Chapter 12

[A/N: Yeahhh, so I'm back from the dead! I was sick for almost a week now but feel much better now. I also took this time to finish the Pokedex in Pokémon Violet. Still, I hope everyone will enjoy this chapter since we are back to the next Gacha world!]

A Simple Fisherman in RWBY

Chapter 12

[Valenturier DM]

Valenturier: Hey! I didn't expect to receive your message so early in the morning. Why were you up this early lol?

Valenturier: I won't be polite since you offered something in exchange for this fishing spot. Please bring me fresh Forever fall-stripped carp from the place. In a week or so, it will be my father's birthday. I hope I can make some nostalgic dishes with those fish. Many thanks for considering my request.

Valenturier: As for advice… The last time my father and I visited the place with a professional huntsman team interested in the quest posted by yours truly on the huntsman board, we discovered that an Alpha Major Ursa had taken over the area as the Overlord. The Overlord had various Ursa and even some major Ursa under him. It was a very horrifying sight to witness.

Valenturier: We immediately left the area before being spotted and have yet to return ever since. The quest in the huntsman board became an A-tier quest.

Valenturier: I don't know how strong you are or why you are so interested in those hidden places, but be careful… I don't want to see someone lose his life over this.

"Mudkip, Water Gun!" I shouted again, directing my Pokémon's attention to the Ursa Grimm obstructing our path. "Mudkip!" cried my companion, unleashing a powerful jet of water that crashed into the Ursa with incredible force into a tree. I snapped my finger with joy. "Great! Now Mudkip finishes this Ursa with a—"

As I was overseeing the fight between Mudkip and the Ursa, my ears perked up, catching the rapid approach of something from my left. Reacting instinctively, I rolled to the side, narrowly evading the lunge of another Ursa Grimm. "Shit! Qrow! The Forever Fall forest has been calmer lately, my foot!"

I stood up from the ground, brandished my spear, and looked at Mudkip as he fought against the Ursa as another joined the fray. It looked like I was destined to fight the Ursa, who tried to ambush me alone.

I clicked my tongue in annoyance as I charged toward the Ursa. I met the beast head-on, evading its paw swipes and countering with a rapid thrust toward its naked chest.

The beast roared in pain as it looked at me with pure hate dripping from its red, soulless eyes. It didn't hesitate to bite me as I swiftly withdrew my spear and stepped back to evaluate my next course of action. The Ursa charged toward me angrily as it retaliated with a swipe of its massive paw. I stood my ground and deftly parried the blow with the shaft of my spear. I gritted my teeth as I reinforced my aura, and I immediately followed this moment of vulnerability of the Ursa with a lunge and drove my spear toward its flank.

ROAAAAAAR

I then followed with a sweeping slash targeting Ursa's legs. I wanted to immobilize the monster, create an opportunity for a decisive strike, and end this fight quickly. The Ursa staggered from the attack as I jumped toward the beast, raised my spear overhead, and brought it down with all my strength mixed with my aura toward the creature's head.

The Grimm roared as I shattered the skull on his head and finished the hunt with a simple yet powerful thrust under his jaw that went through its head. I panted harshly and looked as the corpse of the Ursa quietly disappeared under my eyes.

As soon as I finished my hunt with the Grimm, my attention was abruptly attracted by my partner's frantic cry. "MUDKIP!" cried my Mudkip urgently with a tinge of worry as I turned my head and opened my eyes wide open in shock.

"HOLY SHIT" I exclaimed instinctively and ducked immediately as a colossal figure hurtled passed me at an alarming speed. The enraged Ursa Grimm let out a thunderous roar, crashing into a massive tree. I dumbfoundedly looked at the pitiful and wet Ursa as a super-fast Mudkip executed the Grimm with a terrifying headbutt, colliding with the Grimm and killing it instantly.

Mudkip jumped back to his feet and looked at me with a proud face. My lips twitched as I opened my mouth, and I wanted to make him remember the incident until I shut my mouth back. I let out a sigh and rubbed his head with a smile. "Good job, Mudkip!"

"Mudkip!" cried my companion as he jumped up and down happily. He was finally happy to fight beside his trainer.

I stretched momentarily as I felt tired from the fight and was ready to leave. "All right, now that we took care of that ursa, we should continue our journey toward—" [Thud!]

"Huh?"

I blinked in confusion at a random sound that happened nearby, looking around suspiciously. Mudkip caught my attention, tapping my leg and pointing toward the source of the noise. My face paled as I saw a huge hive on the ground near the giant tree where the Ursa had crashed.

