12 Chapter 12: A task
"Shut it kid we are not mere talking books we are the council of the universe library, The top percentile of the Book race."
Derrick was almost shocked by the prank but his shock worsened after he saw the book talk. Derrick tried very hard to maintain a poker face unsurprised by the circus trick he just saw trying to analyse his current situation.
The book which had dark green cover spoke up flapping steadily it was elder wisdom, which was different from the blood red book that fell down earlier who was constantly laughing while flapping messily.
"eh, the book Race?Never heard of it."
"Of course you have never heard of us, even if you tried finding us your whole life you wouldn't be able to,we are not so common and our race only exist on this planet"
Hearing this Derrick still sat on the sofa observing the four books. Each had different colours. The thought that he was still talking to books who could actually talk started to escape his mind.
'Even though they are books who can talk, the green one seems clever, the white on seems to be the one i kissed earlier. Hmmm... the red one feels like a mindless brute and the blue one.....hmm '
"Yes boy, I am elder Grimoire, the mindless brute is Elder Might, the white one who pranked on you is Elder fox and lastly the smartass Elder wisdom"
As if having read his mind,he was left speechless as Elder grimoire answered to all his questions.
"Can all of you read my mind?
"No, It is my magic."
Elder Fox started floating around Derrick as if closely examining him. From the looks of it Derrick noticed the Elder fox had the voice of a female earlier.
Suddenly Derrick felt embarrassed as had realised something, he was pranked by four talking books, his face turned red in embarrassment. All his acts were being displayed as amusement for these books to see, his pants were already on the floor with only his boxers left. He had almost turned to a beast ready to ravage the lady with the night gown, which was actually the white book hovering around him. Unfortunately for Derrick every good encounter seems to come only to humiliate him in the end.
In an instant Derricks blood painted a part of the white sofa red, he was banging his head on the sofa and before he could get anymore reckless he felt his body restricted by unknown force. His head was dripping blood.
"Stop boy. Your idiotic actions won't fix your lustful character. And anyone would be in your situation while facing Elder fox's magic"
Elder Grimoire stopped him, clearly unable to watch Derricks idiotic actions any further.
'Hmmm.... Character? I see I need to work on my character.... and ignore the fact that I am turning insane by talking to books and even more taking their advice.....wait isn't it the same We normally read books but now they are actively speaking to us, it is more convenient in a way ,the process of reading has turned non existent.'
'What is this planet anyway?'
"Planet Gutenberg, The universe library"
'Hmm a planet and a library, It seems it has many books then it should probably have that...'
"Of course, it has every books found in any place in the universe"
"Then can I find some hentai manga?"
"Of cour....Huhhhh.... wait what?"
Elder grimoire suddenly choked on his words. He had been reading Derricks mind and answering to all the questions while boasting at the magnitude of the library. And of course finding a mere comic was easy for him, but if he did find it and gave it to Derrick, Elder fox would probably kill him. Elder fox was already doubtful of Derricks personality, as the books had already made a contract under Elder Grimoire's assurance that they would have to worry about Derricks character.
The three books were intently facing their front covers at the direction of elder Grimoire as if staring at him for his wrongdoings.
"Of course not, those obscene books aren't allowed in this library's collection"
Elder grimoire a talking book was actually sweating.
'Tch, it not impressive as I thought, How do I get return now?'
Derrick fell into his thoughts again dissapointed by Elder Grimoire's reply. Now his interest in this world was already extinguished, there was no women no hentai, so he felt like returning home.
Elder Grimoire panicked while he read the thoughts in Derricks mind and started to hastily explain derricks situation fearing Derrick might not respect the contact.
"Wait wait boy, the library isn't only about the books, it also has the records of all the skills and abilities granting the opportunity to learn all of them and moreover under the contract the new master of the the universe library would be you. Hey boy are you listening"
Derrick was picking his nose showing an expression of disinterest. In fact the new information had already picked his interest, but he tried not to think about it and his mind was filled with only the thoughts of curvy girls. Making elder Grimoire's mind reading ability pointless.
"How do I even know you are not scamming me again?"
Derrick had learnt enough lesson he wasn't going to let anyone play with him anymore.
At the same time the books seemingly looking at each while their front covers faced each other making a unanimous decision. They were going to gain Derricks trust or their future masters trust.
"Follow me, Let us prove ourselves to you."
This time it was not Elder grimoire talking, it was instead elder fox. Elder fox glowed for an instant making the library disappear in smokes revealing a only a greenish environment. Derrick and the four books were in the middle of a forrest. All the palace, the hallway everything was gone as if it was an illusion.
"Of course, it was an illusion. What did you think? Did you think that we would actually grant you freedom to access the sacred library to a complete stranger? Kid this isn't a joke at all, any information related to this library could get you killed.This is a library that the whole universe hasn't been able to find over a long time.
Moreover, the library holds all the secret one could actually dream to acquire and the most precious of the all immoral "
Noticing Derricks expression Elder Fox spoke keeping his thoughts in place. Derrick gulped hearing all the information from Elder fox, and unlike the other books he felt that Elder fox had a cold personality. But still he was annoyed being called kid by a bunch of books all the time.
After travelling some distance along with the books, Derrick reached a clearing it was a wide space only filled with layers of grass almost forming a bed and in the centre stood an incredible humongous tree towering into the sky, its trunk was huge which was covered with moss and coiled with numerous vines. Derrick couldn't see the top of the tree, its tip was somewhere beyond the clouds.
Elder fox continued leading him to towards the bottom of the tree where the roots dug deep into the soil and strangely Elder fox didn't stop she went through the roots that was even talker than derrick. Derrick also proceeded without stopping but as soon as he entered he was introduced to an unexpected hall. At the other end of the hall stood a majestic throne perhaps for a king and little bit below the elevated platform in front of the throne was the beautiful altar.
The altar was circular which was built with marbles and beautiful stones. A Beautiful black book full of glowing inscriptions could be seen floating on top the altar. Just below it embers ov various colors were circulating as if keeping ht book afloat.
Upon reaching the altar Elder fox continued with her speech.
"This book contains the secret to immortality, giving a person the ability to rule the universe and we four books are only the first four chapters of this book. Under the agreements of the contract you will be our masters in simple words you are the owner of this book and the planet. The planet itself is the library. But before you are granted the rights to touch this or use this book, Derrick you will have to complete a task given by us"
Derrick also desired the power a immortal had he needed the strength to reach his parents and without hesitation he agreed to it.
"Ok, what's the task?"
