7 Chapter 6

Xiulan was stumped for words. She didn't know how to react to that. She stood there for a few seconds. She closed her eyes and opened them. She raised her hands and shoved him away and said coldly "What do you think I am? your personal maid who just agrees to everything you say? Listen carefully, I am NOT your slave to do everything you say. I would rather quit than play along with this farce. You know what? I QUIT. I will go out of your company if you don't treat me with the basic respect that I am supposed to get." She threw the files in her hand on his face and stormed out of her cabin.

She went straight to the 40th floor and informed Meng Xin that she was quitting. She typed out her resignation letter in record time and went straight to the HR, slammed it on the table and went out of the company. She walked for about 10 minutes and entered a café. She ordered a latte with whipped cream, collected her order and sat down in a corner seat. After another 15 minutes, Meng Xin came in and looked around. As soon as she spotted Xiulan, She came and sat down opposite to her and said " I handed my resignation in too" and gave a smile. Xiulan Widened her eyes and asked "Meng Xin are you dumb? Why did you do that? Do you know how hard it is to find a company that treats employees this good? Granted the new Chairman is an asshole of the worst kind, but your position was pretty good. It's such a waste!". Meng Xin smiled and said "First tell me the whole story before I answer that."

Xiulan launched into a frustrated rant about what happened in the cabin. By the time she finished, Meng Xin's eyes were as wide as sausers and mouth agape. She said in an indignant tone "That guy is crazy! I mean who does that? Be my woman because of a random rumor? and you said that the IP address was tracked to your apartment? Holy.... damn who can do that?... Damn...." She was rendered speechless at the unreasonability of the guy. Meng Xin shook her head and said "Look, with this guy being like this I don't think it will be surprising if he finds out that I have a close relationship with you and I think that he won't hesitate to use me to bring you back if he wanted to. Let's just say that my initial reason to resign was not all that rational but listening to what you said, I really feel like I did the right thing by resigning. Well it's still true that I did resign to follow you out. I just can't work knowing you will not be there."

Xiulan was touched. Her eyes felt hot. She got up and pulled Meng Xin into a tight hug. They talked for about 2 hours. Meng Xin got up and left after saying she had to go pacify her parents. Xiulan stayed in the café for a while longer and left after she paid the bill. She came out and booked a cab. She started walking towards the indicated point down the street where the cab was stationed. She was looking at her phone to follow the indicated directions and walked to the pedestrian crossing. She found her cab and signaled for the driver to wait. She started crossing the road after the signal for the crossing turned green when a black van rammed into her. It all happened too fast. She felt an acute pain in the head and all she saw was black. The last thing she saw before she lost consciousness was a few people rushing towards her.
