16 Miss Me, Already?

In a traditionally furnished private restaurant, Minister Kim sat across from the older man with more white hairs on his head than him, and a smile reached his eyes.

"P.M., let me pour more drinks for you," Minister Kim said while already reaching out to the bowl of white wine. And of course, the Prime Minister allowed him to do that.

"Thank you," he said before drinking from his glass. Minister Kim picked up his glass and took a generous swig before putting it down.

It's been more than fifteen minutes since they started drinking and talking about politics and finally, it was time for the P.M. to present the main topic of interest.

"Speaking about the marriage between our children, I think that the marriage should be registered as soon as possible. What do you think?"

To that, Minister Kim nodded in approval. "We shouldn't delay it any further having concluded about since a few days ago."

"You said that your son is back, why don't you invite him to join us? At least if he can't meet my daughter before they register their marriage, he can at least dine with us," the Prime Minister smiled.

Hearing that, Minister Kim cleared his throat before saying, "My son took a flight to another business meeting before I could return home. This young man only knows how to chase money."

Roy's father said the second half of the statement in a low tone to show his disapproval, but it only made the Prime Minister laugh heartily.

"Kim, your son is young and responsible. It would have been a disappointment for him to not chase after money with his good looks. We can leave the signing of their marriage certificate until he returns home."

It was clear that the older man already liked Roy even without meeting him more than a handful of times.

This was the kind of man he wanted for his precious daughter, but he only hoped that he would be able to share some of his time with her after they got married.

"There is no need to wait for his return," Minister Kim suddenly said while meeting the other man's surprised gaze.

He has had a little time to think about this. Knowing his son very well, he was sure that there was going to be a big fight leading to this marriage arrangement. And this is not something he wanted.

The kind of relationship he wanted with their country's Prime Minister was very important, such that he did not want to be found wanting in their agreement. So, it's better that Roy was not around to destroy his plans.

"Let's go ahead and register their marriage tomorrow as we agreed on a few days ago," Roy's father suggested.

"Without his approval? Are you sure it's okay?" the Prime Minister inquired like he bloody cared.

Actually, the old man did not care about the means, he just wanted the deal sealed immediately but given his position, he had to put up a front.

"It doesn't matter." Minister Kim chuckled. "He will have me to thank later," he added while raising his glass.

---

After dinner with her mother, Anna returned to her bedroom only to have her mother follow her.

"Mum, do you want something?" she asked in a tired voice.

"A conversation," Mrs. Carter replied as she walked towards the couch in the room and sat on it.

"Right now?" Anna raised a curious brow.

Her mother held her gaze for several seconds before saying to her, "This is my first time seeing my daughter with a perfect sight and I haven't even sat with her to talk since she returned home. Tell me, am I being paranoid right now?"

A deep sigh escaped Anna's lips. "Of course, you are not. You are being very loving."

With the few adventures she embarked on today, she had forgotten about this fact. There were so many things to catch up on with her mother who bore all of her burdens when she could not take proper care of herself.

With that, Anna went to sit next to her before taking her hands. "Mum, having my sight restored was my greatest wish so I could see your beautiful face again. I knew that you were sad most times we were together and I longed to comfort you but now, my wish has been granted."

As Anna spoke, she touched her mother's chin with a smile before the latter brought her into her arms for a comforting hug.

"I'm happy to have you back." Mrs. Carter snapped her eyes close to reel in the moment.

The mother and daughter stayed in that position for a minute before separating to talk about other things.

They chatted for more than two hours before the mother called it a night because of her worry.

"Anna, you need to protect your new eyes now, don't stay up late," she said to her as she rose to her feet.

"Mmmm… Good night, Mum."

As soon as her mother shut her door, Anna hurried to her nightstand to pick up her phone to text Roy.

Anna: 'How was your flight?'

Immediately, Roy replied: 'Comfortable. Did you meet the friend you cancelled your first schedule for?'

A smile appeared on Anna's lips when she saw his response. She could only think that he was still disappointed.

Anna plopped down on one side of her bed and quickly sent out a response.

Anna: 'She is not a friend. Yet. And yes, I met her. When are you coming back?'

Roy would have felt more annoyed that she cancelled their next appointment to meet someone who was not a friend if she hadn't asked when he was coming back.

Roy: 'Do you miss me already?'

When Anna saw his reply, she did not know what to think. Was he teasing her or was he being serious?

But remembering that he had asked her not to ever climb his bed, she chose the former.

Anna: 'I miss your premium treatment. I need to enjoy your money before the divorce,' she joked and followed it up with a decision without giving him time to respond to it.
