1 Prologue

Sapphire Rose, she goes by many names. Nerd, outcast, freak just to name a few. She is bullied at school and at home. She has never done any wrong to anyone or even hurt a damn fly, but bullies don't care. It's because she is different from the rest of her perfect family, the Fontanas'. All are blonde and brown eyed while she is a redhead with blue eyes that always turned pale blue when she got angry, her mother's biggest mistake so they tell her.

Her biggest bullies are her family. Well, step-brother Alec Fontana who never really bullied her, he simply did not care as a brother should, step-sister Summer Fontana and her brother's best friend, and Summer's on and off boyfriend Hunter Wentworth.

It gets bad when Hunter decides it will be fun to play master and pet with her. Not literally. He plays with her feelings. He fights her bullies away, give her a ride home since her parents thought it would be all right if she takes the bus while Alec and Summer each had a car. Hunter did it all, even going as far as saying he loves her just to get the cookie which he did get.

Poor, naive Sapphire thought she had finally found love that she always craves. Little did she know that it was all staged by her siblings just to see her suffer.

It was a day she would rather forget, but as they say, the heart never forgets.

She woke up in an unfamiliar room, blue walls and black and grey satin sheets. This was definitely not the attic that mommy dearest and her husband deemed her.

Sapphire remembered what had happened the night before and a smile graced her full lips. She felt her stomach flatter just thinking about what she and Hunter had indulged in. She imagined that he was in the kitchen making her breakfast since he was nowhere in the huge room. She quickly put her clothes on and out she went in search of Hunter smiling and skipping down the grand staircase. She had never been to Hunter's mansion before but she guessed it was the same layout as her parents house since they lived in the same neighborhood.

Sapphire was just about to enter the kitchen when she heard it. A squeaky laugh that sounded very much like Summer's hyena laugh. Dead in her tracks she stopped, heart pounding against her ribcage you could think it was a Cherokee drum hoping that it was some other girl with the same obnoxious laugh as Summer. The last thing she wanted to see right now was bitchy Summer bitching at her for stealing her boyfriend. Little clingy thing she is.

Sapphire decided to listen in to their conversation which was totally against her character. "How bad can it get, just this one fucking time," she thought. Curiosity killed the cat they say, well, Sapphire learnt the hard way after hearing what they were saying.

"...she actually believes that I would love someone like her, Hunter said. "I mean all I wanted was to fuck Sapphire so I had to do all those stupid, nauseating things just to get into her pants."

"Yeah, she's a red headed freak who am sure now thinks that you love her." They laughed. "Besides you did promise mommy and daddy that we would get married in order to merge the business. Alec is not interested in running a business so that means you get to inherit your parent's business as well as daddy's." Summer added.

Sapphire was stunned, "So all this pretense just to take my virginity. Wow, that's something I never thought would happen to me."

"You know I would do anything for you, even go behind my bestfriends back." Hunter told Summer as he pondered on what he had done. Alec had warned him about playing with Sapphire's feelings, but like the fool he was he did not listen to the warnings. He listened to Summer who for some reason wants to get read off Sapphire as soon as possible. He always wondered why she hated Sapphire so much unlike Alec who just didn't care for her. Alec just cared about his love for painting. He never wanted her to get her heart broken because of love. Hunter never thought much of it except that Alec cares for Sapphire more than he would like to admit.

"By the way, did you find a way to get her trust fund. You remember we need that money to open that spa shop you are always talking about." He asked Summer who was busy checking her nails.

"Yeah, i'll just frame Sapphire for doing something against their rules so they can cut her off which the money is transferred to me."

Sapphire never thought she would ever hate someone like the way she hates Summer. She decided to flee that house as fast as she could, go home and pretend as if nothing happened. At school she would just be casual with Hunter in order not to raise any suspicions that she had realized that he was just a wolf in sheep's clothing.
