7 Chapter 7 : Choosing The Pokeball

A/N : Aht here. Here is the next chapter!

Some of you are questioning mc's age, just see it as age 0-1 with Itsuki being the oldest of the group. They are essentially all the same age of the same year, I'll be making them start their journey at the same time.

As such the easiest way for you guys is to treat it as the four were born in Year 1995, not 1996. If you guys really want me to edit that in previous chapters I can, or just know this moving forward, as it would reset chapter comments.

(Also same starting time for journey but separate paths)

Also I will remind you guys, this story is NOT a harem, I had it in my synopsis for a reason. My other fanfic is a harem but this one won't be.

Normally in anime/manga, having a harem is considered with mc having 3 or more girls. MC will only have 2 wives in this story, so this is considered NOT a harem. 1 will be voted by you guys later. It being Cynthia is a possibility)

Thinking of release schedule as well, and I might go with 3/week Sun/Tues/Thurs. (Note my chapters are longer than usual typically 1.5k-3k words per)

The unnatural snowstorm generated by my new partner, a Shiny Alolan Vulpix, soon vanished as quick as it came. This left the adults in Pallet Town even more confused as they felt the temperature stabilize as children became disappointed, seeing they couldn't play in the snow. Any blankets of snow that did drop, melted away very quickly.

All of us were exhausted since the happening ended, so we retired to our homes and called it a day. Mom was surprised seeing a Pokemon being carried in my arms, and found out it was the Pokemon that was in my egg, which earned a smile from her. And she knew I've been "working' at Oak's lab for the last year or so, so she knew I could take care of Pokemon well. So she wasn't worried about that.

Besides, she saw how happy Vulpix was as Vulpix nestled inside my arms when I came home. Mom said dinner was ready, and since today was an exhausting day, both Gary and I scarfed ourselves down, retiring to our beds.

By the way, the Oak family is actually very rich, the inside of our house has quite the ambiance, but it still had that home-y feeling to it, making you just reel right at home, even if it wasn't your house. Both Gary and I have our separate rooms, but Gary would frequently come to mine over to play. And now that Vulpix came into this world, our times playing with each other would only rise from here. Vulpix was a little ball of energy.

Ever wonder why Gary sported all those cars in the anime, even hiring his own cheerleader squad? Well, as they say, money talks. Or was that said by a certain red talking crab? Haha!

After dinner passed and I was now in my room, I could now be seen lying on my bed. It was a child's bed but it was super comfy, my body would literally sink into it, feeling a sensation of fluffiness all around. And now that Vulpix is here, she is cuddling with me, snoozing without a care for the world.

That's right, similar to Ash and his future Pikachu, I've decided to let Vulpix stay out of its Pokeball, but unlike Pikachu, she is compliant and if I need to, she'll let herself inside of it, especially in scenarios where it could turn dangerous.

And speaking of her Pokeball, in my last life I was a bit if a Pokeball enthusiast. Every Pokemon I bred or caught, I would try to find matching Pokeball for them.

I was originally thinking of trying to locate one of those Luxury Balls for her, but I found out in this world Luxury Balls are mainly rewarded as high end prizes to rich folk, mostly those who see Pokemon as commodities. I may be part of Oak's rich family now but that's the least I want of my Vulpix. I don't want to see her as a commodity, she is my partner. I could see others doing that, especially cause she's a shiny.

And to test it out, on my 4th birthday seeing that Vulpix was showing signs of hatching and that her egg was snowy-white, at the time I asked for both a Luxury Ball and a Premier Ball. Premier does kind of share the same sentiment as well as a Luxury Ball, doesn't it?

I found out that while going shopping with Mom, Pallet Town doesn't even carry Premier Balls. Only those with big shopping centers do, like in Celadon City. And it turns out they cost tens of thousands of Pokedollars. Yet Mom squandered that money like it was nothing. Shopping at Celadon City that day was a blast, and it happened well after the fire caused by Team Rocket. By then the floor was restored to its previous look.

But getting the Luxury and Premier Ball weren't the only two balls I had in mind for Vulpix. I chatted with Professor Oak about specialty Pokeballs within this last year. Apparently they do exist in this world, which made me super happy. Professor Oak knew a guy named Old Man Kurt.

