6 Decision

She felt foolish to forsake her hard work and progress for a man who had hurt her in the worst imaginable way. So just for the sake of him, she would not sacrifice her dreams. She had been blinded by her love for him that she did not realize when she had changed. She had made sacrifices for their relationship. She thought that's how it worked. But she was wrong and her sacrifices turned out to be in vain. She was the one giving her all in this relationship but no more. Whatever she did was in the past, and form now, she would live only in present and hope for a better future.

For her future, she took a decision.

She knew that it was late but she needed to make this call. She has decided and if she delayed she knew that she would bend and she did not want that. She took a deep breath, took her phone out of her purse, typed the number and hit the green button.

He picked up at the first ring.

When he asked if she was alright she could not stop the sob that left her lips. He has always treated her like a daughter so he deserved to know the truth. Shirley told him everything. He assured her that he won't tell that rat bastard where she was. He also suggested that if she wanted to teach him a lesson, he knows some people who are experts at breaking bones. It would only take one call from him to send Aaron hospital for at least a few months.

She felt her heart constrict at the thought of him getting beaten black and blue. She was not tempted to do that and in the end, she politely refused his oh so generous suggestion.

He reluctantly agreed. But then next second, he cheerfully told her that she might meet a great guy on her trip. The world is not devoid of handsome and intelligent guys just take him for example. She laughed at his remark. She did not know if she would want to jump into another relationship so soon or want another relationship at all.

But to not let the old man worry for her, she told him that she would keep an eye open for a man like that. In the end, he also agreed that a change in scenery will do her good. Telling her to take care, he disconnected the call.

Shirley felt a little lighter. She was glad that at least one thing was out of her way. Now, all she needed was some sleep. She went to the kitchen and looked in the cabinets. Finally, she found what she was looking for.

She took out the Stroh Rum and went to her bedroom. She knew she won't be able to sleep without any help. So she decided to drink. She chose this one, as it was his prized possession. He had spent a fortune on that and they rarely drank from it. She stripped out of her clothes and then crawled in between the sheets.

Taking a mouthful directly from the bottle she felt the burn as it slides inside. She chocked at the strong taste and coughed but continued. She knew it would lead to a huge hangover when she wakes up. But she couldn't care less.

Right now, all she wanted was to drink her sorrows away. She was getting flashbacks of his taunts. His jabs have pierced her heart. Why would he do that? Why was he saying all of this to her? She has only been with him. Why would he call her a cheater? All of these questions swirled in her mind.

Something was definitely wrong. She had this tingling sensation in the back of her mind. But nothing came to her as she drowned in the sea of grief. She did not know when she finally succumbed to sleep under the influence of alcohol. She did not have a peaceful sleep. In her dreams, she was haunted by his words. Every foul word was imprinted in her mind.
