5 CHAPTER 5 MEMORIES

M-Marriage?"

"Father! That's outrageous, she quite literally fell from the sky and now you are going to make her future empress? My wife?"

The emperor chuckled seeing his son so flustered, he then stood up and clapped his son on the shoulder.

"You have taken no interest in any of the countless women I have offered to be your bride, I am indebted to this young woman in front of me so you shall marry her. I'm not saying tomorrow, or next month, take the time to get to know each other. Now go, I need rest."

Jane stood stunned as Simon and Beau each grabbed one of her elbows dragging her out of the tea room.

"What the hell just happened?"

She murmured in a daze as the continued to drag her down several long hallways.

"You saved the Emperor so now you will… you will be my wife."

Beau shook his head at the idea of marriage, he looked down at Jane trying to imagine her in a white gown, but with her commoner male clothing on he found it impossible.

"I can't marry you, I'm already married or I was. Christ that hurts."

Very single time she tried to think of her past life the headaches appeared, once the trio had returned to Jane's room they released her from their vice grip and she collapsed into a nearby chair.

"You keep saying you're married but there is no ring on your finger."

Simon accused pointing at her hand where a wedding ring should be.

"I wear it on a chain, I'm a Botanist and deal with dirt a lot so to not get them dirty I wear them like this."

She pulled her wedding band and engagement rings from inside her blouse hanging on a thin whit gold chain.

"I probably should have returned them though."

She murmured gently, taking off the jewelry letting them sit in the palm of her hand. They mocked her, all the promises they held meant nothing. Simon and Beau watched at the girl sit and stare at the small jewels in her hands.

"Why do you say you should have returned them?"

Beau knelt down in front of her, his hand covering the rings her hand to make her look at him. When she finally did he was shocked to see her eyes full of tears.

"Every time I try to speak of it a headache takes over."

"Simon there must be something you can do? How are we going to figure out who she is if she can't tell us without passing out?"

Simon sighed pacing the room as he thought of every magical spell he could think of. If his assumptions about Jane were right, his best bet would be removing the memories themselves from her so they should all see them together.

"I know of one way, but she would have to give up her memories."

"Give them up?"

"There is a lock on your mind, every time you try to remember you are faced with incredible physical pain. It does not compare to the emotional pain you have been through, while I healed you when we brought you back to the palace I got a taste of it. The only way we'll know who you are and how you got here is if you're willing to lose your memories so that they speak for themselves."

Jane stood silent she pulled her hands away from Beau's to look at her wedding rings again. Did she even want to return? Would it be so bad to forget everything in the end?

"Fine. I'll give up my memories. But is there anyway i can see what's happened where I came from? People must know I'm missing. My parents, my older brother, my best friend…"

Simon nodded.

"If you are willing to give up something that binds you to where you came from I'm sure we can see the aftermath of your arrival here. But first… You must get properly dressed."

The two left you to the maids to dress you while they got everything ready in Simon's tower for the spells he was going to cast. As the young maid named rose tightened your corset as tight as she could she sighed frustrated.

"I have never seen such a tiny waist in all my life, we're going to have to get smaller corsets made for you. I've never met a woman as tiny as you."

Jane blushed furiously, that was one thing that didn't change, she was even short to Korean standards back home.

"It's called being petite. Are we done yet this seems like a bunch of fuss."

"Aye, you look lovely. A proper lady now."

The maids moved from the mirrors so Jane could see herself. She was shocked. The blush gown did make her waist look incredibly small. They had braided her long dark hair into an elegant half up half down look. She didn't look this lovely since her wedding day.

"Well you clean up nicely."

Jane turned to see the two men standing int he door way smiling at her new appearance.

"T-Thank you. It's a bit heavier than what I'm used to."

*Beau's POV*

I bowed and offered my arm to the stunning woman before us and she looked at me with confusion.

"Do you not even have these customs where you come from?"

Jane shocked shook her head a nervous chuckle escaping her lip.

"No we don't, what am I supposed to do?"

I took her arm gently and laced it through my own, next to me she looked even smaller standing several centimeters below my shoulder.

"We are engaged after all."

She blushed a bright red as we began making our way to Simon's magical tower.

"I do hope your father wasn't serious about that, I fully intend to return to where I came from."

"His majesty never jokes about things like that, rumor has spread throughout the palace that I'm marrying a fairy princess that I found in the woods because of how small you are."

I watched as she huffed annoyed, did she not like it when people mentioned her small stature?

"Enough marriage chit chat, Jane I need you to stand in front of that large stone bowl. Let's get these memories out of you and see what we can do about getting you home."