This Kurt person was a native to the Johto region. They got these Apricorn Fruits that grow on Apricorn Trees, thus receiving said name. These fruits can be eaten and lots of Pokemon love em. But that's not the only function they serve.

Apricorns have a very hard spherical shell, very similar to that of Pokeballs created by businesses. These shells can be hollowed out, and only experts in Johto can get them done. Kurt is one such expert. This practice was adopted from the creation of the first Pokeball over seventy years ago, where they used a special type of wood, and proceed to hollow it out. The rest of the creation process is mostly science-related.

Professor Oak had yet to show me the creation of Pokeballs but he researches Pokemon, not Pokeballs. He too leaves that up to the experts, so I guess if I want to watch its creation, I'd have to go behind the scenes of one of the manufacturing businesses here that create standardized Pokeballs like the Pokeball, Great Ball, and the Ultra Ball, or find an expert to watch them.

Professor Oak can probably recommend me to Kurt when I go to Johto. I know a lot of people found Johto boring in my past life, one of the more skippable regions, but I plan to go to each one during my Adventure. Besides in Johto, there's a special cave behind the eighth gym, which is the only place you can find Dragon Fangs early on. If I decide to get a Kingdra into my party, that would be the place to go to.

Moreover, Team Rocket will eventually invade the Johto region before long if they haven't done so already. If the Masked Man exists and I decide to get involved with them, there's no way I wouldn't be able to go to Johto. If that becomes the case, Johto would become one if the more pressing regions to go to first.

But with that said, the other two specialty Pokeballs I was able to have Professor Oak get me was the Dive Ball and Love Ball. So four in total.

I was too tired last night to begin the choosing, so after carrying Vulpix home and showing her around the house, we crashed for the night. The next morning came quickly. Thankfully we have a bunch of Moo-moo milk in preparation for the hatching of the egg. I'll have to see which types of fruits and Pokeblocks Vulpix likes later on, but for now, Moo-Moo milk was good.

Seeing the cutie resting on top of me, I patted her head and sure enough, it was a cool but extremely soft sensation. I smiled seeing this before. Feeling my hand, Vulpix woke up, yawning.

"Say Vulpix, it's time to choose your ball, okay? I know I decided to let you stay out most of the time, but I still need you to be caught. Technically you aren't even considered mine yet."

As if she understood what I said, Vulpix nodded her head. "Vulpix!", she replied with a loud yell.

"Good. Let me go get them."

I then scurried off the bed, going to the desk I had nearby. On it had the four Pokeballs I previously mentioned.

Grabbing them, I made my way back to the bed. Vulpix stretched her body out, letting her fur ruffle a bit. She then sat on all fours, proceeding to look at me with an interest in her eyes.

I didn't hesitate and brought out the first two of four, the Premier and Luxury Ball. Vulpix had a look at them for a moment, before I sensed a wave of disappointment. Anger then flashed in her eyes, and did a quick spinning motion of her tail. Thwap!

All if a sudden, I saw Vulpix swat away the two balls, which were sent flying across the room. That created two large bangs the moment they strike the wall. Thankfully they didn't break.

"Haha, I had a feeling you wouldn't like those two!", I laughed.

"Vulpix!", Vulpix replied, nodding her head.

I then brought out the Love and Dive balls, the other two specialty balls Kurt made for me through Professor Oak.

After laying the two in the bed, Vulpix had a good look at them. Her attention laid on the Dive Ball for a good moment, before switching to the Love Ball. I could see sparkles in her eyes,. It seems she decided right then and there.

"So you've decided, huh?", I asked Vulpix.

"Vul!", Vulpix yelled out happily.

She then moved to the Love Ball on her own without waiting for me to toss it at her. Pressing her nose against the center, the Love Ball made a popping sound, before it opened up. A red beam of light suddenly encompassed Vulpix, but she didn't struggle one but, and happily accepted it.

Wiggle. Wiggle. Wiggle. Ding!

The Love Ball wiggled three times like it should, and it then stopped moving. I had successfully captured the newly hatched Vulpix!

Grabbing the ball ball, I smiled.

"From now on, you'll be my partner, Vulpix!", I stated.

And that's how I came across my first Pokemon!
