing the contract by acquiring the confirmation from Derrick. She had already given it back to Elder Wisdom.

"Ok, stop pushing, I'll bring it out"

Elder Wisdom started to glow, the pages were fluttering so fast before closing his covers were shut again. The contract was a huge black page,it was as tall as derrick the colour of the texts were white making the details visible.

Age: 15 years 11 months old

Height: 169 cm/ 5.7 feet

Terms and agreements:

1. Upon agreeing to this, Derrick Burningstorm will be the sole Master/Owner of Planet Gutenberg/Universe library in addition to being the Keeper of Immortal records(A simple guide to Immortality).

2. The master of the Immortal records is granted the title "Master of the Chapters".

3. When In times of calamity or anything similar, Derrick Burningstorm is obligated to protect his property in consequence of the contract, from anything classified as threat or harm as long as he is alive.

4. When in times of peace, Derrick Burningstorm is prohibited from neglecting the welfare of any existence on the planet.

5. After agreeing to the contract, Derrick Burningstorm will be granted complete privilege only if he manages to the complete the task assigned by the chapters and accordingly be provided the appropriate guidance by the chapters and immortal records.

6. Breaking any of the above agreements, Derrick Burningstorm will be transformed into a eunuch forever unable to copulate.

Note: The terms can only be changed by the chapters.

Derrick did not expect the agreements to be fair at all but, he was genuinely elated by the terms up until he reached the last one.He suddenly turned to glare at the mischievous books responsible for the terms but he saw they had already turned their face in the opposite direction as if avoiding a potential rant from a madman.

'seriously, A eunuch?'

Derrick was helpless as he read the last term again and again. He felt shivers just imagining how it would be to spend his life as a eunuch. Derrick was half-dragon having an average lifespan greater than any ordinary human, to have to spend hundreds of year without an organ to make him aroused was literal hell. He instead preferred dying.

Derrick soon made up his mind, he felt he should be diligent in his duties otherwise the consequence saw something crueler then death.

"Ahem, the task, what is it?"

Elder Wisdom soon made the contract disappear before answering to derrick.

"As a citizen of Earth, you must be aware that the HQ of lifeguard technology and research is located in your city. Yes?"

He paused confirming that Derrick knew the piece of information, and then he continued.It was a common knowledge to every citizen on Earth. Derrick had a hunch as the task might be something related to lifeguard which instantly intrigued Derrick making his curiosity spike.

"They have been busy working on a new highly classified project for a while now, we only managed to get the info from one of our spies and it was pretty easy as the races of the low dimension aren't even aware of the book race yet. And the spy has confirmed that the project was completed a few days ago."

"The main goal of the projects was to develop a super advance A.I chip in the form of an organ. The A.I is granted access to almost all the information the lifeguards had manage to discover. Some super power races has allied with the lifeguards already made big investments on this project. The A.I is a powerful weapon and its full functions are yet to be discovered..."

Derrick wondered why Mr. Wise was describing something which isn't the task. The long explanation had almost bored him, he wanted a straight forward command or something similar as he interrupted Mr.Wise.

"So, what? What is my mission then?

Derrick was staring intently at Mr. Wise clearly annoyed. And understanding Derricks expression Elder Wisdom didn't continue any further.

"I want you to steal it."

"WHAAAT?"
