Ghosts, Talismans And Water Creatures

When I first came up with this world I didn't think much about the supernatural. My plot mainly leaned towards travelling, helping others and fighting with others, the supernatural came later on for two reasons. One, despite these being fantasy books, I wanted them to be quite realistic so I created a type cultivation that anyone could follow meaning that, later on, I wanted to add supernatural that I thought was real. Although it is up for debate, I personally believe in ghosts and I've seen what I believe to be ghosts so that was the first supernatural aspect I decided to add. With water creatures, there are unknown creatures living at the bottom of our ocean on earth so I find it hard to believe there isn't some kind of smart human like water creature that is real, call them mermaids if you wish.

The second reason for deciding to add the supernatural was because there were certain plot points where the characters needed to know things that the living around them did not know, hence the ghosts being actually an important aspect for the novels. And because TROTBP's sect, Hai Di, is a sect thats main basis is water, I wanted there to be a good reason for it and water creatures are very interesting to me. And I'll tell you why -

The water creatures I added to this world, some I chose are real creatures from our ocean. And for the others I created, some can only communicate in water not being able leave it whilst others can breathe for a period of time out of the water and can speak the main characters language (which is obviously helpful) These creatures, however, are located only in the Mountain Of A Thousand Streams as, if you read previously, its the only connected entrance to water on land from the ocean. Although these creatures are created and mainly inhabited in the sea, I did not create any adventures that meant my characters had to travel on ship upon the ocean. Sorry to disappoint those who like sailing.

I decided it best that I won't go into detail about these water creatures and I will leave it all in the novels for you to experience for the first time. Let's move onto they next -

Now with ghosts, for those who aren't familiar, (these ghosts) are transparent in appearance, cannot be touched and usually cannot touch you however powerful ghosts can use their energy to move objects, scare a person to death (explained more in the novels) and some can even possess a person - although its rare. These incidents overall are rare as my novels aren't driven by the supernatural, its just a aspect that appears in the books. Now with dealing with the ghosts comes the only tailsmans I created for this world.

Talismans, for those who don't know, are objects that have powers like imbedded spells that in some books can heal or harm others, create warmth or sudden cold, make you invisible etc… I couldn't think of anything else. Anyway the point is that the talismans I use only work on ghosts, they are intended only for ghosts. Though others have tried, and failed, to create talismans that work on humans, they remain only of use to sorting out issues with ghosts. For example, warding them away from a building, ending a possession, removing strong evil energy and making them immobile for a period of time.

I hope overall you find the supernatural in these novels interesting, I was worried for those who liked the supernatural aspect of cultivation to find these books quite dull in comparison to others. All I wish for is just for you all to give these books a chance, they will be coming out at the end of this week. I just wanted to create a guide as I've often struggled to follow along a book where it has a lot of information to remember.