"Don't tell me..." I muttered under my breath as my heart skipped a beat. I was prepared to run away. Unfortunately, luck seemed to have abandoned me then. Numerous Rapier Wasp Grimm emerged from the hive, and their cold, menacing gazes fixated angrily on Mudkip and me.

Exhaustion lingered on my face as I assessed the new incident before us. But then, a surge of irritation replaced my exhaustion. "You know what? Fuck it." I turned to Mudkip and issued a simple command. "Mudkip hit them with Surf."

A burst of joy illuminated Mudkip's face as it eagerly responded to the command. "MUDKIP!"

In an instant, the atmosphere shifted as Mudkip summoned the power of the ocean, unleashing a powerful Surf attack that surged toward the approaching Rapier Wasps. The forest echoed with the rush of water and the indignant cries of the Grimm, creating chaos inside the heart of the Forever Fall forest.

"Huh... maybe I went too far..." I muttered, casting a sheepish glance at the aftermath of Mudkip's unleashed Surf. The evidence of the display was all around the forest – puddles gathering on the ground, patches of mud, and a few unfortunate trees showing signs of the aquatic onslaught.

I shook my head and sank to the ground with a weary sigh, leaning against a nearby tree for support. Closing my eyes, I let the fatigue settle in physically and mentally. I never expected my trip to be this exciting... I was not even that deep inside the forest, and Mudkip and I encountered various Grimm.

I took out my scroll to look at the map to see where I was since I was unfamiliar with the area. I frowned lightly when I saw my position. I was in the deep side of the forest, and yet I wasn't even close to the place. I put my scroll aside and looked at my Mudkip, who was eating some snacks I had brought. "Let's go, Mudkip! We still have a long way to go before we reach the place."

"Mudkip!"

A few hours later...

"I should be close to the place according to my map," I muttered under my breath, my gaze sweeping the surroundings. I felt really uneasy because of the claw marks etched on the trees and rocks, a clear sign of a formidable Grimm's presence. Cautiously, I crouched and ran my fingers over a deep claw mark etched into the ground.

Without a doubt, I have ventured into the territory of the area's Overlord. The deep imprints on the ground made me frown. The size of the claw left a pit inside my stomach. I knew this Overlord was different from the Ursa that I fought. However, it also meant that the hidden pound must be within proximity. As Mudkip and I ventured deeper, a distant growl echoed through the forest as I exchanged a knowing look with my Mudkip. I immediately armed myself with my spear as I carefully trudged the area while Mudkip focused on the fins on top of his head.

I silently followed the map and the clues left by the Grimm. I pressed on, determined to reach the hidden fishing spot today. I soon stopped in my tracks and saw a blocked opening directly before me. I quickly parted the dense foliage before me and was soon awed.

I stumbled upon the hidden lake, not a pound, as I understood why Valenturier's dad would come here to fish. A pristine lake appeared in my eyes, nestled in a natural clearing surrounded by towering red-leafed trees adorned with dust-red grass.

The lake's clear waters revealed a hidden world beneath the surface. I could occasionally see a glimpse of fish inside the lake. A soft breeze rustled the leaves overhead, creating gentle ripples on the water's surface.

I soon came to my senses, sensing an anomaly in this beautiful place. I looked around urgently, and my face darkened. "Mudkip? Do you feel anything?" I asked in a hurry and held my spear aggressively.

Mudkip blinked in confusion until he realized. He looked around, sniffed the air, and used his fin, yet he sensed no Grimm around us.

Sure enough, there was no Grimm around here, and yet the claw mark around told us otherwise. Even my Mudkip couldn't sense any Grimm around here. I licked my dry lips as I looked around with suspicion. "This is not right… Where is that Alpha Major Ursa? Valenturier told me that the Grimm should be around this place…"

Then again, it has been many years since he visited this place, and I doubt he could answer my doubt. I walked toward the now lake in wonder. Did the Overlord leave this place? But what about the growl I heard…?

I glanced at the seductive and enchanting lake at the corner of my eyes.

Fuck it!

I have to Gacha now. It has been too long! I can think about the Grimm later. With a flick of my right arm, my spear transformed into a fishing rod. "Mudkip, can you guard this place while I fish? I need to do this now and can only count on you."

Mudkip nodded as he quickly disappeared from my vision, leaving me alone in this place. I shrugged and put the Grimm's disappearance in the back of my mind. Now, I have to take care of my urges.

I pulled my foldable chair from the storage and sat down. I pumped aura into my rod and activated my semblance.

So let's fucking do this gang!

I hope I get a good world!

Creation is hard, cheer me up!
