6 CHAPTER 6 MEMORIES PT 2

The whole walk to Simon's tower Jane found herself glancing up at the prince. His hair was darker than any of the other people she had seen around the palace but wasn't nearly as dark as her hair. The two of them spoke about the sudden engagement, it deeply worried her that the Emperor had been serious about the whole thing.

"I'm literally going to be pulling out all your locked away memories, but it shouldn't hurt. Did you speak English where you came from as well? I noticed a slight accent when you speak, if not I'm going to have to add a translation bit to the spell so that Beau and I may understand what's going on."

Jane shook her head as she looked around the room, it's walls were completely covered with books of all different colors. She noticed a lavender plant not doing so well in the windowsill.

"No I spoke Korean mostly. I only know English because my parents sent me to the United Kingdom for my education. The only reason my name is Jane is because they let me legally at it front of my original name so I wouldn't have a hard time being made fun of by my peers for having a Korean name."

Simon and Beau looked confused at the mention of Korean, and the United Kingdom. Jane looked them stunned they really had no idea.

"T-They're like different lands in my world, I lived in two when I was young, one in the east and the other in the west… um this place reminds me more of the west though."

Beau tilted his head the idea of calling two places home seem strange to him, he had traveled plenty as a crown prince but Stonia was always home.

"You're going to have to trust me, I can't grab the memories if you don't. Also you can place your binding belonging in the bowl"

Jane smiled nervously and gently placed her rings into the bowl and then faced Simon.

"I trust you."

Simon lifted a beautifully carved piece of wood and stone which Jane assumed to be a wand to her temple. She felt a bit light headed as he began to pull one silver slither after another, after about ten minutes he smiled pulling the last one out.

"That was a lot easier than I thought, I've never done that before so I was a bit unsure about myself… but that should be it. Now I know this may startle you but I need you to cut your hand."

"Wait. That was your first time doing that? Am I some kind of guinea pig to you? You could have messed up my mind? Cut my hand? For whatever reason?"

Simon rolled his eyes waving away her worried questions.

"Your blood will act as the key to unlock everything so that we can all see the memories, it'll almost be like a opera right before us."

Jane clutched both her hands together tightly hiding them behind her back, feeling a bit frightened she leaned over the large bowl seeing her memories swirl around in a gentle white glow.

"Should I cut your hand for you? It can be a bit unnerving to do it yourself… "

Beau reached over taking one of her hands in his, he watched her expression carefully as he pulled off the white glove from her clammy fingers.

"I honestly don't think I could stomach the thought of doing it myself. I technically went to medical school but for the medicinal part."

She murmured weakly as he took her hand holding it above the stone bowl.

"It will only hurt for just a second and then Simon can heal the cut and it'll be like it never happened."

She looked up at the prince nervously as he took a small dagger out from his belt, she felt a droplet of sweat appear on her forehead.

"I'm terrified of blood- Ah!"

Jane blurted out suddenly, but it was too late. A swift cut across her palm and droplets of blood began to drip into the bowl slowly. Beau could feel her trembling by the grip on her wrist and quickly put away the blade and wrapped an arm around her waist to keep her steady as the bowl filled with her memories began to glow more brightly.

"It's my wedding day."

Suddenly Jane could care less about the cut on on her hand; She couldn't even pay attention to Beau wrapping it with a handkerchief tightly to stop th bleeding.

"You were a stunning bride."

Simon murmured gently as the memories began to unfold standing closer to get a better look. Jane watched as she kissed Jun after her vows, the her in the memory projection looked blissfully happy as she held hands with her husband walking down the aisle. Then came a more painful memory, the fertility doctor.

"You both are healthy, I'm really unsure as to why you haven't become pregnant yet. Just keep trying, drink lots of water and tea, eat healthy, maybe take some time off work to relax. A baby will come in time."

They all watched as Jun stormed out the office upset and Jane could remember the exact feeling of hopelessness she felt that day. Simon and Beau glanced at you as the memories progressed, soon you were always alone in the apartment, Jun hardly ever coming home and when he did he was sitting in front of the TV playing video games.

*It really was getting bad. How could I have not noticed then?*

"I moved all my stuff from our place, and I'm handing in the divorce paperwork tomorrow. It's over Jane. You knew this was coming."

Jane held her breath as she watched herself run out the cafe, Simon and Beau watched horrified as they watched her get hit by a truck, her small body flying, her soon to be ex husband clutching her lifeless body. Jane wondered if she had imaged the goddess that led her into the light as she watch herself die and her body get picked up by paramedics, Jun covered in her own blood in a horrified daze.

"You really did die."

Simon whispered shocked looking at Jane as tears started to stream down her face, the memories stopped and the light died down but then your wedding bands began to glow brightly showing a new picture.

