7 He needs discipline.

Dinner went along as usual until it was time for desert. My dad looked at me after I finished my burger and said something I did not expect, "Michael, you can get a Vanniluxe Deluxe for desert." When I heard that, I did a internal fist pump. It has been so long since I was allowed to eat sweets.

Dad banned me from eating sweets often and considering that the amount of calories in the Vanniluxe Deluxe was more than everything else I had eaten for that day, i have been able to eat it on three occasions. Those three times were the best days in my life. The day I entered school, when I started training at the gym and when I first met grandpa.

I was suspicious, I only get to eat it when something big happens. No matter how much I think, I can't figure out what the big occasion is. As my mind went off on a tangent, my Vanniluxe Deluxe was served along with Maylene and Candice's. I shove these thoughts out of my mind and shove the ice cream into my mouth.

Even though I always preferred chocolate over vanilla, this vanilla ice cream is the best I have ever had. I was eating relatively fast but it was nothing compared to Candice and Maylene. Candice always loved cold food and Maylene eats so much that I feel like I am in a shonen anime.

By the time I was half done, they were already finished and were staring at me waiting. My parents seeing this, told me to stop eating for a minute so I could open my presents. I ignored as usual, they are not taking this sweet justice away from me!

My mom seeing that I ignored her, tried to take the bowl away from her. This is the moment my monster 7 year old body shines. After a short struggle, I quickly overpowered my mom and tucked the bowl close too my chest.

My dad was about to get up and take it from me but grandpa stood up and said, "let me." Hearing that grandpa was going to deal with it, my dad had a triumphant look on his face.

Before I could question why he was so sure of his victory, I saw a blur and felt the bowl ripped from hands with little effort. In the time that it takes to blink, grandpa was already sitting down with my ice cream, happily eating away.

I was baffled. There was no way a human could be so fast. I wasn't the only one shocked either. Everyone at the table had a expression of shock on their face. Well everyone except my dad who still had his smug grin of victory.

"Thanks dad. It is getting harder and harder to discipline this brat these days." My dad said, relishing in his victory against his inhuman son.

Grandpa looked up from my ice cream and looked at my dad. "You're a disappointment to the men of the Silt family. Can't even educate your child properly." My dad's started to gain a deep hue of red, clearly embarrassed by being looked down upon by his own father.

Seeing the state my father was in, I could not help but to laugh. Serves him right for trying to take my ice cream. Hearing my laughter, grandpa turned to me and looked me right into the eyes.

"What are you laughing about. If you don't have the strength to protect your ice cream, how will ever be able to protect those close to you?" Grandpa asked me. I was unable to comprehend this sudden shift in mood but grandpa was not planning on waiting for me.

Grandpa, not waiting for me to answer his question, turned to my father and spoke. "I'm taking the kid back with me to Celestic town." Grandpa, without even wasting a second, turned to me. "Pack your things kid. I have decided that I am going to discipline you in your parents place."

"Dad, calm down. There is no need to for that. He was just excited since it was his birthday." My dad seeing that the situation was escalating quickly, tried reasoning with grandpa.

"I don't care, he is coming with me tonight and that is final." Grandpa said, clearly not taking no as an answer.

"Dad, he is just seven. He still has three years of school left. The last three years are too important to miss." My dad gave a reason even grandpa could not refute.

"Alright, then I will only have him for a year and I will teach him while he is with me." Grandpa seemed content with this compromise and got up from up the table.

"No dad, he can't just up and leave school. Do you know hard it will be to catch up on a year of school? It has been over forty years since you were in a school dad, the curriculum has changed since then..." dad tried to reason with grandpa again but it did little to sway grandpa.

"I wasn't planning on teaching him that gibberish that those professors spout, I'm going to teach him how to be a Pokémon trainer." Grandpa said, flexing his arm. Why is flexing his arm?

Seeing how hard-headed grandpa was being, dad took a deep breath and thought about it for a moment. Being trained by a prodigy would definitely help his son's growth. Finally, with a sigh, dad came to a decision. With a look of reluctance on his face, he said, "fine, but only for one year, alright dad?"

"I knew you would come around. Come on kid, we have to pack your stuff." Grandpa said as he walked out of the door.

As if. I just stayed in my chair. I never agreed to any of this in the first place.

After a minute grandpa walked back into the room. He walked up to me and kneeled down. He looked into my eyes, with a face that seemed on the verge of tears, and said, "do you not want to stay with grandpa for a year?"

I felt conflicted but in the end I nodded my head. Grandpa, seeing this, closed his eyes. After a moment he opened them again and before I could say sorry, I was already lifted off of my feet and thrown onto his shoulder. No matter how much I struggled, grandpa did not budge in the slightest.

"I am taking this ungrateful brat back to your house to pack his things. See you there," Grandpa said as he left the bar. My parents watched us go with some reluctance in their eyes and I swore I saw a trace of pity in my dad's eyes.