Your funeral.

"I really did."

She gasped covering her mouth in horror as she watched her husband bow to everyone welcoming them to service. She watch her mother clutch her older brother and father sobbing, her coworkers and students paying their respects to a large framed picture of her on top of her coffin. A sob escaped as she watched her childhood best friend from boarding school Emily come forward and bow for a long time. Beau wrapped his arm around her tighter.

"Jane it's fine, you're here. You're safe."

But it wasn't the fact that she was scared of her death. She was destroyed by the amount of hurt she had caused the ones she loved most. She tried to reach out seeing her best friend and brother hold each other closely, she remembered the two had just started dating and she recalled how happy she was when she saw them together for the first time.

Then the image changed again. This time Jun was alone in the home the two of them shared and the doorbell rang Jane watched him answer the door to his secretary Yuna, she felt as though she got punched in the gut when she watched that woman wrap her arms around her husband's neck and kissed him.

"It's finally all over. We can finally be together. All that hiding for 2 years is finally over."

"Yes darling, it worked out better than we thought, we can use the life insurance and that woman's savings to start our new life together and for our little one."

Jane began to shake with anger and feel sick to her stomach as she watched him place a hand on her belly. She was pregnant with his child. The only thing she had wanted for years. He had cheated for two years. And they were reaping the benefits of the money from her death and having a happy ending.

The bowl appeared empty, the memories slowly faded into thin air, all that was left were her rings that held a soft glow. She didn't dare touch them. They only made her feel disgusted after what she just saw.

Beau and Simon watched her die, and then her husband turned out to have been having any affair and was benefiting from her death. Beau look down when he felt her tremble in his arms, and tried to hold her tightly.

"I'm going to go back. I will go back and make them pay."

She pulled herself from his grasp and began to pace the room frantically, Beau looked over at Simon who was just as stunned as he was. He cautiously walked over to Jane placing a gentle hand on her shoulder.

"You can't go back. Your soul has left that world and somehow found it's way here."

Jane pulled away as though someone had struck her.

"What do you mean I can't back?! T-That bastard robbed me of everything. He betrayed me! H-he can't just get to live happily ever after while-while I'm here! In some made up world!"

She fell to the floor with grief wrapping her arms around her knees sobbing, the two men crouched down on the ground in front of her.

"Jane."

She ignore Simon.

"Jane."

Beau tried.

"WHAT?! What could you two possibly have to say?"

They were taken aback but Beau reached forward to tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear as the tears continued to flow from her eyes

*Simon was right the mental pain is way worse than the physical pain from the spell locking her memories*

"This world is just as real as the one you came from, I would know I've lived in it now for twenty six years. You found your way to my kingdom, and I have been entrusted with your care. Do not think of this as some strange punishment but a second chance, a second life."

"B-But it don't know anyone here, I have no family, no money, I don't even know anything about this place."

Beau pressed his thumb onto her lips shushing her panic.

"I prince Beau Delmar vow to you that the life you will have here will be the life you deserve. Not the mess we just saw before us."

The tightness in her chest made it painful to breath, the corset suddenly felt extremely constricting.

"I-I can't breath. The corset, i-it's too tight"

"She seems to be having a nervous breakdown, Beau loosen her corset stings."

"Excuse me?"

"Loosen her corset strings she's going blue in the face you idiot!"

Baeu frantically reached behind her undoing the strings of her dress, color slowly began returning to her face. Simon reached forward holding the hand that was cut for the spell and bagan to heal it with his magical energy.

"I feel faint."

"It's fine, you just went through a lot. You are safe just close your eyes, you will be back in your room when you wake up."

Jane tried to fight the strong feeling of sleep that overcame her but soon she was asleep limp in Beau arms.

"Did you just make her faint?"

"I just put her into a magical slumber, that was shocking even for me. All my years of magical education and I've only heard of fables about people like her. There's no way for her to return, I'm going to have to get approval to go through the archives to find anything on the subject of souls traveling to different worlds."

Beau sighed softly looking down at Jane's expression as she slept, even in a magical slumber she looked upset. He smoothed the furrow in between her eyebrows and she suddenly nuzzled herself deeper into his embrace.

"We are going to do everything possible to help her adjust to life in Stonia."

"Well if she isn't leaving doesn't that technically mean you'll be marrying her as under your father's orders?"

Beau caressed her cheek and chuckled when a soft smile touched Jane's lips.

"Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad thing, father was right that no woman in Stonia has caught my interest. Maybe I just needed someone for an entirely different world."

Simon gave his friend a gentle punch in the shoulder jokingly.

"I'll be sure the magical performance will be a spectacle at your wedding."
